Customer support / Re: Locking my Pin
« on: May 17, 2013, 07:10 pm »
I guess nobody is gonna talk to me about this... 58 hours left, jesus.  I really hope this is the last time this happens.  A question, if anyone will answer... is there a specific way to go about pins, cause I put up a rediculous number 10 + characters...   I dont know if sr didn't register my change, cause I have changed it four times and its worked each time I changed it... I dont know why suddenly on my very first order this bit of bad karma comes down on my head.  Well somebody talk to me if they will, plz.. thanks

Hi Amaranth,

Apologies, but we can't be online 24/7. The only way that your PIN could have been locked is if you entered it incorrectly 5 times. Again, that is the ONLY way a PIN can be locked. If the page when you changed your PIN didn't load then yes, it is possible that the PIN change was not completed.

Please see the SR Wiki here:
http://dkn255hz262ypmii.onion/wiki/index.php?title=PIN

Long PINs are recommended by Silk Road, but please make sure you do not forget it. Simple things like using CAPS, spaces or symbols in the wrong places are the most common reasons for people locking their PIN.

Customer support / Re: BTC Buddy Absolutely SCAMMER
« on: May 17, 2013, 07:01 pm »
Usually I buy bitcoins from a reputable seller and never had a problem, I just send him a mp and he responds with the data for the transfer ... I live in sudamerica, so that the transfers by western union is my only option.

When btc buddy sent me the deposit data I realized that not yet bought his item, which would serve in case something went wrong. I know that was a stupid but I trusted the reputation and wanted him to be processed as quickly as possible.

I send the data to withdraw money and after 24 hours of delays he responded to one of my mp: (in the first messages he lingered less than 10 minutes to respond)
Bundy:            <hello. .. you did you get my deposit?
BTC Buddy :  < not yet buddy *(13 hours after)
Bundy:            < and when? :(    *(no response)
Bundy:            <**after a lot of mp from me
BTC Buddy :  <too many messages and i cant reply. (he takes me 30 hours to respond that)

... Now I'm sure, he cheated me with $ 400

if any moderator wants to check my pm's, I can give my login to my account for verification.
Thank you

Hi Bundy,

I have alerted administrators to this issue.

Please read the following from the SR Wiki:

Quote
Please note that, while there are many vendors offering to sell Bitcoins directly from this site, we are not set up to facilitate this and it is very easy to get scammed this way. Until we are set up for it, we recommend you get Bitcoins from a third-party exchange. If you do get scammed we will have no way to help you.

I need help with a bitcoin transaction from a Silk Road vendor.

Unfortunately we do not offer support for these kinds of transactions because we cannot hold your payment in escrow. If there is an issue, you'll have to work it out directly with your vendor.

As you can see above, Silk Recommends that you do NOT use Bitcoin exchangers operating on Silk Road to get your Bitcoin.

Very sorry you got scammed, but there is unfortunately nothing we can do in this instance. As I stated earlier, BTC Buddy has been reported up to the administrators, and hopefully they will be able to deal with the matter.

Technical support / Re: error when confirming order
« on: May 17, 2013, 06:56 pm »
I place an order with a vendor for 3 items but it seems one of the items has duplicated. I don't know how this is possible as I never had enough BTC of the total order that is processing. I sent a PM to the vendor anyway.

Hi somepup,

Do you mean that the order went through for 2 of the same item, even though you didn't have enough BTC to cover the order?

Hey, CaliMeds was recently banned for scamming I believe and I was wondering how long until my money from escrow (~900) is released back into my account?

Hi phave,

In this situation you simply have to wait until the 'resolve' button appears and you can then take it to resolution and request a 100% refund. In cases where the vendor has been banned, a refund should not affect your stats.

Please mention this in the resolution center to ensure the administrator does not forget, and you can back it up with the SR Wiki here:

Locking this as you already have two threads in Technical Support regarding this issue, and I have given you instruction on what to do there:

http://dkn255hz262ypmii.onion/index.php?topic=160040.msg1130705#msg1130705

The first link will solve your problem.

