Ok, so let me ask this...Does me increasing how much the fee is, increase the speed it transfers?  I believe the fee i usually have set is .0005?  If i increase it to .001 would that increase the transfer time?

Technically speaking, yes. Realistically though, any transaction has to be included in a newly mined block in order for it to actually "go through" (or be recognised as valid by any Bitcoin wallet), so it won't increase the confirmation time. It will increase the speed at which miners process it though, yes. As long as you pay the recommended fee, however, there will be no problem.

Personally, I always include a fee of double what the recommended fee is, and/or make it at least 2 - 3% of the overall amount I'm sending, mainly just to give back to the miners that make all of this possible but also to ensure my transaction is seen to ahead of other transactions that pay lower fees.

Having problems transfering from Electrum as well.  Has been pending for the last 2 hours with 0 confirmations.  Never had this problem before.

Update....It now has 1 confirmation, lol.  Guess time is the factor in my position.

Make sure you include a fee for your transfers, Boostedh, even if you have not done so before. It helps keep the Bitcoin network alive by giving back to the miners and it ensures that your transfer won't get added to the pile of queued unconfirmed transfers (which are only included in a block if there are no more transfers with transactions fees, as blocks can only be a certain size and transfers with appropriate fees are processed first).

EDIT: You can see an example of a queued, unconfirmed transaction here:

The "Estimated Confirmation Time" section explains more.

I just got $500 sent from bitinstant to my SR Address, but then after I set up all the shit and paid, I accidentally clicked on "get a new address" before my funds arrived. Now they still have arrived and I'm basically shitting myself that I lost all my money.

Am I fucked?

Hi CannabisCrusader,

Your deposit should arrive just fine as all addresses are unique to your account.

Please see the SR Wiki here:
http://dkn255hz262ypmii.onion/wiki/index.php?title=Frequently_Asked_Questions#Why_isn.27t_my_deposit_showing_up_in_my_account.3F

Why isn't my deposit showing up in my account?

It can take up to 6 hours for a deposit to be confirmed on the blockchain, processed, and credited to your Silk Road account. If your deposit still hasn't shown up, first check that it is showing up on the blockchain by searching for your deposit address on a site like blockchain.info. If your transfer doesn't appear here, then it was never sent and you need to find out why from the person or organization who initiated the transfer. If the transfer does appear, then there could be a problem on our end and you should contact us.

If your deposit does not arrive within 24 hours, contact SR Support and they will push your Bitcoin through manually for you.

Customer support / Re: [SOLVED] Finalized wrong order
« on: June 04, 2013, 01:40 am »
Man there really needs to be a verify or are you sure screen/button  for this sort of thing!!!! i dont understand why there isnt for such an important link

Hi Hendrix99,

Customer Support threads are not for discussion; please raise your point in one of the main forums, and perhaps consider directing people to your thread in Feature Requests. I will be creating a list of the most popular feature requests at the end of each month and sending them up the chain for consideration.

fuk all
How about addressing vendors keeping addresses and threatening buyer on the Silk road with the POLICE

 fancy helping me ?

Your response of "fuk all" to "What are you trying to get at here?" is ridiculous because you're clearly trying to get at something. ??? Why post anything otherwise? ???

As far as "addressing vendors keeping addresses and threatening buyer on the Silk road with the POLICE", you have been told before that this is something that you will have to bring up with SR Support who can then launch an investigation into it if your claims can be verified as being true. We, as forum moderators, do not have access to the administrative sections of the main site. You have been made aware of this before.

Perhaps instead of being condescending towards me for absolutely no reason you could lay out the problem in a message to SR Support - along with the evidence of what you say has happened - in a clear fashion so as they will be able to decipher it, and perhaps they will be able to help you with the issue that you are having.

And the 'other' thing is his 'allegations' of being 'connected' to SR high command! Again, yeah right!  BUT if we were SR admin we would be pretty pissed off with such slander (if that's what ir is) and would ban him a) coz he's obviously scamming people b) becoz we could shut this fools dangerous lies and hopefully save a few of the more naive peeps who actually believe this dude!

We cannot and would not silence someone simply because we might be "pissed off" with what they are saying! :o

a) There is no evidence of scamming.
b) You cannot silence someone because you disagree with them.

If they are scamming people, and those people report it and an investigation concludes that the claims are valid then the vendor will lose their vending privileges.

You state yourself that you have never even bought anything from this person, but received a copy of something they are selling second-hand. Vendors are free to sell anything that they wish as long as it does not fall under anything in the very small "restricted items" list - the vendor in question is selling guides, and members that buy it seem happy.

