Newbie discussion / Re: Let'a talk about Stealth Mailing...

Wow. Thats actually very beneficial. Damn theres actually decent mods. Libertas have people posted very detailed stuff on here that you guys have had to remove?  Maybe a jackass  just trying to compromise everyones safety?

People are generally careful enough not to reveal things that will completely compromise their security, which is all I'll say on that.

But wouldn't of made more sense to delete the quote or the thread?

As goldenrod stated, it is left in place a) so as others viewing the thread know what sort of things really shouldn't be discussed on a public forum like this for security reasons and b) so as the the person knows that this information was in the public domain the second it was posted and leaving it up will hopefully prevent them from using that method at any time in the future.

We do not delete threads here in order to ensure that freedom of speech is preserved, and I very, very rarely edit anything I've quoted unless there is a pressing need for me to do so.

Well isnt that mod making such a huge difference policing the board but about as effective as Officer Barbrady haha. A for effort but causes another problem with his solution.

I've caused a problem with my solution? ??? Please do elaborate - if you see an issue I will try to clarify the reasoning behind it.

Silk Road recommends that you do not use Bitcoin exchangers that operate on Silk Road - please see the following entries on the SR Wiki:

Please note that, while there are many vendors offering to sell Bitcoins directly from this site, we are not set up to facilitate this and it is very easy to get scammed this way. Until we are set up for it, we recommend you get Bitcoins from a third-party exchange. If you do get scammed we will have no way to help you.

I need help with a bitcoin transaction from a Silk Road vendor.

Unfortunately we do not offer support for these kinds of transactions because we cannot hold your payment in escrow. If there is an issue, you'll have to work it out directly with your vendor.

O kay, I did read this but thought there must be some Vendors that are trusted and used by others?  I do apologize if I did anything wrong by posting this.    :-[

Oh no you didn't do anything wrong, not at all! I just wanted to point out that we recommend you get your Bitcoin off-site because we can't protect you due to how BTC purchases take place when buying from a Silk Road vendor (requiring you to send your Bitcoin to the vendor before they send anything to you).

Yo Libby, I'm gonna slide a couple ones in your G strang. ;D

She got a donk! She got a donk!

I can assure you, Jack N Hoff, you would be in for quite the unpleasant surprise...

Are there even mods on the boards? I looked on the member list and theres 3 admins and everyone else seems to be regular members.

Yes, we are here and we do generally keep a good eye on the place to make sure those spammers don't get a foothold.

Regarding how they can post so much, I believe they are most likely using bots and captcha solving software to launch their spam walls every hour or two, sometimes more often. Their tactics do seem to vary though, so there is definitely some manual input on it. Either way, they're gone now and they'll be gone when they come back again. ;)

Libertas

Thanks for your dedication and hard work keeping this place clean. I understand that you cant prevent everything and even if you do patch it there will be more exploits popping up, I wonder if anyone is stupid enough to click on the links?

It's more a case of when we see it, we delete it. We're not always in the Newbie discussion forum but we do tend to spend quite a bit of time in here helping newer members out. The 50 post restriction generally keeps the spammers confined to the Newbie discussion forum and gives us a chance to get rid of them before they can disrupt discussion on the main forums.

Some people do follow the links, or at least they have done in the past - that's why they keep coming back, unfortunately.

I was trying to circumvent having the only meaningful post I could make, being made to the Newbie section, which would then be pushed out of view by the dozens of  "Spam to 50" posts taking place in there right now.  $500 should account for some credibility which is what you're hoping will be gained from 50 posts, but if you're going to allow "Spam to 50" posts in newbie then whats the point?

I have a reputation, fragile and under scrutiny right now, and I'd like to be able to defend myself.

Can I make a spam to 50 post or is this considered in bad taste?

Thanks for your help.

I understand your frustration, but the 50 post rule was not brought in to establish "credibility" or anything of the sort; it was brought in to keep the mass-spammers that attempt to direct people to their scam website confined to the Newbie discussion forum as much as possible so as discussion can take place in the main forums relatively unhindered.

We do not condone spamming, but if you feel it is necessary to post a "Spam to 50" thread, then do what you consider necessary.

Sorry that we can't lift the restriction - moderators have no power to do so in any event, and it would create a 'two-tier' system that goes against everything that Silk Road stands for.

Libertas

As this is clearly in breach of each of these thirteen rules, why have you allowed this material to remain up without not only removing it, but even contesting it?

Those "rules" are part of the standard registration text for these types of forums.  You also know very well that we are not permitted to edit or remove posts unless they are scams, spam, endanger someone, or involve CP.

Is that a fact? Why did you allow MB's "Can I Cum In Your Kids?" up for a significant time? This was very cleary CP related material.

Piece, Love, and Fuck Haters.

The moderating team will not be engaging either of you further in any attempt to stir up dust that has already settled. The simple fact of the matter is that moderators do not have to justify themselves to you regarding decisions that are made; this is a privately owned forum and we are answerable to DPR, and DPR alone - not to a member or two who bear grudges for whatever reason they believe they have to do so. That reason is neither here nor there, and we are all entitled to our feelings on the matter, members and moderators, both.

It would be a lot more productive for all concerned to let sleeping dogs lie and move on from this discussion, and get back to helping out the community that we are _all_ a part of. Though our views on things may differ - and nobody is forced to enjoy the company of anybody else - we are all on the same side here.

Please take those words into consideration... Arguing on the forums like this serves no purpose but to fracture the community we are all building and contributing to.

That will be the last comment I'll be making on this matter, but I sincerely request that all of us - myself included - take a few moments to see that a fractured community is weak and open to attack from its enemies, something that we are certainly not lacking. We don't need to make their job easier by making enemies of each other as well.

Thanks for that, astor - as always! :)

It is escrow (btc)  and 0 escrow (usd) , but there is a different order mixed in with it that is in transit to me now.

Then yes, your order is unhedged and you will receive back the exact amount of Bitcoin that you paid in. :)

Libertas

523
Well I can't find any info in the transaction order if it was hedged but if I put the item in my cart again it said unhedged. hopefully that is the case with my order.

About how long should it take for the bitcoin return back to my Sr account?

On your account page, is the escrow balance for the order in the 'escrow (usd)' column or the 'escrow (btc)' column?

Your Bitcoin will be refunded immediately if you cancel the order.

Hey There.

I am a new Vendor using the SR name MUSHBUD.  You can view my SR profile here:

http://silkroadvb5piz3r.onion/silkroad/user/8304d94b9f/10

There is a post located in Rumors posted here:

http://dkn255hz262ypmii.onion/index.php?topic=165850.0

I'd like to address the situation in that post, and let the people involved know that I am aware of the problem with some
of my earliest samples, and that I am offering them a new sample that I have personally tested, and I will do this at my own expense...

However,.

I don't seem to meet the requirements necessary to create a post and address the problem.

Are you able to help me by increasing my post count to what is required to make this post?

If not what must I do?

Thanks for your time.

_-MUSHBUD-_

Hi MUSHBUD,

I'm afraid you'll have to reach 50 posts like everybody else; it wouldn't be fair to have a two-tier system whereby those that can pay for a vendor account can skirt the 50 post restriction when those that cannot pay for a vendor account remain bound by it.

Libertas

525
After 4 days and if I cancel, will the bitcoin automatically go back to my SR account?

Yes, but if the order was hedged you will lose the ~4% hedging fee; please also note that if the order is hedged you will receive back the USD value of the product in Bitcoin at the time of the cancellation, not the exact amount of Bitcoin that you paid for it. If the order is unhedged, you will receive back exactly what you paid in in Bitcoin.
