Hi backflip,

The 3 character captcha issue is occurring as a result of the recent site hardening efforts and it is not a security risk so the cause of it is not being hunted down as a priority. If you try to log in with the short captcha you'll just get a 'login failed' error, but just refresh the page until a full length captcha becomes available. :)

I'm just going to post my responses here if that's alright, Immortally? It's better for others who might be having a similar problem in the future to be able to see the solution:

You have to download the portable version and install it on a USB stick - not download the regular version. I presume you're using Windows?
You can get the portable version here in the "Windows" category; click on "Portable version":
http://electrum.org/download.html

Download it and copy/paste it to a USB stick, then run the portable .exe file.
You need to follow the instructions that pop up exactly, and copy the Wallet generation seed into a notepad file so you don't lose access to it. Copy & Paste the Wallet generation seed in where it tells you to re-enter it and follow the instructions on-screen and you should be good to go. As long as you install it on a USB stick you can run the portable version and the normal version at the same time.

Where would I see that capability?  I've been over the 100 for the several days and I don't see where the Karma option is available?

There should be a [thank] and [discourage] button underneath a poster's name or avatar.
[thank] awards positive karma and [discourage] awards negative karma. You are limited to giving karma to a each person once every 72 hours, but if you award bad karma you can change it to good karma and vice-versa within that 72 hour period.

That's one of the risks you take when you send with zero fees, I'm afraid. PM me the address you were sending to and I'll see if I can see what's happening in the meantime, then try the portable Electrum client.

Hi Immortally,

I'm not aware of any issues with the Silk Road system wallet at the moment so this is almost certainly a problem with your Electrum client. If possible, please download a portable version of Electrum (which you can get from their website) and install it onto a USB stick. Try sending a small amount of Bitcoin to that from your desktop based Electrum client (be sure to include the minimum transaction fee) and let me know if the transaction completes successfully.

I think the issue may be that you're not paying the transaction fee. Bitcoin transactions that do not pay a transaction fee can, depending on their size (in kb), sometimes take a very long time to process - occasionally taking weeks. The transaction fee is paid to the miners and they prioritise transactions with a fee in them.

If the Bitcoin has indeed been sent from your Electrum wallet then you cannot 'pull it back' - Bitcoin transactions are irreversible by design. Feel free to PM me the address you were sending them to and I'll take a look on blockchain.info to see if I can figure out what's happened.

Well I wasn't accusing mods. Razospyne's accusations on ssbd were believable though, until I saw that other people got -14 as well and didn't argue with mods. I guess it's a major troll then, but why would someone put so much effort into negging people? Weird.

Oh I wasn't implying that at all, tree, I was just stating that we're all getting it too.

No idea why someone would want to do this (perhaps it's even to cause a rift, like it seems to have succeeded in doing for some outrageous reason), but none of us have any way to know who it is so accusations can only be presented as pure speculation. It couldn't actually be a moderator seeing as we're all getting it and you can't give yourself karma so the only other possibility is that it's somebody else / a group doing it to see how much of a ruckus they can cause. Outrageous that people are falling for it though on a revolutionary forum such as this given that they're just anonymous internet points but what can ya do! :o
