please dont take thiz question the wrong way cauze the vender deserves the benefit of the doubt but how does one know the account was truly hacked.? ,couldnt a vender just claim that so he or she could snag peeoples money and not send product? i mean we all remembef what TONY did two 420s ago and his stats were perfect. i just asked cause the vender mentioned it needs to be locked OR SHUT DOWN. why shut it down when locking is enough.to reset pin and password

 ??? ??? ???

Are there any ideas whether its just money makers that have compromised these accounts, or is it LE??

Did you even read this thread at all?  The account was compromised NOT by LE or any hackers, but because the vendor himself provided his password and PIN to a phishing website.

The vendor said it needs to locked or shut down so as more customers aren't caught out by having to FE for the people currently in control of the account. 'Locked' means that the PIN will be locked and the passphrase etc. will be able to be reset - 'shut down' means suspended, as in the vendor account will be demoted back to a buyer account, stopping others from placing orders or being able to FE.

If you have BTCs in escrow, proceed to generate a new wallet address, then your order gets cancelled or you are given a refund for whatever reason, would the coins in escrow revert back to your account even though you generated a new wallet address?

Yes. Coins in escrow that are returned to you via a refund are sent directly to your Silk Road username, not your Silk Road wallet address. This is possible due to the nature of the internal Silk Road payment system, but you cannot send Bitcoin from outside the Silk Road system to a username inside it.

Here's my idea:

you put in a fake username, password, and pin.

username:isuckdicksalikeasses
password:i@tlike!d1cksfor^ihireWhioR
pin:1337331337331337331337

it will slow down the phinishing websites

Doing that would not slow down the phishing websites, it would just take 10 seconds out of your life that you will never get back..

Well i Think That VPN Is Way better Because They Give Protection And stuff but remember that everthing you do on the vpn is logged so yeah thats one magor flaw of a vpn also i dont know what the heck is isp in thee topic thats the internet service provider thats who you pay to get internet

I think the OP meant it more along the lines of "VPN vs. ISP - Can you beat your ISP from spying on you by using one?"

What is black Market reloaded?

Another deepweb marketplace, though reviews as to the reliability of its vendors are generally quite low due to the cheap price of getting accounts and the ability to scam users terribly easily.

Obviously my understanding of TOR was WAAAAY off so I feel pretty fucking stupid for even asking ....... never used TOR or even new it existed prior to joining SR. As to the comments regarding our youth buying drugs off SR ...... although I don't have any young ones at home .... I did raise 3 and put 2 thru college and I it's anybody's guess if this would have happened had they had access to a site like SR in the early teen years. So yes I have a conscience  when it comes to minors using SR. I don't troll and no further responses required.

Oh, okay, well my apologies in that case! You should do some reading about how Tor works; it's good stuff to know as it will help keep you anonymous! :)

You can read more about Tor on the Tor homepage:
https://www.torproject.org/about/overview.html.en

Also, please make sure you're at least using the Tor Browser Bundle, which you can download at www.torproject.org, and make sure to keep it up to date! Using clearweb (regular internet) sites such as onion.to to access Silk Road and the forums are not anonymous as they simply offer you a proxy with which to view .onion (onion network) sites. It is possible for the people that run the onion.to proxy to see your real IP address, and also to log your usernames and passwords if they wished to do so.

Everybody is of course free to their own opinions regarding any topic, but personally I feel that if somebody is old enough to do the necessary research about a drug and use the drug safely, then they should be able to purchase it. This is my own opinion, of course, and not reflective of Silk Road policy. The young person in question was making a much smarter choice buying from Silk Road than buying off the street, both for purity and security reasons.

The drugs available on Silk Road are generally much cleaner than what people will find on the street - that is the beauty of free-market economics: vendors with bad quality products won't last very long, and vendors with good products will have to up their quality to compete with vendors that provide excellent products!

Furthermore, as this is a free market, Silk Road should not - as a matter of course - deny any free person that wishes to purchase here. Silk Road is not just a place where people can come to buy any product that they wish, legal or otherwise. It is a bastion of freedom in a world where freedom is being evermore restricted by world governments.

Welcome to the future of freedom. :)

There are several discussions about this in the forums just search tor vpn but the best advice if you go this route is to use a vpn like mullvad (there are others but I don't recall them) which accept bitcoin for payment and check their privacy policy to see if they promise not to keep logs, although there's no guarantee of that either.

here is a clearnet link discussing pros and cons of vpns:

I really wish I could post this in the proper forum, but unfortunately I don't really have the time/inclination to spam to 50. Maybe I will at some point, though. Either way, I'm glad to do my part to prevent that awful spamming bullshit we had to deal with.

