Rumor mill / Re: La Fuente -- disappeared?
« on: May 26, 2013, 04:48 am »

On Sunday i put an order with La Fuente and I have not heard anything from him. I now have the option to cancel my order. It says he was last seen 3 days ago but all of listing was removed about 12 hours ago, what does this mean?

Has any one heard from him since Sunday?
Will canceling my order negatively affect my buying stats?
Is this normal behavior for this vendor?

When a vendor has not logged in to their account for 72 hours their listings get pulled automatically.

Cancelling your order will not affect your buying stats at all. Please be aware that the refund you will receive will be Bitcoin at the USD value that it was when you placed the order, not at the USD value it is now. The refund you receive will also be ~4% less than what you paid due to hedging fee that is charged on every hedged order. Orders are hedged in USD, not in Bitcoin.

For example, if BTC were worth $100 when you placed the order and the item cost ฿1.00, then you would receive back ฿0.7296 as BTC are now valued at $130.91 (this calculation includes the ~4% hedging fee).

Hey peeps, haven't been around in a while, and was just wondering if the main site address had been changed during all this madness. I haven't been able to get the main site to load using the normal address in a few days. Feel free to pm me if necessary. Thanks!

The address is:

Customer support / Re: Resolution question ..
« on: May 25, 2013, 08:50 pm »
If a resolution case gets to the point of admin intervention, are they (admin) able to view the messages sent back and forth between vendor and buyer?
Or do I need to paste these conversations into the resolve case?

Yes, the administrator is able to view the messaging history of the vendor and buyer if there is an issue for which those messages are necessary to be read - no need to paste the conversations into the resolution center. :)

Customer support / Re: Bitcoin Address / SR Acct
« on: May 25, 2013, 08:07 pm »
Hey!

I accidentally clicked "get new bitcoin address" and I have a brand new one now.

I also have a transaction in the resolution centre and the vendor hasn't replied or even logged into their account in 10 days. The resolution comes in within the next 2 days.

If it requires a refund, will it be refunded to my NEW bitcoin address? The transaction won't just revert to the old one? If it did, would the bitcoins be stuck somewhere?

Thanks

ER

Hi eleanorrobot,

All refunds are applied directly to your Silk Road account (username) - they are not sent to a Bitcoin address, they are simply 'moved' internally. It utilises the same process as the "Send bitcoins to another member" feature.

In cases where you are transferring Bitcoin to you Silk Road deposit address from an external wallet system it is advisable to keep the same address until your Bitcoin has arrived. However, all addresses that you have used previously are unique to your account. If you ever have a problem and your Bitcoin don't arrive after 24 hours, get in touch with SR Support (the bottom right hand corner of your page) and they'll be able to manually push them through for you.

Customer support / Re: Getting a refund process
« on: May 25, 2013, 07:41 pm »
So I won't name any names just yet. I never wanted to go through this process like anyone else. I have been dealing with a vendor for over a month now, with a few things in resolution center. I know it is a sellers market, I need to know exactly what I need to equip myself with in going to SR staff about getting this resolved. I have asked if their is tracking, and have been told they do not use it with their packages. I have been told to wait 5 more days, then 6 more days, and I think it's obvious it is not coming. It was my first international order, and I understand it's the name of the game. They have been giving out 50% refunds, but should I go for more, or just cut my losses? After weeks of talking, I am all of a sudden told I had a reship. I was told it reshipped 3 days after my initial marked in transit order, which makes no sense to me. All comments welcome, and constructive criticism. I have watched rating go from 99 and just plummet from the time I ordered with confidence. Thank you PS: I have no idea how to contact SR about this matter, that process would also be very helpful thank you.

Hi TrailerParkHero,

I presume you're doing all of this in the resolution center, yes?

Newbie discussion / Re: SMS conf code
« on: May 25, 2013, 07:17 am »
You will need a vendor account to sell ANY good or service here, and that includes 0.05 BTC for the use of someone's number.

Go buy a burner phone and use that to receive your confirmation SMS.

Thread locked because of the security risk this poses to anyone who actually considers using their own phone for this - nobody knows what it is for, and it has the potential to get them into a lot of trouble.

Silk Road discussion / Re: Captchas on SR.

Oh I'm not complaining. I was just adding my experience that it's no big deal to others so they don't get worried lol.

Sorry if I came across a little blunt, just wanted to clarify that it's a separate issue! :)

The 3 number captcha has been happening since like a year ago.  There was a phase when people and I would constantly get logged off automatically and the 3 number captcha would come out a few times till the working one came out.

Actually I've been getting logged off recently for first time in a long time this past month.

I'm aware of that, but that issue was resolved. The current 3 digit captcha issue is a result of site hardening measures.

right right. That's what I do. But why? Is it a bug? I have a healthy amount of paranoia so I do just that.

Just curious as to why this happens, and what would happen if I just typed in the 3 numbers and proceeded.  :D

Yes, it's just a bug. It was caused by the recent site hardening and will be eliminated when what's causing it is found, but it's not a security vulnerability so it's not a priority. If you type in the 3 numbers nothing will happen, you'll just get a "failed login" message.

Shipping / Re: list of vendors with the best stealth
« on: May 25, 2013, 12:50 am »
Jesus Fucking Christ NO.

A list of vendors with excellent sealing materials? Awesome. A list of vendors with the best (ie: probably disguised, not simply nondescript) stealth? No fucking way. It takes ONE order from ONE cop to discover the packaging of any vendor on the site. Again, not a big deal if it's simply plain wrapping, but something distinctive but deceptive? Why paint a target on the best dealers like that?

Please don't do this.

I completely agree with oldtoby. Feel free to list vendors with excellent sealing materials, but do not discuss the vendors with the best stealth - it puts vendors and their shipping methods at risk.

This is a free forum and you may discuss any topic you see fit to discuss, but if it describes shipping methods in any way that can threaten the security of vendor's packages it will be locked and the offending posts will be edited.

Which vendors have the best stealth is a purely subjective matter, but I would strongly advise against posting such opinions in order to protect the security of the vendors in question.

Also message me if you would like bulk orders because they can be arranged but will not be offered for awhile unless you contact me directly.

Do not ask potential buyers to contact you directly for any reason. If you do not have a vendor account, you are not permitted to ask potential buyers to contact you privately at all. If you wish to sell bulk, do so when you purchase a vendor account.

If you want to verify a forum backup URL you can find the list of URLs PGP signed by DPR at:

Just in case the dkn255hz262ypmii.onion address isn't working for some, here's that post:

Hey everyone,

Not long ago, the attacker took down these forums as well as the main site, cutting off all communication between us.  If this happens again, we need a way to stay connected.  Listed below are backup .onion URLs that we will try to host the forum at if it is unreachable from the usual url (dkn255hz262ypmii.onion).  Consider these official Silk Road URLs from now on.

If you cannot connect via these URLs as well, we'll use reddit.com/r/silkroad as a last resort.  Please spread this message far and wide so as many people that want to stay connected as we go through this dark time are able to.

Yours always,
DPR

Can't seem to access mainsite tried getting new identity etc still not working

Ensure you have the latest update to the Tor Browser Bundle installed. If you already do, shut down Tor completely and restart it.
