Newbie discussion / Re: How does commission pricing work?

Thank you so much! This is great information.

You're very welcome! :)

In the UK, it would be at the moment you are depositing bitcoins into your SilkRoad account as this shows a clear step towards intending to purchase and as such you can be charged with conspiracy to import a controlled substance. How it turns out in court will be another matter all-together though.

I'm not so sure on that, StExo; Silk Road is simply a marketplace - it is not solely a drug marketplace (nor was it intended to be solely drug marketplace!) and there are legal items for sale on it. This situation would be similar to logging on to a site such as eBay if it had it's own wallet system: even though there may be items that are illegal in your jurisdiction (stun-guns, firearms etc.) simply loading your eBay account with funds would not be breaking the law.

Actually adding an illegal item to your cart (or showing intent to purchase it in any other way) would *imply* intent to import a controlled item, though it would not *prove* intent so they wouldn't win in court. I think that an actual "crime" is committed (as in one they could actually prosecute for) once you have hit the 'place order' button and purchased an item that is illegal in your jurisdiction, or sent an address for delivery of same, as that would constitute direct intent to import a controlled item.

Did you finalize early?

I did not

I would advise you to take the order to resolution and state your case to the administrator presiding over it.

Lets say I want to sell an item and I want $120 for it. Which option should I choose so that whatever commission SR gets is added ontop of that $120?

Hi Dolla4BTC,

The SR Commission schedule can be found here:
http://dkn255hz262ypmii.onion/index.php?topic=100160.msg702790#msg702790

More information about the SR pricing structures can be found here:
http://dkn255hz262ypmii.onion/index.php?topic=37765.msg429683#msg429683

I believe what you want in this case is pre-commission pricing.

Hi klaw239,

As posted in response to your PM:

Is this the first time you have made a deposit to that particular Silk Road account (is it a new account?)

The 'get new address' clickable link is still there, I just checked myself to be sure. If it is a new account you will have to click the link that you see, read the information that pops up and your deposit address will be at the bottom of that.

If it is not a new account, please log out and log back in to see if that resolves the issue.

Please let me know if you're successful or not.

Customer support / Re: Hacked Passphrase?
« on: May 15, 2013, 03:47 pm »
Hi all,

Per scout's suggestion, I'm cross posting this here from the newbie thread.

__________________________

SF was working fine earlier this morning (14th), until I was "disconnected".

I tried to reconnect several times without success. I noticed that the Tor update icon was flashing, and updated.

Still no luck logging in. I tried on my other computer (both are Macs running latest OS and latest Tor). No luck.

I tried creating a new SR account, and have been able to log in successfully.

I'm assuming someone figured out my passphrase, switched it out, and has locked my out of my account. Is that a fair assumption to make?

If so, do I have any recourse?

thx in advance.

EDIT: Since that time, I've messaged Support requesting to have my passphrase reset, and am currently awaiting a response.

Thanks!

Hi alexcutter,

If you were able to log in successfully on a new account but not on your old account then that narrows it down to an account-specific problem. Whilst its highly unlikely that someone figured out your passphrase (if it was in any complex), it is a possibility. There is also a minor possibility that there is an issue with your login credentials on Silk Road's end. It is more likely, however, that you entered your details into a site other the Silk Road and were the victim of phishing. If you have ever entered your PIN at login, that is what happened.

There is a page on the SR Wiki about phishing here:
http://dkn255hz262ypmii.onion/wiki/index.php?title=Trust_and_phishing

Please ensure that you ONLY access Silk Road at its correct URL:
silkroadvb5piz3r.onion

The only way this site will change is if DPR puts out a PGP signed message to that effect (which you should personally verify).

If you were a victim of phishing I'm afraid there is no recourse as Bitcoin transactions are irreversible by design and each member is responsible for their own security. Please ensure that your system is free from keyloggers / dataloggers and that you only ever enter your details into the URL above. Silk Road will NEVER ask you for your PIN.

You may be waiting a while for Support to get back to you due to a backlog; please see DPR's statement regarding that here:

Silk Road discussion / Re: Need advice
« on: May 15, 2013, 03:28 pm »
I think this thread has run its course. The OP knows what to do in future situations, the vendor has cancelled and refunded the buyer despite insisting that the package was sent and delivered and I'm sure he knows by now the opinion that others are developing. It has just devolved into a thread attacking the vendor, completely separate to the thread's topic.

Does anyone disagree with me locking this?

Customer support / Re: First Deposit Still Not Showing Up
« on: May 15, 2013, 03:23 pm »
Alright guys, this issue is resolved. The official word from SR support is that if I did not withdraw that .45 BTC, then my account was hacked. The fact is that i did not withdraw it, and someone else has stolen my money. I hope they buy some bad heroin with it and meet their unhappy end tits up in a bathtub somewhere. Not a pretty sight and a bad way to go. I've seen it.

Thanks again to the moderators here who have done their best to help me out.

Hi mrmilleripresume,

Sorry to hear that your account was compromised, and very sorry that it took that long to get the issue dealt with by Support. Keep your eye on the Off topic forum over the weekend, the mods will be running a little something that might help soften the blow of losing your BTC. :)

Locking as resolved.

Customer support / Re: Resolution taking beyond forever
« on: May 15, 2013, 03:20 pm »
Hi my resolution has been under review since may 6th in a few hours it will be 10 days.  no one from resolution has said anything to me this is getting pretty ridiculous and frustrating. I can't come to an agreement with the vendor because he's garbage I need support to step in but no one has yet.  I checked the forum everyone saying average time is 48 hours I'm way passed that what do I do?

Hi bigdaddykane447,

Please see DPR's statement on the resolution delays here:

Newbie discussion / Re: Can't post in all forms
« on: May 15, 2013, 01:02 pm »
Hi,

Why can't I post things in Rumor Mill? Is there some kind of posts limit needed?

Grtzz

Hi rollmeup,

As Chronos has stated, you need 50 posts in order to be able to post in the main forums. Until then you can post in the Newbie forum, and the Support forums if you have any issues on Silk Road.

Oh, how do i go about getting a forged bank account in the US? Dont see that service anywhere.

It is highly unlikely that anyone you find on the deepweb will be providing such a service. If you see it advertised it is most likely a scam. However, there is at least one genuine vendor on Silk Road offering a fully anonymous bank account for a price (though I believe this is based in a European bank).

Libertas

Did I miss something? Didn't the OP say he was in EU? If he did then this could be an option for the OP and it wouold be great  it is a EU bank....

You missed a little, RxKing. ;) OP says he is in EU, but my response was to railroadbill, who is in the US. :P