And yes, Bitcoin addresses ARE case-sensitive. If you type the wrong address, your funds will be sent elsewhere. Please copy and paste Bitcoin addresses to ensure that it is always correct.

Taken from the Bitcoin wiki:

Quote
Addresses are case sensitive and exact

Bitcoin addresses are case-sensitive. Bitcoin addresses should be copied and pasted using the computer's clipboard wherever possible. If you hand-key a Bitcoin address, and each character is not transcribed exactly - including capitalization - the incorrect address will most likely be rejected by the Bitcoin software. You will have to check your entry and try again.

The probability that a mistyped address is accepted as being valid is 1 in 2 to the power of 32, that is, approximately 1 in 4.29 billion.

« on: May 17, 2013, 06:25 pm »
Libertas just wanted to give you an update on my situation. I made 2 transfers to my SR address, one for like $3 that was left-over in my Blockchain wallet and one for $300 that I had in my MT Gox account. The small order from BlockChain arrived no problem, but nothing on the MT Gox transfer. Checking BlockChain there is absolutely no info on the MT Gox transfer, nothing. Do you think this is an issue with MT Gox?
I have checked and the transfer was going to the same address for both transfers.

Thanks for the update, hondo63. If there is no information on blockchain.info regarding your transfer then it was never sent by Mt.Gox. I'm afraid you will have to get in touch with them about it. I believe a number of people are experiencing such problems with Mt.Gox and this may be related to the issues they are having in the US. They are the only ones that can sort out the missing transfer in any event.

Please see the SR Wiki here:

Quote
Why isn't my deposit showing up in my account?

It can take up to 6 hours for a deposit to be confirmed on the blockchain, processed, and credited to your Silk Road account. If your deposit still hasn't shown up, first check that it is showing up on the blockchain by searching for your deposit address on a site like blockchain.info. If your transfer doesn't appear here, then it was never sent and you need to find out why from the person or organization who initiated the transfer. If the transfer does appear, then there could be a problem on our end and you should contact us.

Hope you can get it sorted out with them.

I just had a quick question that hopefully someone can answer for me. I sent a message to myself on the road and I can delete the message from the inbox folder but when I go to the sent folder and try to delete the copy that I sent it won't delete. Any help would be much appreciated.

Hi DanDanTheIceCreamMan,

I have experienced this in the past; I don't think you can actually delete messages that you send to yourself. I recall having he same issue a number of weeks ago on my buyer account. However, all messages are automatically deleted from your inbox after 1 / 2 months, but these are kept (encrypted) on the Silk Road servers for 3 months in order to deal with any issues that may arise.

Once all things have been finalized or is there no way to delete it?

Hi londonpride2,

No, there is no way to delete your Silk Road account. However, it will be archived if you remove all funds from it and do not log in for several months. Please see the SR Wiki here:

http://dkn255hz262ypmii.onion/wiki/index.php?title=Frequently_Asked_Questions#Will_my_account_be_deleted_for_inactivity.3F

As far as I am aware if your account gets archived and you are able to create a new account with the same name, the former account is overwritten.

Very sad to see you go though; you seemed like you'd fit in very well here.

Libertas,
Thanks for the response I will give it some time to see if the BC show up. I access MT Gox on the clearnet with a different browser, but I do have the Tor browser open as well. I thought that would be OK as long as I didn't access MT Gox from Tor (I assumed that they are two different programs that have no link to each other). Thanks again for the help.

Yup, that setup won't cause any problems with Mt.Gox.
Just be sure not to log in to your Gox account with Tor by accident - it's happened in the past to people here!

Libertas

Finally, this question answered by a mod! Thank goodness. I was wondering about the two browsers at once thing for a while! Thanks libertas :)
OP, good luck and hope it comes through soon for you :)

Woooaaah, hold up there! I said it wouldn't cause any problems with Mt.Gox! There are many reasons you should not be using Tor and another browser at the same time; I simply stated that it wouldn't cause any problems with the Mt.Gox account!
