Hi folks,

You should definitely be using TAILS, and can find an excellent setup guide here:

http://dkn255hz262ypmii.onion/index.php?topic=114141.0

It only takes a few minutes to set up and the security benefits of running TAILS over the regular Tor Browser through Windows are unquantifiable!

already reported. anyone know if SR will reimburse the 4% hedging fee? infinitesource canceled my order about 5 mins after i placed it, and is unresponsive to messages.

Silk Road does not reimburse the ~4% hedging fee under any circumstances, sorry streetmodo.

I got this in my inbox today and thought it was a scam right away. And I hope anyone who gets this doesnt get fooled. But I am worried about this how did they get my account name on SR? It is not this name and pretty random so how did they get it. Was info lost from SR during attacks? Or was it a seller who got compromised? Should I or anyone be worried about? If info was lost from SR or seller should we start over with new accounts?

Just wondering I am surprised no one has brought this up

Not sure if I can answer most of the above, but I can tell you that no information was lost from Silk Road during the attacks. They were DoS attacks, not attempts at cracking SR security.

Vendor Support vs SR Support. Yes I need to keep that straight. Not sure which one is at the bottom of my account page "Support". But dont bother to tell me. I will pay attention to that detail soon and know, lol. That support was way behind schedule so I was not planning to say anything to them 'till they had caught up.

Thanks Vivid for the sad-experience report. Sorry for your loss. Please let us know if you end up getting the cash.

I'll clarify regardless :)

Hit the 'report this vendor' link on their vendor profile and explain what's happened in the box provided - as scout said though, BTC exchanges are are not recommended here so there's not much that can be done other than reporting the vendor using the link provided, and perhaps also messaging Vendor Support from your main vendor account to add some credence to your side of the story.

i'm having issues with infinitesource too. my story for anyone interested: http://dkn255hz262ypmii.onion/index.php?topic=162101.0

A lot of people seem to be having issues with this particular vendor. As stated above, please use the 'report this vendor' button on their vendor page.

Help I literally just clicked finalize on an order from cali meds, He has been banned for multiple days, Is there anything that can be done.... like where would my coins go his account is manned. I literally had 2 orders in my orders folder and I clicked the wrong one by mistake and literally clicked stop the moment I did. On the screen it showed 2 orders still i then refreshed it and that order was gone =(

is there anythign that can be done. I reported him and have multiple messages explaining how i would never finalize. This is truly a very dabbed out mistake i just made.
Is there anything that can be done

Please let me know thanks so much

Hi yourdadsdad,

Please contact SR Support on the main site letting them know what has happened, and include the transaction ID of the order in question; as far as I am aware, they should be able to return your money in this instance as it is not finalised to the ex-vendors account.

However, please be aware that Silk Road can NOT return funds that have been finalised to vendors when they are still active. I know how easy it can be to finalise the wrong order, but please be more careful in future.

Thread locked as instruction given.

Silk Road discussion / Re: Support delays
« on: May 22, 2013, 05:45 am »
Cheers as always to the SR staff!! Keep it up!

Must say the process for banning/suspending a vendor should be updated to also cancel/refund all the open orders. When a vendor is banned for scamming and customer has an open order marked 'in-transit' and they are banned, customer must message SR support requesting the cancel which takes time (days) and puts more strain on support.

Hi flwrchlds9,

You can read more about the reasons why all open orders cannot be cancelled / refunded immediately when a vendor is initially suspended here:

Customer support / Re: questions about a resend/refund
« on: May 22, 2013, 05:42 am »
Thanks for the quick reply.

Quote
If the buyer refuses to do a resend unless you FE, and you choose to do that, Silk Road will not be able to protect you as the resend will not be held in escrow due to the fact that it won't be a paid order going through the Silk Road system.

I was a bit worried about that part what to do, when/if he would ask for a FE. I couldn't get a clear answer from the wiki. I knew that I normally don't have to FE, but I thought there where exceptions.

Anyway, so if I get it right, when I ask for a resend it's all or nothing. And when I ask for a refund we'll split the costs (that's what the vendor offers me atm).
But when I get a refund it will end up on my purchasing stats, and with less then 10 successful transactions my refund rate will jump to 20% or so (I think). I would be nice if I could calculate this so I know what it will be.

The problem is that I don't trust his/her stealth package and the best option would be to ask for a refund. But with a possibly 20% refund rate in my stats it could get me into trouble with other vendors, so maybe I should take the risk and ask for a resend. I maybe end up with nothing but my stats stay clean for the future.

Pfff, the lesson I've learned is that I don't pick up any new vendors for my orders for a while. I see now that testing the waters is a risky venture.

Yes, with a resend it's all or nothing and you are trusting that the vendor will indeed send the item. When you ask for a refund you will receive either a partial or full refund depending on the administrator's decision in the matter. It will end up on your purchasing stats, and though I have no information on the exact method of how it is calculated, you can read more on it here:

http://dkn255hz262ypmii.onion/wiki/index.php?title=Frequently_Asked_Questions#Why_are_my_stats_incorrect.3F

Please note that as the above is 'weighted' toward the present and the size of your recent transactions - recent refunds count for more than refunds from long ago and the size of your purchases will affect the rate - so your refund rate may look quite different than the 20% you expect.

If you do not trust the vendor's stealth then I imagine it would be better to ask for a refund; you can message other vendors to explain the reason for your refund rate before placing orders with them.

EDIT: Thread locked as resolved.

Technical support / Re: Lost password after changing it
« on: May 22, 2013, 05:32 am »
Thanks.
I'll just wait now...

Why bitcoin address that has received money?
I accidentally sent address that is (probably) current but has not received any money, then i sent another, and another.... :D

How long it usually takes to get account back if ever?

