Wonderful =)

And once again, thank you.

You're very welcome. :)

Thank you so much, I am going to copy and paste this into the Resolution Center, as you seem to know a lot more than me and your opinion should add a lot of weight to my case considering he has so many more sales than I have buys.

You're very welcome, I hope it all works out. My opinion will not add any weight to the case as administrators make their decisions based solely on the evidence available to them and they are well aware of the rules governing out of escrow transactions. They will be able to check both yours and Liston's account and messaging histories to confirm that he did indeed request that you pay him outside of escrow, and that you did send the payment.

Please do not go around the escrow system in future; it is there for your protection!

i get this everytime i try to get to my tormail can anyone shed light on this or even help me fix it?

Hi therealzeticus,

Tormail goes down quite frequently; unfortunately there's nothing that we can do about it, we just have to wait for the people that run it to get it back up.

Okay this vendor seems to use the moving average so I'll just wait untill tomorrow so it evens out some more.

I think there are only 6 or 7 vendors that actually price their products in Bitcoin, and it's unlikely you'll ever encounter them as I doubt they very do much business as a result.

The 24 hour moving average updates constantly, but you can learn how to time your transactions in order to get the most out of your Bitcoin in lelmeriodici's thread here:

Posted this in another Bitinstant thread, but I guess Ill add it here too.

From the time I deposited till I had my coins in SR today was less than 1 1/2 hours. Within 10 minutes of the 6th confirmation I was good to go.

That's excellent mrlavish, very glad to hear it! :)

I squashed one of my balls and it made me vomit instantly.

It was a very unpleasant experience and in the future I hope to avoid it like a bad vendor.

I got sick a little bit in my mouth at thought of it. :-\

Ok, I really hate to beg, but in light of this topic I hope that someone could help me out... I've just changed some stuff regarding my order, but I'm still 0.01 BTC short. It's $1, which would be ridiculous to buy... the transaction fees are higher than the BTC itself ;). If someone could spot me that, I will be grateful forever and will give it back with my next order!

Thanks for the reply. Do you know if it was a problem with the tumbler as originally theorized or something else? Also, would you be so kind as to post a link to a forum that explains the tumbler and how it works? Is it necessary for me to transfer to wallet then another one and so on until eventually going to my SR account or does the tumbler do an adequate amount of covering my tracks? The only reason I am at all worried is because the method I use to acquire my BTC requires my real name/info. Thanks for the info.

I'm not entirely sure exactly what was causing the problem but judging by the fact that Bitcoin were entering the tumbler and not leaving it I would imagine that the tumbler or its interface to the wallet system was indeed the problem. This has now been fixed and more problems are unlikely.

You can read more about the tumbler in the Buyer's Guide here:

http://dkn255hz262ypmii.onion/wiki/index.php?title=Buyer%27s_Guide#Tumbler

Tumbler

Just when you thought Silk Road couldn't be more secure, we went one step further. The tumbler sends all payments through a complex, semi-random series of dummy transactions, each with a new, one-use receiving address, making it nearly impossible to link your payment with any coins leaving the site. The quantity, frequency, and number of transactions are all varied chaotically in a way that mimics the transactions of the Bitcoin economy as a whole.

I would highly recommend visiting the Buyer's Guide and reading through the other topics there too.

It is advisable to obfuscate your Bitcoin's 'tracks' as much as possible; the more security-conscious folk here generally run their Bitcoin through an external tumbler as well such as BitcoinFog or blockchain.info's anonymising service. These do charge a very small fee but it is important to note that you are trusting them not to abscond with your Bitcoin.

The service at blockchain.info is generally seen as quite reliable and BitcoinFog has been operating for quite some time, but again, you are trusting both with your coins. Simply sending Bitcoin from one wallet to another, to another and so on so forth doesn't really do anything to obfuscate their origin. The SR tumbler employs a much more complex process and the mixing services I mentioned actually give you different coins back than the ones you send into them.

In short, unless you're ultra security conscious or spending a relatively large amount then the SR tumbler should suit your needs just fine. :)

Hi anonymousasshit,

Please read the Escrow section of the Silk Road Buyer's Guide:

http://dkn255hz262ypmii.onion/wiki/index.php?title=Buyer%27s_Guide#Escrow

It states that you are NEVER to pay a vendor directly, and to let Silk Road know if a vendor requests this from you. You say that he has admitted in resolution that he asked you to order 50 and send the rest of the Bitcoin to you directly; doing so is in direct violation of the terms that he agreed to abide by upon becoming a vendor and his seller privileges may be revoked as a result. In such a case I believe the administrator will provide you with the 100% refund that you have requested, though that is by no means a certainty.

