Bug reports / Re: CANT POST ON FORUM
« on: June 06, 2013, 08:43 pm »
I am trying to post on a vender review page and I have no option to post. I tried on other pages, same problem. I've posted in the past so I know How to, just Can't.

In fact it was strange I was even able to start a thread in this section because I was unable to in others...

Please read the SR Wiki in full; the following entry applies in this case:

So I messaged a top 1% vendor about a custom $1000 order, and he told me to remind him to set up a custom listing the next day. I reminded him the next day, he saw the message but didn't reply. I reminded him again the day after that and then he replied "I think it's better you send the coins to my account and give me your address". He wanted me to just send the money directly to his account, isn't this shady as fuck? Which is very weird considering he's top 1%.

Very, very strange. And also completely against the rules:

NOTICE: If your seller instructs you to pay directly, outside of the escrow system, or with any other method than through the site checkout system, you should report it immediately to our support staff via the "report vendor" link along with any evidence you can provide. If you do pay your seller directly, there will be no way for us to protect you from fraud.

Feel free to PM the name of the vendor in question.

Bug reports / Re: Finalize Problem
« on: June 06, 2013, 06:03 pm »
Hi,

i've tried to finalize a bulkier order from vendor "Uhrwerk". After finalizing the screen jumped into Accountscreen with a red error warning under the first deposit line. In the Account history transaction is finalized but there is still no feedback for this transaction (a little suspect). At this time i don't know, whether the payment has arrived because i'm waiting for his reaction but it looks like everything is ok.

greetings,

Pacman

Hi Pacman85,

Can you try the process outlined below and let me know if it works?

Security / Re: How safe is storing BTC @ SR long-term?
« on: June 06, 2013, 05:48 pm »
I'm only comfortable with storing my coins in my own client, with multiple backups.

^This, 100%!

Nobody should be storing their Bitcoin on any web-based wallet, including Silk Road. It's like keeping them in a bank, except the bank has no physical representation and can abscond with your Bitcoin at any time and the people running the bank are completely untraceable. I'm not saying that will happen here, of course, but why take a risk when such a risk is so easily negated?

Hi boostintoHYPERSPACE1,

Please consider placing a link to your vendor account in your signature.

Libertas

Hello. Do you mind explaining how exactly I change my signature? I clicked around my profile and could not find anything that looked like it would be what I wanted.

Profile -> Modify Profile -> Forum Profile -> Signature -> 'Change Profile'.

Wadozo, I have edited out the "onion.to" link in your comment above. Please do not use onion.to to visit Silk Road or the forums; whoever is running that proxy has access to your login details if you enter them through onion.to.

Libertas just a note here, not having a go but it might be a good idea to ask a little bit more about the vendor before advising to take things to resolution, I mean I knew not to take it to reslution unless things got really bad but newbies listen to everything mods say and this would of caused problems if a buyer completely cut off comms from a vendor for a fairly small thing, just friendly advice try and get the whole picture first as completely cutting off comms to a vendor should only be in extreme cases in my opinion.

Sounds like I am having a go but really I am not. Thanks for everything folks.

Silk Road recommends that an order is placed into resolution if there is ANY issue with it - that is the only way we can protect you if something is / goes wrong; please see the SR Wiki here:

http://dkn255hz262ypmii.onion/wiki/index.php?title=Frequently_Asked_Questions#My_order_hasn.27t_arrived_or_it.27s_not_what_I_expected.

Quote
My order hasn't arrived or it's not what I expected.

If your order hasn't come after waiting 10 days, you should click "resolve" next to it on your orders page. This will put the order into resolution. Read all of the instructions in the Resolution Center, and try to come to an agreeable resolution with your vendor.

The instructions in the resolution center tell you to keep all communication about the resolution inside the resolution center so as an administrator has all the information available to them when making their decision.

Technical support / Re: [VENDOR] I can't upload a picture
« on: June 06, 2013, 05:14 pm »
So i'm trying to add a new listing, and I can't upload any pictures to it.  I keep getting this error:

Sorry, an error was encountered.

We could not process your request. (ext)

Halp!

Hi Litescape,

A number of vendors have stated that they are able to upload pictures by reducing the file size. You can find two examples of this in these posts:

Newbie discussion / Re: account deleted after 60 days??
« on: June 06, 2013, 05:10 pm »
It is either 30 or 60 days of inactivity. (without logging on) Your account will be deleted after that point. Just make a new one with the same name. Maybe it hasn't been taken yet

This is incorrect. An account will be archived after a number of months of inactivity (not one or two months) only if the account balance is zero.

Hey guys, I have a cocern about my account that maybe y'all vets can help me out with. I was away for the past 2 months and when I came back to silk road my account login won't work. Is there an account inactivity trigger? I tried searching this topic with no avail. Are all my bitcoins and buyer stats gone forever??!!! :-\

As stated by the previous poster, contact SR Support and tell them that you can't access your account. If you entered your login details (especially if it asked for your PIN) at any other URL other than silkroadvb5piz3r.onion then it is likely your account has been phished. If that is the case, please see the following entry on the SR Wiki:

http://dkn255hz262ypmii.onion/wiki/index.php?title=Frequently_Asked_Questions#I_forgot_my_passphrase.

Thinking of ordering the necessary supplies to start selling a candy flip package. The  package would include

2x 120mg 84% Purity MDMA in a capsule to be dosed twice during the duration of the trip
1x 150UG Gandolf tabs, or similar.
=$25 +shipping

Or, for the more hardcore among us.

2x 120mg 84% Purity MDMA in a capsule to be dosed twice during the duration of the trip
2x 150UG Gandolf tabs, or similar.
=$32 + shipping

Honest feedback is welcomed.

Thank you for the info!

May I suggest that SR post this type of info in FAQ.

You're very welcome! :) The info is contained in the Buyer's Guide here:
http://dkn255hz262ypmii.onion/wiki/index.php?title=Buyer%27s_Guide#Escrow_hedge

Quote
When checking out, you will see which orders will be hedged and which won't. After the order is placed, your escrow balance will reflect the dollar value of your hedged orders and the Bitcoin value of your unhedged orders. All hedged orders are hedged as soon as the order is placed. So when getting a refund for hedged items, don't be surprised if the number of Bitcoins you get back is not the same as the amount you paid.

Customer support / Re: checking url
« on: June 06, 2013, 04:52 pm »
hello, i was wondering if theres a way of checking whether the url i am using is ok or has been hacked or is just fake. is there a list of good urls of some sort?

Hi ardi,

The only URL that Silk Road currently runs on is:

silkroadvb5piz3r.onion

You need to memorise that, and a lot of people find splitting it up to be the easiest way of doing so:

silkroad
vb5
piz3r

Please remember that Silk Road will never ask you for your PIN, except for when you're on the Cart page buying something or withdrawing Bitcoin on your Account page.

I updated to the new tor browser and logged into SR not realising I shouldn't put in my PIN number to log in (thought it was just new security until I read forum)
Now I can't login to my account that I had bitcoin in.
Can anyone help or have I lost my coin ?
Thanks

If you entered your PIN then your Bitcoin is almost certainly gone. To reset your passphrase, please follow the instructions laid out in the following entry on the Silk Road Wiki (and I would advise you read all the other SR Wiki pages while you're there); once you've done that, reset your PIN.
