Customer support / Re: Old account login fall
« on: May 19, 2013, 04:58 pm »
I think i know how it is possible that i can not login on my old mindgamer account. Because i log in on this website: http://silkroj4o6v34zil.onion/

And that website is a scam i think. I found it on the hidden wiki page. What can i do now? Can someone change my password?

Yes, I'm afraid you have fallen victim to a well-known phishing website. :(
If you also entered your PIN then the phishers will have removed any Bitcoin that were in your account.

In order to reset your password, you'll have to follow the instructions here:
http://dkn255hz262ypmii.onion/wiki/index.php?title=Frequently_Asked_Questions#I_forgot_my_passphrase.

The ONLY active Silk Road URL is silkroadvb5piz3r.onion, and Silk Road will NEVER ask you for your PIN at login.

Hello,

I can not login on my old account. The username was: mindgamer. I had money and transactions on that account. Why is this happening? The password and username was correct. Still it says that the login falls. A new account works well.

Can someone please help me to get back my old mindgamer account?

Hi mindgamer,

Please see the SR Wiki entry here:
http://dkn255hz262ypmii.onion/wiki/index.php?title=Frequently_Asked_Questions#Will_my_account_be_deleted_for_inactivity.3F

Quote
Will my account be deleted for inactivity?

Accounts with zero balance will be archived if not logged into for several months. If you suspect your account has been archived, try creating a new user with the same name. If you cannot, then the account still exists.

From how the above reads it would seem that your account no longer exists - however, the term 'archived' confuses the issue. Send a message to SR Support including any details you can remember about the account (the last SR deposit address, any transactions etc.) and they MAY be able to help you out, however there is no guarantee that the account still exists.

You can contact SR Support directly here:

Newbie discussion / Re: Buying BTC from home..,
« on: May 19, 2013, 04:42 pm »
Is it possible to just load a prepay credit card to buy coins from home anonymously?

Any business that accepts a wholly reversible method of payment for something that is entirely irreversible would be in business for all of about 3 minutes, TheDreadedFree. :P

So that's a no, I'm afraid. It was tried before but the company that offered it were targeted by people who were using stolen credit card details and after they'd sent out the Bitcoin, the banks got on to them and reversed the credit card transactions leaving the Bitcoin seller with no money and no Bitcoin!

If I recall correctly there IS a site that will allow you to buy very minute amounts (I'm talking 0.01 BTC amounts) using a credit card, but they require "CIA Top Secret" style identity verification so it really wouldn't be worth it!

...hmmm...

c:\> Abort, Retry or Ignore?

lol.

Yeah, I could have a bash. :)

 ;D

If anything it would have to be a thread where all members contribute, then another member / group collates all the information and a mod edits it into the original post. Quite a large undertaking, I'd imagine!

thx libertas for the info... it's still 13 days till auto finalize so i guess i can not go to resolution for the next at least 10 days is that right?

i mean i would be willing to accept a partial refund if the letter was intercepted like in my country... but it's not.. so i see all the fault at sellers site for sloppy packing... also there are more and more complaints from other users about this!!

The option to enter resolution will appear 10 days from the date the order was placed in transit so that should be about 6 days from now.

Indeed, if the package didn't even make it out of the origin country the vendor will likely have to up their game in the packaging department!

Newbie discussion / Re: COINMAMA.COM - LEGIT OR SHIT?
« on: May 19, 2013, 03:29 pm »
Yeah I agree, I did a who is on the site and saw when it was created but I missed the whole isreal angle, if you attempt to use the service they ask you to send a wire to a guy in germany.... supposedly they used to accept paypal and then quit, but some underlying part of my subconcious screams scam everytime I look at there site....

It's all a bit too.. 'polished', or something. And I can't find a single report of anybody who has actually used them, which is rather off-putting indeed.

Ok so basically my subject says it all, has anyone used coinmama before, the poetic justice of using my credit card to buy bitcoins is a hard thing for me to pass on but essentially you end up just wiring the site money via moneygram and that just seems rife with scam written all over it, however I emailed the site and they were super quick to write back and seemed somewhat solid to converse with.... the site makes my "5piz3r sense" tingle so I figured I would ask around and seee if anyone on SR had attempted to use the site? Thanks guys!

I'm not sure I'd trust a site so new with my money, and the date of registration along with the fact that it is based out of Israel concerns me to the recent .onion site "bust" in or around that time. I don't know what it is, but something just doesn't seem right about it.

They do seem to be attempting to build a presence over at bitcointalk.org but if it were me, I would wait a few months to see what, if anything, comes out of the woodwork here.

« on: May 19, 2013, 02:36 pm »
Good day !

like many of this kind of topics about Sr sellers....the topic starters not always give a follow up...

all is resolved nicely with this Buyer from USA....

We hope to have informed you well...

good weekend

ENJOY !