« on: May 07, 2013, 09:09 pm »
I deposited 2 bitcoins to my sr account last night from MultiBit and it just came thru an hour ago (almost 14 hrs), I was scared that it might now have worked, but it did. I just tried sending some directly to SR from bitinstant an hour or so ago and it is usally in there by now, but still is not showing up. I think SR is having problems, I cant get on now (since 15 mins ago 4:53 eastern)

Hi caliplaya,

I'm currently logged in so there doesn't seem to be any widespread issue there. Try hitting 'Get a new identity' in the Vidalia Control Panel, and if that doesn't work exit and relaunch Tor Browser.

Regarding the transfer, please read the following excerpt from the Silk Road Wiki:

http://dkn255hz262ypmii.onion/wiki/index.php?title=Frequently_Asked_Questions#Why_isn.27t_my_deposit_showing_up_in_my_account.3F

Quote
Why isn't my deposit showing up in my account?

It can take up to 6 hours for a deposit to be confirmed on the blockchain, processed, and credited to your Silk Road account. If your deposit still hasn't shown up, first check that it is showing up on the blockchain by searching for your deposit address on a site like blockchain.info. If your transfer doesn't appear here, then it was never sent and you need to find out why from the person or organization who initiated the transfer. If the transfer does appear, then there could be a problem on our end and you should contact us.

l waited 26 hours and have finally received my coins. I saw the post by DPR, but I was just wondering if anybody can confirm that they have sent money to thier SR account and received them in a timely manner since the update by DPR. Just want to make sure that I am not in for another 24hr+ wait before I add my monies... Thanks in advance for replies.

Hi nameless131313,

Good to hear your coins came through. :)

In DPR's thread, this user got theirs quite quickly:

Just transferred in some BTC and placed an order; took about 20 minutes total. Thanks!

You can check the experience that others are having in the last few pages of the following thread:

How often do prices adjust on SR?  Bitcoin has gone up enough in value again that I should be able to afford what I was going to order but I'm stuck waiting for the prices to adjust again.

Hi FlyingFuck,

Silk Road uses a 24 hour moving average to calculate the value of Bitcoin on the site. This helps protects against Bitcoin volatility and constant price swings; for the latest value that Silk Road is using you can either put an item in your cart and look at the total (e.g. $1,275.06 at $107.3281 per Bitcoin) or visit mtgoxlive.com/orders

The vast majority of vendors price their listings in USD - this means that their value stays the same, but their cost in Bitcoin will vary depending on the price of Bitcoin at any given time.

I would recommend that you go to your Account, click "account settings" in the box on the right hand side of the page, check "display prices in dollars" and then click "Update profile". The site is much easier to use this way as you can view all prices in USD.

From my understanding it is the vendors choice weather or not to hedge their items. Could a mod possibly confirm this? Actually been curious about it for a while.

Regarding hedging, this is an entirely separate concept and is explained in detail in the Buyer's Guide here:

http://dkn255hz262ypmii.onion/wiki/index.php?title=Buyer%27s_Guide#Escrow_hedge

Yep down for me too. I was on 20 minutes ago to receive some info I needed. Got on no problem logged off. Read your thread tried to log on and got the IMAP Error.

On a side note, just tried to update my cart on SR and got logged off. Coincidence?

Nope, the two are not related. There are currently ongoing issues with log-outs:

In order to fight off the recent DoS attack we had to do substantial reconfiguration to the entire Silk Road system.  We are still working out the kinks, and there are a couple of isses that have to be addressed.  One is deposits and withdrawals not showing up in a timely manner.  We found one problem the new config was causing to this system and fixed it today, so deposits/withdrawals should be flowing now.  If you still don't have yours, please message support on the main site.

The other issue is being logged out seemingly at random.  We are still looking for the cause of this problem, but I assure you it is a top priority and we will get it fixed soon.

Thank you for your patience as we recover from the recent attack.

Newbie discussion / Re: Missing Package
« on: May 07, 2013, 08:38 pm »
Ok,

So I ordered some stuff from a UK vendor, It has not turned up. The total quantity was an O.  It has 3 days left until the auto finalize kicks in & have already entered the resolution stage.

My query is, should I now be worried if my item was meant to be delivered UK to UK 11 days ago & it has not? Iv had other stuff come too(not the same seller) since this and have had no problems?

Also Im not sure what way the resolution part works, so a bit of info on the best way to proceed with my vendor would be a great help. The vendor has great feedback and I have had about 15 orders from UK/Europe & beyond all come no problems since I joined the SR.

thanks

Yoker

Hi theyoker75,

Once an order is in resolution it will not auto-finalise. You can read more about the ordering process and the options available to you here:

http://dkn255hz262ypmii.onion/wiki/index.php?title=The_ordering_process

Packages can often take longer than expected to arrive but from what I have read it would seem that 11 days UK to UK is stretching it a bit. That being said it may still arrive! I would recommend requesting to extend the resolution by 5 days (this would kick in after the original 17 day period, for a total of 22 days) and if it still has not arrived by then request a refund.