My question here is very basic. I just want to know, basically, how a VPN works. From what I've read, they create an encrypted pipeline to the internet, but what does that mean for security in addition to TOR? The real reason I wanted to get a VPN was so my ISP can't "spy" on what I'm doing on the clearnet, but, more importantly, can't decisively know whether or not I'm using TOR (I have heard ISPs have ways of knowing by simply checking their database records). In this day in age, SR is no longer underground. We have to face facts - LE aren't stupid. If you're using TOR, that in and of itself may be grounds for investigation - maybe not today, but someday. Especially if you have a previous criminal record. So I'm wondering, does this VPN work to prevent my ISP from knowing any of the sites I'm connecting to, and, more importantly, whether or not I'm using TOR?

Thanks for any and all responses.

(Maybe a nice mod will move this to the security section? ;) )

There are already many threads in the Security forum discussing this very topic. It is possible to run Tor through a VPN in order to hide the fact that you're using Tor from your ISP.

Just a few threads I found with a quick search:

http://dkn255hz262ypmii.onion/index.php?topic=85322

http://dkn255hz262ypmii.onion/index.php?topic=150472

Don't be afraid to use the Search function - that's what it's there for! :) Do the search from inside whichever forum or thread you wish to search through, or to search all of the forums just search from the forum homepage.

It seems that with there being multiple sites ( SR, BMR, Atlantis ) to do business with that there is a potential breeding ground for scumbags like Sam Giancana. Whats to prevent these Rogue vendors from either setting up a new account here at SR using a different name or worse yet rotating between the sites scamming honest buyers by the hundreds. Can the Admin at SR ID an IP address with everything been sent thru TOR, and is there any chance they would be willing to share information in regards to rogue vendors with other sites. I have no desire to move away from SR..... they simply have the best site going.

On a different note it seems that since SR was mentioned on the mainstream media there has been an obvious influx of CHILDREN as evidenced by the post put up by the IDIOT CHILD supposedly using a funnel to put crushed XTC up his ass. As humorous as the post was I would be willing to bet that since the exposure on main stream media there has definitely been a HUGE influx of minors who have no business even trolling a site like SR. It's a shame that Admin can't devise a way to filter the children from the adults.

I'm not sure if you're just trolling or if you're asking what you think are legitimate questions...  ??? ???

Customer support / Re: Selectively scammed?
« on: May 10, 2013, 11:50 pm »
This may seem like a very short reply in response to your rather long post, but the resolution administrator's decision is final. They take into account the histories of both buyer and seller, along with any other evidence presented during the resolution process and come to their decision based on that.

You are advised to read and search the forums before placing an order with any vendor. I'm glad to see that you stayed in escrow, and sorry to see that you didn't get the resolution that you'd asked for, but as mentioned above the administrator's decision is final in such matters.

Regarding 'changing their name', neither vendors nor buyers can change their account name on Silk Road. If they wish to use a new name, the only option they have is to start another vendor account from scratch - the same as anybody wishing to become a vendor.

GoingPostal is a new vendor account with 0 feedback from 0 purchases. If it is found that MarijuanaIsMyMuse has been scamming people then both MarijuanaIsMyMuse and GoingPostal accounts will be suspended. Indeed if you feel that MIMM is scamming, please use the "report this vendor" link on their profile page, and include a brief description of why you are reporting them.

Hey all. Today I received a package from Thailand containing something like 100 little tan round pills with an "S" on one side. They are tiny, about 1/4"  across and 1/8" deep. I don't remember ordering anything from Thailand, and I have no idea what these pills are. Can anyone shed any light on this? I'm almost 100% certain they were sent to me by mistake. And no, I will not send them to you so you can check them out...   ;D

Maybe try the Yahoo! pill identifier?

Scout I think I will hold onto this account.  Most of my issue is just paranoia.  I will eventually switch to a new account until then can you add vendor to my forum name.  Thanks

In order to get the 'Vendor' tag you will need to message Vendor Support once you meet the following criteria:

http://dkn255hz262ypmii.onion/wiki/index.php?title=Vendor_roundtable

Quote
Vendor roundtable

The Vendor roundtable is a private message board on the Silk Road forum for vendors to discuss issues in private. To qualify for access to the board, you must meet the following requirements:

You must have received a bond refund.
Your forum username must be identical to your vendor username
You must keep a link to your vendor page in your forum signature

When you've met these criteria, message Vendor Support and they will give you access.
