Newbie discussion / Re: Post my public key?
« on: May 12, 2013, 08:19 pm »
Hey all. I have a buyer only account and I was wondering if there's any place to post my public PGP key for vendors to use to contact me.

Thanks for any help.

Hi ahbeu590,

Generally speaking if you think a vendor will require your public PGP key you can include it at checkout with your PGP encrypted address. There is also a thread here that you may post your public PGP key in:

Newbie discussion / Re: Bond price
« on: May 12, 2013, 08:17 pm »
maybe I would let you know how I am able to come about what I get if I actually knew you, I do not have the leisure of giving away how I can do what I do. I have what I have and can sell what I have. It is not always a constant, but I do have my ways. So everyone has their secrets as you have yours I am sure. I do not freely give secrets, I am not asking for anything but help from the people who run SR. Maybe some sort of work around, an extra hold with them after escrow, waiting until true confirmation from buyers that the product is on the up and up. Whatever means to prove I am someone who can be trusted.  I assure you everything I have to sell is real product in a few different categories, my issue is the bond and that is it.

As has been stated above there are NO exceptions to the vendor bond rule. If you wish to sell your items on Silk Road then you must follow the process that has been put in place.

Product requests / Re: I already miss ILF -- Any MDA out there?
« on: May 12, 2013, 08:01 pm »
Is his signature not illegal too then? Or does that part matter? Just can't make posts linking to outside sources?

Or?

Ah yes, I didn't notice that! I haven't slept in ~32 hours so I'm a little jaded. Well spotted, and thank you! I just glanced at it. :-\ Need sleep!

I have edited my post above in regard to this; thanks again! As they are not a Silk Road vendor, however, there isn't much that can be done about it.

Customer support / Re: First Deposit Still Not Showing Up
« on: May 12, 2013, 07:59 pm »

Yes, Libertas

If my account was compromised, I fully understand that it was because of something I either did, did not do, or a combination of both. Either way, I'm not all that worried about it any more. I dumped that account and started fresh. After I made a second test deposit of a very small amount, I went to change my PIN and it seems it was changed already, so now it's locked. I'm starting to think maybe at some point in time I did end up logging in through a phishing site.

I'll keep an eye on it though and if my problem is resolved, great. If not, as you pointed out, it is my own stupid fault.

Nobody is calling you stupid - if it was indeed a fault on your end, to err is to be human! I hope it all works out though; SR Support WILL respond to your message once they see it. I apologise on their behalf for the delay you're experiencing in getting this issue sorted.

Newbie discussion / Re: MoneyPak to BTC...Any reliable vendors?
« on: May 12, 2013, 07:54 pm »
Hi guys,

Just popping in here to remind all members of the following from the SR Wiki:

http://dkn255hz262ypmii.onion/wiki/index.php?title=Buyer%27s_Guide#Getting_Bitcoins

Specifially:
Quote
Please note that, while there are many vendors offering to sell Bitcoins directly from this site, we are not set up to facilitate this and it is very easy to get scammed this way. Until we are set up for it, we recommend you get Bitcoins from a third-party exchange. If you do get scammed we will have no way to help you.

Hy all,

I'm new here, and I want to learn all about the SR. How to have the identity full protected, from where I can buy bit coins anonymous, and I want to start selling weed here, in 5-6 months, first I want to learn how to do all in the most possible secure method. So I will start by reading here on forum, but there are so many information that I don't know from where to start... so if you can give me some topics I will be very grateful. All advices are welcome.

And maybe after you roll your joint, you can tell me your story on how you started on SR, and what security measure you use to protect you, how you send your weed, how is hidden and so one.

For all Romanian here Respect!

Thank you.

Presumably the bond is payable up-front? ie. not possible to work it off with the first few sales?

This is true, it is payable upfront (but it is a bond, not a fee, so it is refundable when the terms of the bond are met). You can read more about the bond here:

http://dkn255hz262ypmii.onion/wiki/index.php?title=Seller%27s_Guide#Bond

Shame. Would be nice if an account could be opened with a minus balance.
Then every time a sale is made, SR takes all the money, this carries on until the fee is paid.
After that, normal sales can start.
Would be a good incentive for new vendors to behave, or for people who have product but can't afford the bond.

Just a thought really
I'm sure people have thoughts on why it can't work. lol..

The bond was introduced to deter scammers. If it worked the other way, starting with a minus balance, a person could simply buy an ounce of weed, sell it all in grams to make up the $500, some buyers would inevitably FE and it would make the bond pointless in the first place. There is incentive with the current system to be a good, legitimate vendor as you can see from the page linked above.

I'm getting a little worried about a vender I have set a small order with.  It is the first time I have used anyone who didn't have dozens of positive feedbacks.  This guy specifically asked in the listing to use a real address and name.

I sent him an address to the public PGP key he listed.  He replied in a message, encrypted to my public key, and gave me a new public key to use for him.  I replied with my address again, but this time to his new key.

I am now thinking that this is sketchy?  Some talks of hacked accounts in some of the other sub-forums. I can't tell if he has changed the public key in the listings. At least I did not use my real address.

Any thoughts for this newbie?

I would be wary of that, but if the new PGP key provided is signed with his former public PGP key then there should be nothing to worry about, presuming that the vendor did not give his private PGP key to anybody else. You would need to know his former public PGP key to be able to verify if the new key is signed with it.

It does seem strange that he could not decrypt the message you sent him, so provided a new PGP key for you to use. I would personally have steered clear of this one, though it may turn out that there is nothing wrong at all and the vendor simply didn't take the precaution of backing up their private PGP key and their PGP program somehow became corrupted.