I just had a look and there is NO bad feedback on any of the guides on offer spanning the last 4 months, meaning that nobody - including the person you say sent you the guide - had reason to complain about it.

Feel free to delete the threads  at anytime Mods ..

You are fully aware that we do NOT delete threads, and I have explained the process to you for erasing your own posts and editing thread-starter posts if needs-be. If you wish to delete your own posts, you may do so. The posts of others, however, will not be interfered with.

Libertas
Really !   So thats why it says .. after I try  too

"You are not allowed to delete the first post in a topic.

If you want to delete this topic, click on the Remove Topic link, or ask a moderator/administrator to do it for you."

so guess what
went ahead and asked a  mod like it says  ;)       it seems the admin / mod  cant delete the threads anymore?  obviously you didnt know Sorry
so  telling me
that new?       &  wanna see the pms  I sent mods asking ???      :(

now what about this thread...
back on track I dont really give a shit got nothing to hide  ;D

Yes, it does - that is the message built in to the SMF forum software. I explained to you when you messaged me after trying to delete something that we do not delete threads - and explained how you can edit thread-starter posts because they can't be deleted - so your point that you "went ahead and asked a mod like it says" comes across as ridiculous given that I had already stated that we do not do it.

"it seems the admin / mod  cant delete the threads anymore?  obviously you didnt know Sorry" - I have absolutely no idea what this is supposed to mean so can not address it. I am a moderator, and I told you that we can not delete threads anymore, meaning I did indeed know. What are you trying to get at here??

Thanks for the response Libertas.

I can confirm that I didn't enter my PIN at login, my password is at least 10+ characters, and my PIN code was 4. These codes were not changed between me finding the money missing and when I created the account. I did not enter my pin at login at any stage. The only time I reentered my PIN was to confirm that I knew it before making the deposit - I did this by updating my settings.

I can also confirm there are no rootkits on my computer (or that it is extremely unlikely- all binaries on my linux machine are md5 checked).

The thing that is most suspicious is that there is no destination for where the funds went. Could someone please look into that further for me?

Regards,
[REDACTED]

Please check your system for keyloggers and dataloggers - there are a few well known loggers that target Linux specifically.

The PIN does not have to numeric, nor short - in fact, the longer and more convoluted it is, the better. When you make a withdrawal, the address that the Bitcoin were withdrawn to is not shown for security purposes.

Please check any BTC receiving addresses that you use to see if you may have withdrawn them. That may not seem likely, but possibilities need to be eliminated in order to draw the most likely conclusion.

You will have to open up a Support ticket on the main site if you want this looked into further; we have no access to the administrative sections of the site so can be of no more help from here.

You can reach SR Support by clicking the 'support' link in the bottom right corner of any page on the main site. You may be waiting up to 48 hours for a response depending on how busy they are so please include as much information as possible in your initial message.

Please refrain from signing anything here with your real name - the less you link to your real identity the better.

joolz, I have had to remove both a vendor's packaging technique and the location that the package was sent to - please refrain from posting such information in future.

Bug reports / Re: Login Problems
« on: June 04, 2013, 12:13 am »
Anyone here, who can tell me how long it will take, to get reply by support on my current issue?

I'm just wondering, if I will see my BTC in my account again, or if my account really is hacked, the hacker got enough time to figure out my PIN :-(

You might be waiting up to 48 hours for a reply from SR Support - this period can be shorter or longer depending on how many messages are ahead of yours in the support queue.

It is impossible that your account got "hacked", but if you were using a simple password then it is highly unlikely though technically possible that somebody has managed to brute-force your password. If they managed to do this and you used a simple PIN, it is again highly unlikely though technically possible that they could brute-force that as well. Keep in mind that brute-forcing a relatively simple password could take hundreds of years, so a successful brute-force attack on your passphrase AND your PIN would be incredibly unlikely.

The most likely scenario - though I know you swear it impossible - is that you entered your details into a phishing site. There are some phishing sites that ask for your login details and use them to log you in to the main site (to make you think nothing is wrong) before withdrawing your BTC.

In short, there is no way for us to know if your Bitcoin remains in your account or not. You will have to wait until Support get back to you and you regain access to your account.

In the meantime, please read the Silk Road Wiki, specifically the 'Trust & phishing' entry:

Bug reports / Re: Login Problems
« on: June 03, 2013, 11:45 pm »
hey, for some reason i have an intermittent connection, ever since the last attack!   Every once in a while, i will get kicked off and have to relogin...   I am not sure what that is but i have also heard other people on the forums mentioning this as well.

This has been occurring on and off. It's not a security risk so it's nothing to worry about - a little irritating at times is all. Rest assured it's being worked on. :)
