packs of 500 delivered anywhere in the US.

Buy some and resale on the road for $10 for 100 labels, free money!!

Very sneaky way of trying to get shipping labels, thetopshelf, but I have to step in here and advise anybody that may be considering opening up a vendor account and attempting this that unless the shipping labels are bought completely anonymously, your payment information will be tied to any package that the labels are put on.

If that package is full of drugs and gets intercepted, well - I don't think I need to explain what would happen next.

Locking this down because it represents a significant risk to the safety of members of this community.

Hey, I'm not planning on firing up a business any time soon, if ever. Like I said, I'm just throwing it out there. While this is the "wild wild West" now, it won't stay that way. I remember getting on the "internet' for the first time in late '94; it was crude, disorganized, and kind of strange. Terms like "e-commerce" were virtually unheard of, and few companies had websites. I think a lot of people viewed it as a curiosity that wouldn't last.

With so much government intrusion already in place, and more coming soon with no end in sight, I see more legitimate business migrating this way. Those with the foresight to see ahead will do well.

You are just throwing it out there, that's fine. I'm simply addressing the issues with what you proposed and how those issues relate to Silk Road and this community.

Is it against the rule to bump your own threads? I'm sorry if it is. I wasn't able to read the forum rules.

Also, what do you want in your avatar? And what's the dimension? ?x?[Width x Height]

No, bumping threads is not against the rules but please don't spam your own threads with 'bumps'; perhaps try add something of interest relating to the thread subject instead.

I'm new to the roads and have some great products to offfer, but I can't  seem to figure it out. Sorry in advance if this is a stupid question.

Hi Dr.Deemz,

You will find all the information tthat you need to get up and running on the Silk Road Wiki:

http://dkn255hz262ypmii.onion/wiki/index.php?title=Frequently_Asked_Questions#Vendor_questions
http://dkn255hz262ypmii.onion/wiki/index.php?title=Seller%27s_Guide

Before purchasing a vendor account, do your research in the Shipping and Security forums to ensure your customers are kept safe.

As for the vendor account itself, you must pay a $500 bond which is refundable when the terms of said bond are met. You can read more about that here:

Rumor mill / Re: MISFIT7 - scamming vendors.

Just had a buyer saying they were short 0.05BTC to make a purchase. So we came to agreement and I sent over the 0.05 being the trustful idiot I am and now he/she says still 0.02 short. I made custom listing and added free postage and arranged for FE and reduced total price by $6. Now Ive got no no response back from this person and been ripped for 0.05BTC which is about $7 around about.

Any Buyer by name "misfit7" is a scammer. probably doing this all day and collecting BTC from vendors promising to make puchase but collecting enough out of them all to go buy some smack or meth.
Vendors beware!!

Why didn't you just create a Gift Code for 0.05 BTC that was only redeemable to your store? ???

I posted a general topic about escrow; not SR specific. I am new around here and have explored some other vendor sites where the escrow/dispute resolution processes seem to be imperfect at best with a lot of complaints. Just spitballing the idea of a service that would perhaps arbitrate/mediate disputes with complete anonymity and without the need for product specifics. And of course, any lawyer contemplating this would need to remain anonymous as well.

I guess the mods hold us to a different standard.

I locked your thread because:

A) Sales are not permitted without a vendor account, and all sales must go through the Silk Road ordering system, thus automatically going through escrow.

B) Sales are not permitted on the forums, full stop. In order to have a need of making use of an external escrow service, the member interested would have to be making a trade outside of the Silk Road ordering system which is not permitted (refer to point A).

C) As you would, by your own admission, be remaining anonymous, there would nothing preventing you from a 'cut and run' should you amass enough Bitcoin in this "escrow" account.

D) Stating that it would be "run by a couple of American lawyers with decades of experience in both civil and criminal law (on the state and federal level) including mediating and/or arbitrating disputes that might arise" was, in my opinion, done in order to add an air of legitimacy and encourage trust in what would most likely turn into a scam, presuming that it is not one from the get-go. If you would be remaining anonymous then it would be pointless to state that as it is entirely unverifiable.

It is not a question of "morals", it is a question of whether or not this would be a legitimate undertaking and whether it is needed. Due to how it would be set up, I formed the opinion that it would be neither.

If you wish to offer an escrow service, feel free to go to bitcointalk.org and present the idea there. I can guarantee, however, that you will be laughed off the forum before your second post on the matter. We - the moderators - are here to protect this community, and that is what I am doing here.

I'd just also like to add that there IS malware out there that specifically targets Bitcoin addresses being copied to your clipboard. When you then paste what you think is your address into a target address field it will actually paste an entirely different Bitcoin address and the BTC will be sent there instead. Please check the first 3, middle 3 and last 3 digits everytime you paste your Bitcoin address somewhere to ensure that it is indeed the same as the address you copied.

I'm not saying that's what happened here, I just want to let people know. You should also fully secure your computer and run intensive anti-malware scans if this ever happens to you, or even if you think it may have been a possibility. A strong anti-virus (I personally use Avira when I'm using a Windows OS) is also essential.

Customer support / Re: Hedged purchase question
« on: May 12, 2013, 02:35 am »
As far as I can tell the price was roughly $113 when you placed the order and $121 when you received your refund. These values will be slightly off as Silk Road uses a 24 hour moving average to calculate Bitcoin's value on the site rather than hourly values.

1.99 BTC @ $113 = $224.87
1.50 BTC @ $121 = $181.50

Difference = $43.37

Hedging fee on $224.87 @ 4% = $8.99.
Note that this can be more, and can be less - from the Seller's Guide:

Quote
You can expect a loss of **about 4%** of your normal payment when using the escrow hedging feature. This is due to the fact that, both when hedging and unhedging, you will lose the bid-ask spread between the available orders that can be used to fill your hedging order.

However, we'll assume 4% for now.

$224.87 - $8.99 = $215.88

$215.88 / $181.50 = 1.189 (which is the difference between the two)

$113 * 1.189 = $134.357, which is the price Bitcoin would have to hit to result in a refund of 0.5 BTC less than you received. Bitcoin has not been at that price since May 1st. Again though, the calculations are certainly off a little due to the fact that Silk Road uses a 24 hour moving average.

Just two more questions that will help me determine what has occurred:
How much is the listing that you bought (in USD), including shipping?
And do you recall exactly how much your refund was in USD when you received it back?

Newbie discussion / Re: Questions about American drug laws?
« on: May 12, 2013, 02:02 am »
I would just like to point out to all members considering relying on the "legal advice" provided here - nobody has any idea who this person is, so the advice that they give out here should not be relied upon as being legally sound. If you're in trouble with the law, consult a legal professional.

Consider this thread and others like it purely a novelty.