Hi NorthState,

I'm not entirely sure if I understand your question, but if you're asking if multiple Bitcoin transactions that you sent to an SR address that you had not used before will be received, the answer is yes. :) However, if they are not, simply send a message to SR Support over on the main site and they will be able to help you.

It will take a few days for Support to get around to seeing your message due to the current Support backlog, which you can read about here:

Searching that forum did not get any hits for me. I may be doing it wrong as it seems like it should have. I tried "WeBuyBitcoins" and the web address.

And, ya, I think there was a link to a requesting access page. I answered the questions asked (such as why do you want access) and submitted. Have not messages to ask Support why I have not heard back from them yet, though.

If you found no mention of them on bitcointalk.org that most likely means that nobody has used them yet. As a result, I would stay well away from them.

Perhaps send Vendor Support another message on the main site inquiring as to the status of your request. Please note you need to message Vendor Support, not SR Support.

Newbie discussion / Re: Newbie here, just saying Hi
« on: May 21, 2013, 11:43 pm »
Hello everybody!

seems to be a great place here ))

I am not very good in computers' programs but I hope I'll manage to learn how to use FE, PGP and escrow.
I have been reading about those 3 things but honestly did not get a slightest idea what they all mean.....

somebody has a hint where to find all this info about them?

hello blackya

FE means to finalize early. the term finalize is used when talking about finalizing a transaction on SR. you place an order, seller ships order, you receive order and then finalize it releasing your funds from escrow to the seller. when you FE, your releasing the funds early, before the seller ships. this is done for many reasons but not recommended by SR.

escrow is any third party that holds money for 2 sides making a transaction. in this case its SR. its used to protect buyers from getting ripped off.

pgp/gpg is a form of encryption for text and files. on SR its used to send sensitive information from buyer to sender, usually shipping addresses.

its very important you read the silkroad wiki, its fully of information that will make the process easier to understand.
i dont have the link of hand but it i find it i will update. if you hunt around or ask i'm sure it wont be hard to track down.

Very good post, RobLoblaw! +1 :)
However, regarding FE, we recommend that buyers never, ever FE for any vendor, for any reason.

Newbie discussion / Re: shipping delays?
« on: May 21, 2013, 11:35 pm »
It's been 8 business days.  I usually got the order from the vendor in 3-4.

Anything to be concerned about?  I contacted him and he doesn't do tracking.  But very reptuable vendor and gets feedback daily saying great shipping time.

Should I wait this out before ordering from another vendor?

Hi sanco,

Please see the SR Wiki here:

My order hasn't arrived or it's not what I expected.

If your order hasn't come after waiting 10 days, you should click "resolve" next to it on your orders page. This will put the order into resolution. Read all of the instructions in the Resolution Center, and try to come to an agreeable resolution with your vendor.

I'm not going to name the seller this early on, or report them or anything as I'd rather give them a chance to sort things out, but can anyone make any sense of this???

Conversation in chronological order, irrelevant bits shortened, apoligies for the length!

Vendor to Buyer (16 Days)
Due to the volatility of SR going up and down, up and down, I am asking everyone to please FE for the time being. For your order you will receive XXXXX bonus for FE.....................

(16 Days)
Hi, thanks for your message. I understand your concern re the volatility of SR! I'm happy to either.....
Keep the order current and in escrow, or
Ask you to cancel it and I'll FE on a smaller order with you

Vendor to Buyer (16 Days)
OK, no problem, no offense taken at all mate. Thanks for letting me know that! I do appreciate your message. Please understand that you do not HAVE to FE. I am not requiring you to do so, at all. You will receive your order regardless. I was just trying to avoid any delay in the receiving of the payment due to the site being sometimes hard to get on. For that I was going to give you an extra 20% more for you doing so.
Your particular order will stay in escrow for the duration. You will receive your order regardless. I understand that I am a new vendor on SR but I would not open an expensive account, only to cut myself short by my reputation and by my money, a few weeks later. I plan on staying for the duration. As long as the site lasts for that matter.

Buyer  to Vendor  (16 days)
Thanks mate, I look forward to seeing the postman, and all being well you can expect another order soon after. Welcome to SR, and good luck - I look forward to doing business with you!

Buyer  to Vendor (1 day)
Hi, just letting you know this one has not arrived yet

Vendor to Buyer (1 Days)
Your order was sent on Saturday. Should be getting very early part of next week. And again these delays wont happen in the future. If it weren't for customs, I wouldn't have lost so much damn time.    1 day

Vendor to Buyer (1 Days)
Could you please send me your address using Privnote? I am having trouble importing public keys through the command prompt at the moment. I appreciate it.

Vendor to Buyer (5 hours)
I am cancelling your order. I needed the address. I am sorry I couldn't make your order as fast as I would liked to. :( I like my orders fast and reliable just as everyone else. This may sound stupid, but I do have a new shipment in at the moment. If you order again, I will make sure that you get it in time. i.e. The very next day. But I would need your address. You can send it to me via Privnote. I cannot import PGP keys at the moment. Sorry.

Vendor to Buyer (5 hours)
Your order finally went out on Monday via First class mail. You should be getting it today or tomorrow. Your order went out yesterday. Please have a small amount of patience with me. Things are finally where they should be.

Vendor to Buyer (5 hours)
PLEASE SEND ME YOUR ADDRESS..........

Buyer  to Vendor (1 minute)
My order was to XXXXXXX I must ask, if the order was sent out already, why do you need the address again?
Sorry mate, I don't mean to be difficult, but you gotta understand my position too

Not entirely sure what to make of all that - whether it's an attempted scam (looking likely) or just a completely inept vendor. I presume all of this is happening in the resolution center, yes?