Just to clarify, other accounts were NOT hacked - they were phished. The vendors in those cases went to a phishing site that was set up to target vendors, entered their login details and PIN and lost control of their accounts as a result.

Please note that Silk Road will NEVER ask you for your PIN, no matter what. Also, please always ensure that you are visiting the correct URL:

Newbie discussion / Re: Email like Tormail?
« on: May 12, 2013, 07:38 pm »
Tormail is not safe by default, nor is Countermail nor any other mail service that you may wish to use. Do not get lulled into a false sense of security when communicating via these methods. ALWAYS use PGP to encrypt your messages, and only access your email provider through Tor if using them for business that is in any way illegal.

Hey everyone. I'm new to the Road. I've ordered two things so far. One came in in two days and I'm still waiting on the other one (marked "in transit" 1 week ago). I was wondering what kind of policies are in place to protect buyers. I know that I can file a dispute if I don't receive the product, but the vendor has 100+ feedback and I'm a new buyer so I doubt they'd side with me. Should I just wait it out, and if I don't get it, cut my losses?

Hi abeu590,

The administrator takes a number of factors into account when making their decision, not just the fact that a vendor has high feedback and the buyer is a new member. Please also note that although you may be a little anxious (and I fully understand that), packages do take varying amounts of time to reach their destinations.
Please read the following over on the SR Wiki:

http://dkn255hz262ypmii.onion/wiki/index.php?title=Frequently_Asked_Questions#Order_questions
http://dkn255hz262ypmii.onion/wiki/index.php?title=Buyer%27s_Guide#Escrow

Quote
My order hasn't arrived or it's not what I expected.

If your order hasn't come after waiting 10 days, you should click "resolve" next to it on your orders page. This will put the order into resolution. Read all of the instructions in the Resolution Center, and try to come to an agreeable resolution with your vendor.

Clicking on the resolution button automatically extends the period until an administrator will see it by 5 days (for a total of 22 days from the date of the order).

Leaving an order 'til the last day to finalise or take into reslution is highly inadvisable for a number of reasons, one of which is in case you have login issues (meaning that your order would auto-finalise and hurt your stats), and another is that the vendor will be expecting the payment at the end of day 17. If you enter resolution and propose an extension on the final day - or the day before that - then the vendor is suddenly forced to wait an extra X amount of days rather than knowing beforehand that there would be a delay in getting paid.

Resolution is an incredibly common process, and taking an issue to resolution does not impact negatively on the vendor in any way, shape or form.

Customer support / Re: First Deposit Still Not Showing Up
« on: May 12, 2013, 07:20 pm »
Since the other thread got locked that I was posting in,  I decided to go ahead and just update everyone on my situation and let you know that my particular issue remains unresolved at the time of this posting.

On May 8, I made a .45BTC test deposit into my SR account.  No luck. It never showed. I could see it in my account history but my balance remained zero.

On May 9, after a 24 hour wait, I entered a support ticket realizing that there was a 48 hour backlog.

As of this time on May 12, no word from support yet on what the problem is or whether I can ever expect to see the money in my account. I'll add that we're well past 48 hours, so I expect that I should hear something from them today?

I will say that the moderators here have been as helpful as they can be, and I have no complaints with them whatsoever. I'd just like to know, one way or the other, what happened to my money and whether it just evaporated into the ether or some scammer's pocket, or whether it's one of those occasions where it just needs to be manually pushed through. I'm hoping for the 2nd scenario, but I'm prepared for the first.

I'll let everyone know when the issue is resolved, hopefully today.

Sincere Thanks to Libertas and scout for taking the time that they have to work with me on this.

****UPDATE****

I changed my password and my pin, and then just posted another test deposit of .01 BTC into my account and it showed up as available in about a half an hour.  So, at this time I am assuming that I am another poor sap that got his account compromised somehow and had his money stolen. When support gets back with me and confirms this, or gives me the happy news that they've pushed my initial deposit through, I will let you all know.

Hi mrmilleripresume,

As there is nothing more that can be done in this instance from our end, you will unfortunately have to play the waiting game on this one and wait for SR Support to get back to you.

I do have to address one statement in your post though:

Accounts cannot just "[get] compromised somehow" - the only ways for your account to be compromised are if you enter your login details to a phishing site; you give your login information to others; there is a keylogger active on your machine and it is logging your keystrokes; or somebody guessed your password (I presume it was not something simple, so you can discount this last possibility). Every person is responsible for their own security here, and they are literally the ONLY ways your account could have been compromised, if that is indeed what has happened.

« on: May 12, 2013, 07:08 pm »
wtf dude???
you think im a cup????
im just looking for weed and im prefer to get it in my country
and our cups in israel are very hard to treat
and believe me if i was a cup i think i would do better job then post that message

No, I do not think you are a cup. I think you are a human being, albeit a particularly dull one that works as a government thug and interferes with people's natural right to put whatever they wish into their own bodies. You are, perhaps, socially conditioned to think that what you are doing is 'right' and 'just', but the law of man CANNOT supercede the law of nature. Try controlling the elements to see just how futile that is.

If you wish to search for domestic weed vendors in your country, set your location to 'Israel' and tick the 'domestic only' box. The tactics you are employing are LAUGHABLE. I really hope your supervising officer doesn't see this. I mean I really, really do; demotion is on the cards for you, and possibly a bulletin put out to all members of your agency letting them know that you gave yourself up within two (yes, read it: TWO!) posts on this forum. Better luck next time.

Locking this as an answer to the OP's query has been given.
