Newbie discussion / Re: Take down any website service DDoS
« on: May 10, 2013, 02:02 pm »
Sale of goods or services is not permitted without a Silk Road vendor account. I am also of the opinion that the service being offered would fall under the Restricted Items category, specifically as something "who's purpose is to harm".

Thanks for response, i have thought it....

Can you Kick the User from SR? It can be worse for newbs, and its the third scam like this in short time :(

As far as I'm aware users cannot be deleted from Silk Road as they could simply re-register the account. It would also go against the idea of freedom that Silk Road represents if user accounts were being banned. Everybody is responsible for their own actions, and whilst I feel terribly sorry for the people that are getting scammed by these messages it is up to each individual to check things out before putting their money into them, just as they would do with real-world transactions or investments.

+1 for bringing it to the attention of others though!

Customer support / Re: First Deposit To SR Account/ Not Funded
« on: May 10, 2013, 01:23 pm »
Got it. I'm glad to see that I've had the right URL. I was kind of worried about that one to be honest, but I had it right. I'm not as worried about it now.  Also, I understand about the support staff being overwhelmed and I've never heard anything but good things about SR. Still, it would be nice to have the money I deposited actually in my account where I can use it before it depreciates any further. :)

I fully understand; Bitcoin is currently rising in value, so hopefully it'll be worth around the same or more as it was when you deposited it.

Silk Road discussion / Re: don't get bitcoins after finalize
« on: May 10, 2013, 01:20 pm »
i have write a message to the support.
can that be, because I got a advance payment?

The fact that you got a cash advance changes everything; please read the relevant section on the SR Wiki here:

http://dkn255hz262ypmii.onion/wiki/index.php?title=Seller%27s_Guide#Cash_advance

Quote
Cash advance

From the link on your account page, you may accept advance payments on your orders that are currently in escrow. You'll see four numbers and a form field in a “cash advance” control panel. The first number is your limit. If your total outstanding advance payments meet or exceed this limit, you may not accept any more cash advances. The next number is the total of your advances currently outstanding. The third number is the difference between the first two, the total still available to you. The fourth number is the current fee for taking a cash advance. When you put the amount you want advanced to you in the input field and click go, that amount is immediately credited to your available account balance. This credit comes from the expected payments of your most recent transactions. When those transactions are eventually finalized, your account is not credited for them because you have already been paid. If a full or partial refund is issued for one of the transactions, your account is debited by the amount you were advanced plus the fee (or a prorated amount in the case of a partial refund).

For example, you sell a 20 btc item and then a 10 btc item. Your account page tells you that you have a 15 btc cash advance limit and the fee is currently 10%. You need all 15 btc, so you enter in 15 and click go. First, you are advanced 9 btc from the most recent 10 btc sale (10 btc minus the 10% fee). Then you are given a partial advance from the previous sale: 6 btc for a total of 15 btc. Let's say the 20 btc sale goes off without a hitch and the buyer finalizes the order. At that point, you would be paid 20 btc minus the 6 you were advanced, minus 10% of 6 (0.60 btc) for the fee, for a total of 13.4 btc. Next, let's say the 10 btc sale goes to resolution and you give your customer a 100% refund. In this case, you've already been advanced 9 btc and need to pay the 10% fee for a total of 10 btc, the original price. Therefore, 10 btc will be subtracted from your available account balance. If this causes your account to go negative, then any future deposits or payments will go toward reducing that negative balance.

The limit and fee are both self-adjusting according to a few simple parameters. The limit is governed by how much recent business you've done, and how much money you are expected to be paid from escrow. The fee is determined by the supply of and demand for the funds available for cash advances.

Customer support / Re: First Deposit To SR Account/ Not Funded
« on: May 10, 2013, 12:17 pm »

I thought of that, Libertas. Glad you posted the correct URL, and yes that's the one I've been using. I did contact support, but I did it from the link on SR itself. Should I re-send? I contacted them last night but I didn't expect to hear back for a couple of days.