Sincerely Yours,
HollandOnline

Hi HollandOnline,

Perhaps you could message the buyer in question and ask them to add their comment here also?

EDIT: Thread locked as no reponse from OP since they started it. Issue is presumed resolved.

p.s - you have to be the most patient moderator i've ever come across, you always politely answer so many questions from noobs like myself.

Agreed 100%. Libertas seems like a really solid person.  8) Thanks for being patient with us.

Not at all, Aktion1314 - I genuinely do really enjoy having an opportunity to be this involved with Silk Road. As I've said before, this community isn't just a "drug forum"; it's a major stepping stone on the path to freedom, and to have the opportunity to be part of the team that makes that freedom possible is pretty mindblowing! :)

Shipping / Re: So I'm moving...need some advice
« on: May 19, 2013, 02:13 pm »
Consider that package burnt. I wouldn't bring any attention to the fact you have packages pending from there. Make a copy of the key and go back if you can. If not it might get RTS. More important why did you buy when you are moving?

So....do I finalize or extend the due date on marketplace?
I'm also not bringing attention to having incoming packages from there, I just set up mail forwarding to my new address.

I would recommend opening a dialogue with the vendor and explaining the situation to them. Take it to the resolution center, extend the time by 5 days (this happens automatically when you hit 'resolution', but you may want to extend a few more) and finalise if you are gone and it still hasn't arrived. It's not the vendors fault after all, and they presumably held up their end of the bargain.

I think there should be a locked sticky, which contains relevant info for each major continent/country. EU, AU, USA, UK,  CA, etc...

Postal/customs rules, buying bitcoins, etc.. these all vary slightly from place to place. Would be nice to have all that (basic) info in one easy to find thread.

That is a good idea, but the relevant information is scattered far and wide throughout the forums - it would be virtually impossible to gather it all up and cut it all down to present it in a similar format for each location. Perhaps as a community effort it could be done, but moderators and administrators certainly don't have the time to do it - which is a shame. :( But hey, there's a job for you if you're feeling up to the task, android465764E! ;) :P

Silk Road discussion / Re: Re: Support delays
« on: May 19, 2013, 01:41 pm »
Then perhaps the site admin should shorten the time from an order being marked "in transit" to the time the "resolve" button becomes available. At least for US domestic orders(which most of the scams have been), 10 days is a long time... no good vendor(even with delays) gets it to me in less than 5 days. If it's taking longer than that, clearly there's an issue.

Fest

I agree, Festivalia, but it takes time to complete an investigation - accounts are suspended whilst this takes place - and the potential for a situation to arise whereby a vendor is suspended, money is returned to buyers, but then the vendor is found not to have broken any rules and it was all a result of something out of their control (postal issues etc.), leaving them with no product and no money is simply too high, and that can't be allowed to occur. The decision to suspend a vendor's account is not taken lightly and for that decision to be made it requires the strongest indications that something that violates the terms of the Seller contract is indeed occurring.

The majority of these scams - virtually all of them, in fact - would be prevented if buyers took Silk Road's advice and did not Finalise Early. This would most certainly lead to decreased investigation times, and thus the possibility of being able to release buyer funds back to them much sooner as the investigation would be completed in a much shorter time-frame.

I should point out, though, that I'm certainly not belittling the situation; it frustrates all of us when vendors scam buyers, but due-diligence and personal responsibility are needed to prevent these scams from being able to get off the ground in the first place. You're a huge asset here, helping to root out scammers, and I commend you for the time you put in to doing that, but we - as a community - cannot allow the decision to suspend a vendor account in a free-market economy to be made on a whim. If we do that, we abandon the principles of the free-market and in abandoning those principles we abandon any hope of securing personal freedom, losing it to the venomous claws of market regulation.

ah man.. I could really use a new phone.. besides, getting the phone at half the retail price and selling it for a tad more could also end up potentially being a nice little business...

Be very careful with this - the desire to make a quick buck has been the downfall of many a man before, and it will continue to be the downfall of many a man in the future. It happens all the time with FE'ing on Silk Road, for instance; "30% extra if I FE, I can make a shitload of money on that, awesome!" has led to more people being ripped off than I can even stomach counting. Beware in-built, insidious human greed - it is very much a part of our collective nature, but it must be controlled in order to reduce risk.

"Think with your head, not with your heart" as they say!

yeah fair enough, i understand how it could break up the forum too much.

We were all new here once, pure Milo. :) The Silk Road community is quite unlike any other, and it deserves a different approach from moderators and senior community members than would be expected elsewhere. We're all contributing to the fight for personal freedom by sharing ideas and subverting our government's economies by buying on the black market, so we're essentially all brothers and sisters in arms - as a result, we need to support each other! :)

I greatly appreciate the kind words, by the way; it's really great to hear it when people notice those kinds of things. Thanks! :D
