Rumor mill / Re: TheTopShelf Reveiw Thread
« on: May 14, 2013, 03:20 am »
Can someone post the link to the thread where the admins pulled his account?  That gives me the slightest bit of tiny shiver of hope, though I'm sure it is for nothing.  That explanation at least makes more sense than a successful scam shutting itself down before it would make sense.  What conversations happened between the admins and the vendor that made them shut him down?  There hadn't even been enough time for packages to arrive and he was shut down already?  Seems like a precautionary move by SR staff maybe, and all hope is  not lost???  Link to more info please.

The thread you're looking for does not exist. What others are talking about was my statement that the vendor's account has been suspended whilst under investigation - specifically, until administrators find out the full story. However, given all of the available evidence to hand, I believe the chances are 'needle-in-a-haystack-inside-a-haybarn-surrounded-by-hayfields' small that his vending privileges will be reinstated.

Sorry folks, but anyone who FE'd has almost certainly lost their money.  :(

Off topic / Re: Would you like to see Litecoin on SR?
« on: May 14, 2013, 02:54 am »
how is this considered Off Topic?

it's a discussion, about Silk road

if only there was a forum for it...

Hi shimbabwe,

I moved this to Off topic as it is a discussion about Litecoin and the desire to see it integrated into Silk Road, not a discussion about Silk Road itself nor Silk Road's current features etc.

If you need to store or mix coins, check out:

http://ow24et3tetp6tvmk.onion/

I'm gonna go ahead and advise people to stick with BitcoinFog for now, or blockchain.info's mixing service. Whilst you may lose your Bitcoin anytime you send them to someone else, BitcoinFog and blockchain.info have longer histories and are regarded as reputable. Perhaps if OnionWallet is still around in a year, consider giving them a try.

Damn, so it would be unwise to deal with him off the road or Atlantis?  I've been dealing with him since he was on the road.

I think that goes without saying, B Rock. ???

Customer support / Re: My vendor account has been hacked
« on: May 14, 2013, 12:09 am »
Yeah that is exactly what happened, i clicked on a link in a message that i received in my vendor account and entered my password, I was then asked for my pin which i did not provide, I then closed the link and have been unable to log on since, which i put down to the recent problems sr has been having recently, Thanks for the advice anyway.
cm.

The fact that you did not give them your PIN may be your saving grace here, CrystalMethod uk. Other vendors have had their accounts cleaned out. Please make a thread in the main Silk Road discussion forum similar to the following in order to let your customers know what has happened:

http://dkn255hz262ypmii.onion/index.php?topic=158092.0
http://dkn255hz262ypmii.onion/index.php?topic=157748.0

It is important to note that any customers that placed orders but did not encrypt their addresses via PGP have now had their details compromised. You will have to let them know that. Not sure why the people currently in control of your account are requesting FE if they can't get the money out, but perhaps they're attempting to brute-force your PIN - I hope it is sufficiently complex!

In any case, Silk Road will NEVER ask you for your PIN, and any changes such as a vendor panel etc., were they to happen, would be signed with DPR's public key which you should ALWAYS verify.

EDIT: scout got there before me! :)

Newbie discussion / Re: Deposit/Account Help
« on: May 14, 2013, 12:08 am »
I posted the following a little while ago, but then noticed I posted under a completely different topic and wasn't sure if anyone would see it.... So here it is again...

Hello SR!  Great to find this site.   However, as I'm sure many newbies before me have said this as well, I'm still a bit lost on putting money in my account.  I have the address (from my account) that it tells me to send to, but how do I go about the sending?  Do I have to purchase bitcoins, or can I deposit USD?  If I can deposit USD, how do I do it?  I've read the SR Wiki, but I guess I'm missing something...

As I said, I'm sure someone or many of you have already answered this/these questions numerous times already, so I apologize for asking you to reiterate it.  However, I'm dying to make a purchase but obviously need money in my account to do so...

Any/all help is much appreciated..

Hi jack909,

Silk Road discussion / Re: message subject checking in?????
« on: May 13, 2013, 11:49 pm »
Received a message from SR staff saying:
One or more of your shipments have not been confirmed in over 10 days . Please finalize any shipments that have arrived, or click "resolve" next to the ones that have not arrived. If you do nothing, your payment will be released to your vendor 17 days after your order was shipped.

Is this just a heads up on saying i only have a few days or should i be a bit more concerned. Don't want to really bug the seller till maybe a week or 5 days left to auto finalize.

Just wanted to throw this in, further to scout's response.

My order hasn't arrived or it's not what I expected.

If your order hasn't come after waiting 10 days, you should click "resolve" next to it on your orders page. This will put the order into resolution. Read all of the instructions in the Resolution Center, and try to come to an agreeable resolution with your vendor.

Placing your order into resolution early avoids a whole host of issues, among them the issue of a vendor expecting their payment on day 17 or before, only to find out at the last minute that the buyer has put the order into resolution so they will have to wait at least 5 days more.

Another reason to put the order into resolution after day 10 instead of at the last minute is in case there are site connectivity issues - if that were to happen, you risk having your order auto-finalise which would negatively impact your stats.

In any event, clicking the resolution button automatically extends the order time by 5 days and you can still finalise the order at any time by clicking 'finalise' - once you have received it, of course.

You can read more about the ordering process (including the resolution center process) here:

I'm looking for an eWallet service for short term (1 day) storage of a tiny quantity of bitcoin. Any recommendations?

I've been searching all over, but the two most popular are dead (Mybitcoin, Instawallet). Can somebody PLEASE point my in the right direction?

Thanks!

There is no need to post new threads asking the same question over and over again.

blockchain.info is generally seen as reputable if you are looking for a web based wallet. However, please heed my advice in your two other threads here:

100 posts are so far without spamming .

I will remember and give you carma later  8)

It can seem that way! Spam posts are generally tolerated in the 'spam to 50' threads as long as the member does not spam in any threads where actual discussion is taking place. ;)

Customer support / Re: Locked out with a correct pin?
« on: May 13, 2013, 10:54 pm »
I just tried to buy for the first time but on entering my pin i got a message saying it was wrong, i tried again and then tried my previous pin which didn't work either. At this point i went into the account settings and changed to a new pin I then logged back in using the new password i had set up and entered the new pin -I'm pretty much 100% certain that i entered it correctly but it didn't work.  After that I was locked out of the account for 72 hours. Could this be due to an error or am I going crazy here?

Hi Drumblue91,

Please see here:

PIN

When you register an account on Silk Road, you must create a PIN. Your PIN is in addition to your login passphrase and is required when making a purchase, transferring funds, withdrawing funds, and when making important updates.

If you forget your PIN, you will have 5 chances to enter it correctly before it is locked. After your 5th unsuccessful try, you will be redirected to the homepage where you will be shown a message with the time remaining before you can unlock your PIN. After waiting for the allotted time, that message will turn into a link to a page where you can create a new PIN.

If you see this message, but you have not used your 5 PIN entry attempts, it could mean that someone else has gained access to your account and is trying to reset your PIN. If this is the case, you should change your password asap and change your PIN once the wait time is over.