There is a phishing site that has a very similar URL, "silkroadhpj4dfu.onion" or the likes. A not insignificant amount of people are falling victim to that, so just be very wary and memorise the real URL, silkroadvb5piz3r.onion. Just break it up into three sections and you'll have it memorised in no time!

Please give SR Support up to 48 hours to respond; if you hear nothing back from them after that time period feel free to send another message in case they have overlooked your previous one - very unlikely, but it can happen. They're only human! Bombarding them with messages though won't help them get to your case any quicker as issues are addressed on a 'first-come, first-served' basis.

Getting the silk road error screen when i try uploading a picture

Hi buycoins,

Another vendor experiencing errors previously used the following method to upload an image successfully:

http://dkn255hz262ypmii.onion/index.php?topic=156125.msg1092118#msg1092118

Not sure if it will be of any use in your case but it's worth a shot.

[SNIP]
so how come he got 50% when it was in resolution ?  your the mod explain   (the fee,s he generates maybe) never mind that robbing cunt charabros I ordered and he promised me tracking and soon as I paid he said fe and I said why its to be tracked ..told me dont fe I wont send . cancelled  3 days later after the btc crash , so he took my money and refunded half it ..I reported it and guess what ...FUK ALL HAPPENED .(wouldnt be because of the fees? he generates would it ?)

Yes, I am a moderator - a forum moderator, not a Silk Road administrator. I do not know why the administrator that was overseeing the resolution decided to award 50%; that is something that you would have to take up with them. All I can tell you is that they take both the buyer's and vendor's account histories into account, and make a decision based on all of the evidence that is presented and available to them.

Regarding CharasBros, if you did not FE then he did not have an opportunity to take your money nor 'refund it' as he did not have it in the first place. It was being held in escrow and the vendor cancelled the order. As a result, you received a refund. Please see the following SR Wiki entries which may help you understand why you received the amount of Bitcoin that you did when the order was cancelled:

http://dkn255hz262ypmii.onion/wiki/index.php?title=Frequently_Asked_Questions#Why_is_my_refund_less.2Fmore_than_I_paid.3F

http://dkn255hz262ypmii.onion/wiki/index.php?title=Buyer%27s_Guide#Escrow_hedge

You have presumably read the buyer's guide so you presumably knew what would happen in the event of a cancellation. Neither Silk Road nor the vendors that trade on it are responsible for the volatility of Bitcoin. Silk Road already does its best to limit this volatility by utilising a moving 24 hour average rather than a moving 'last' price.

Regarding the cancellation itself, this is a free market and both vendors and buyers are free to elect to do business with whomever they wish. The commission that a vendor generates is absolutely NOT taken into account if they break the rules governing vending privileges. The reason that your report resulted in "FUK ALL" happening is because there was no actual issue to begin with. It seems it was a misunderstanding on your part as to how the escrow system works.

If there was more mods who had some sort of teeth.. me and the rest  of sr wouldnt have  to report  vendors 50+ times (the button doesnt work anyway) whos kidding who here.
look at sam  many times was he reported ? or dont you know , would be interesting to see how many times  he,s been reported or charas (100 - 200 times)   ???  can you say ....

As I stated above, we are forum moderators, not Silk Road administrators. I hope now that you understand the difference you might be less venomous towards us in the future. We are here to help the Silk Road community, and answer any questions that customers may have. We do not have access to the main site to take care of customer issues, but when things are reported to us that we feel need to be passed up the chain to administrators, they are sent without delay.

I don't know how many times any vendor has been reported, nor is it any of my business as a forum moderator. All I can say on the matter is that if you believe a vendor is scamming or posting listings for items that are prohibited, you can click the 'report this vendor' / 'report this item' link and detail your suspicion or issue in the area provided.

Yes, the above is a scam. You will absolutely NOT receive those kinds of messages from Silk Road.
