Newbie discussion / Re: I cant login to my account
« on: May 14, 2013, 05:05 pm »
Hi. I can't login to my account. I know I didn't change my passphrase. I created another account and  sent support a message giving them the bitcoin address for that account, but I cant get a response and I was hoping to have my passphrase reset before some one takes my btc. What do I do now?

Hi nmrpv,

Please see DPR's statement here regarding Support delays:
http://dkn255hz262ypmii.onion/index.php?topic=159668.0

The ONLY way someone else can gain access to your account is if you enter your login details into a phishing site or if there is a keylogger / datalogger installed on your computer.
ALWAYS ensure that you are using the correct URL:

silkroadvb5piz3r.onion

Silk Road will NEVER ask you for your PIN.
You have already messaged SR Support, but I'll leave this here for others who may be reading it and cannot access their accounts:

Quote
I forgot my passphrase.

You must create a new account and message support with the last address you deposited bitcoins to, along with any other information that can help us connect you to the account.

Newbie discussion / Re: Login issue with character captcha?
« on: May 14, 2013, 05:00 pm »
Hi folks,

The three character captcha issue arose as a result of site hardening changes; it is nothing to worry about - simply keep refreshing you get a full length captcha.

Working to overcome the DoS attack, and focusing our efforts on keeping the site open and operating smoothly has left the support system a bit backed up.  Customer support messages are up to 4 days old, and resolutions awaiting a decision from an admin are up to 12 days old.  We are doing our best to get this back under control while keeping focus on defense and site availability.

I appreciate your patience as we get caught up :)

Thanks for the update, DPR. :)

I've got 6 days left til mines auto finalises am I better resolving it now just incase?

Off topic / Re: Would you like to see Litecoin on SR?
« on: May 14, 2013, 04:33 pm »
ok kind of splitting hairs but its not a huge deal

heavily invested in bitcoin are we?

My decision to move this to Off topic was made for the reason outlined in my previous post; my own personal investments, regardless of what those might be, do not affect the decisions I make as a forum moderator.

In the interest of full disclosure, however: my current crypto-currency holdings are roughly split between 65% Bitcoin and 35% Litecoin; I also mine Litecoin on a small scale.

Litecoin being accepted on Silk Road would make me significantly wealthier, but I do not think it is ever going to happen as there is absolutely no need for it due to the divisibility of Bitcoin.

I am contemplating ordering from a vendor that states on his profile, that if you FE, you are eligible for 75% refunds from him and if you dont, you are only eligible for 25% refunds

There is also another part stating that there is a maximum of $500 for refunds

The seller in question has a proven, albeit relatively small, track record of delivering what he says he will. For that reason, as of yet, the sellers legitimacy isn't in question in my mind and I dont want to discuss anything regarding opinions or theories on this practice

What id like to know is, if I did order from him and the order didn't arrive, for whatever reason, and the transaction was progressed to SR escrow staff... Would they do as they always do, take a neutral view and decide upon the facts presented, stick to their set rules and then come to a decision?

Or would they allow the vendors stipulated rules regarding refunds to take over, and refund according to those?

Hi Imperialised,

The vendor's refund policy IS taken into account if/when an order is being decided upon in resolution (as you willfully agree to the vendor's policies upon ordering from them); however, the administrator takes a number of things into account when deciding on a resolution:

Silk Road discussion / Re: Cannot log in, verification problems
« on: May 14, 2013, 04:09 pm »
Is there any chance this is a phishing attack?  I've noticed multiple people claiming they've had their passwords and PIN's hijacked as of late.

No, this is not a phishing attack. The people having their accounts compromised are giving their details to phishers on fake 'SR login' sites.

Silk Road will NEVER ask you for your PIN, and the ONLY Silk Road URL in use is silkroadvb5piz3r.onion

Customer support / Re: HELP PLEASE!
« on: May 14, 2013, 04:02 pm »
I contacted the seller from my tester account and they said someone has requested to cancel the order i posted.

Is there anything i can do to stop it being cancelled?

Nothing from customer support yet... I don't want to lose out!!

If that is the case then your account has been compromised. This can only occur if you enter your login details (and usually PIN) into a site that is NOT silkroadvb5piz3r.onion, or if you have had a keylogger installed on your system. Silk Road will NEVER ask you for your PIN.

The person in control of your account is trying to cancel your order so as your Bitcoin will be refunded to your account and they can then withdraw it. There is no way to stop the vendor cancelling your order other than explaining that your account has been compromised and asking them not to do so.

Contact SR Support IMMEDIATELY letting them know that your account has been compromised and you need to have your passphrase and PIN reset. You can directly message them here:
http://silkroadvb5piz3r.onion/messages/send_message/104259

Please include the following information:

Customer support / Re: Kicked off The Road Suddenly / No Access
« on: May 14, 2013, 03:33 pm »
Hi folks,

You will not be able to login to the site when you see a 3 character captcha. Please refresh the page until you see a full-length captcha and you should be able to login just fine. The captcha software doesn't always play nice with site hardening measures is all.

Thread locked as resolved.

i dont know whats up with this vendor, but has he gone awol again?

his profile makes it sound like its back to normal etc but an order that was made well b4 deadline yestrdy didnt arrive!
last time there was a few days delay but it did show up so i was happy but got a hectic week and need to cancel with this guy if its not being sent until thursday.

problem is he doesnt seem to reply to ANYONE, so im guessing his inbox must be too  pumped because iv never had a reply from him.

funny thing is the order went into 'transit' mode within 45mins or so which made me excited but now dont know if its getting sent thursday or wtf?!

i wish there was a way to cancel an order without having to ask the vendor to arrange it . is there a way around this?

i guess ill wait until tmorow b4 i try and speak to admin.

Hi Tropicbabez1,

You can cancel an order when a vendor takes longer than 4 days to process it, a vendor can cancel an order upon request, or the order can be taken to resolution if it does not show up within 10 days of being marked 'in transit'.

Please see the SR Wiki here for an outline of the ordering process:
http://dkn255hz262ypmii.onion/wiki/index.php?title=The_ordering_process

It is up to each member to do their due diligence before committing to a purchase; please read the forums, review vendor feedback and ensure you're comfortable ordering before actually placing the order.

Thread locked as original poster has not commented on it since April 26th, and their issue is presumed resolved.
