Silk Road discussion / Re: NONE of the Captcha are working
« on: June 15, 2013, 08:16 pm »
im having the same problem, and i need to answer few messages which is important, this could get us bad feedback from some pissed off customers when they see pm's being read and not replied

plz help out

Just as a temporary measure to read PM's you can use the 'bulk reply' feature; messages read using this do not get marked as read unless you check the 'mark as read' box.

To delete the messages more easily:

Right click the 'delete' button of the message you want to delete and click 'Open Link in New Tab'; do that for each message and you won't have to wait for the page to reload every time.

Alternatively you can just hold 'CTRL' and click the 'delete' button - that opens it up in a new tab without having to open the right-click context menu. Just close all the tabs once they've loaded and click 'messages' at the top of your page to refresh your inbox.

That is good advice. Sadly, often for me, if I am not on the new tab and moving my mouse, any new SR tab usually "times out" rather than loading. Trying to load multiple tabs in a hurry is usually ineffective. Maybe it is sending the delete command and so it works anyway. I'll look into that.

Edit: That was much, much faster when SR is working fast for me like it is at this time.

Glad it helped! :)

Yes, it is bad over there.

We could use checkboxes next to messages (or names) so we can delete (and/or ignore) more than one at a time. SR reloads toooo slow to delete all these messages one at a time.

Thanks for working on it as I am sure you are :-)

PS aka edit: Captch might not work long as I think they probably have an easier time overcoming that than regular buyers. Banning new accounts will only work if they dont have a bunch of unused accounts in reserve.

this seller must be stupid. Open this list:

http://silkroadvb5piz3r.onion/silkroad/item/b0e758a6da

what it says:

"We will be listing the full names and addresses of people that have ripped us off here - PLEASE WATCH THIS SPACE!"

what the fuck? list the full names and adresses of buyers? is this even legal ?

Report the seller please.

No, that absolutely is not permitted. I will make sure that the vendor is checked out.

Hey guys, I know it's incredibly annoying to be getting these PMs on the main site; rest assured we're exploring different options for stopping them.

Libertas

Like contemplating it?  Because it's really easy.  Implement a captcha for buyers, or a captcha for buyers that never spent an coins, or a captcha for buyers that spent less than $50. :o

Exploring different options...

I came up with several extremely viable options in less than a minute.  Why not IMPLEMENT one of these options that you guys have been exploring for a week? ::)

"Extremely viable" when one does not know how the Silk Road back end works; it's being worked on, Jack N Hoff.

To simplify my explanation as I really need an answer to this: If I put up a listing with a specific Bitcoin value which is pegged to a value on http://bitcoinexchangerate.org it will be true in that instant (obviously). However if the value of Bitcoin goes up or down even slightly the value becomes invalid when Silk Road updates its price as Silk Road does not currently synch to the same data used by bitcoinexchangerate. The site bitcoinexchangerate uses the same information as MtGoxLive, and MtGoxLive supposedly has the most accurate information according to Silk Road: http://dkn255hz262ypmii.onion/wiki/index.php?title=Seller%27s_Guide#Escrow_Hedging

Quote
If you need the most up-to-date USD/BTC exchange rate, we recommend mtgoxlive.com

I could see why no one has bothered with this question before as the synch is somewhat accurate, but all vendors currently stating they have pegged a product to a specific price are technically currently lying unless they've used some other site which has a perfect synch I'm not aware of yet.

Edit 2013-06-15: By chance I found a post by Libertas which explains the system a bit more in detail: http://dkn255hz262ypmii.onion/index.php?topic=171221.msg1225291#msg1225291 - however this also makes it clear it's very hard to find the exact value without access to a site which translates exactly those values at any given time.

Have a read through the post at the link below - it might give you a few ideas:

DPR is aware of the spam messages situation, and I'm sure he/she is working on it.

The member in question is referring to Bitcoin, which you both realise, I'm sure.

Jamesdavis33, please see the Security forum; there are many threads there that describe people's methods for obtaining Bitcoin.

You will never get a legit PM on the forums or the market site asking for your BTC, be that exclusive membership to SR2 the inner circle, to help DPR buy a new server (because they are short of money) or to help a mod out

All scams, all BS

ssbd
What is this "SR2The inner circle" you speak of? Is there another SR? I'm probably making you laugh with all the stupidity, but still...

As samesamebutdifferent stated, there is no "SR2", nor an "inner circle". The only URL you should ever be using is silkroadvb5piz3r.onion; any other URLs you receive in messages etc. are phishing sites that will lead to your account being compromised and your funds withdrawn.

Silk Road discussion / Re: What is the vendors fee?
« on: June 15, 2013, 06:41 am »
How much does it cost to be a vendor to sell the sensitive shit? I herd $500, but that seems fucking ridiculous.

Please read the following:

http://silkroadvb5piz3r.onion/silkroad/register_seller
http://dkn255hz262ypmii.onion/wiki/index.php?title=Seller%27s_Guide
http://dkn255hz262ypmii.onion/wiki/index.php?title=Frequently_Asked_Questions#Vendor_questions

The $500 (paid in BTC) is a bond which is fully refundable when the terms of said bond are met. That essentially means that a Silk Road vendor account is completely free.

Rumor mill / Re: Loyalist Trying to Force Me to FE
« on: June 14, 2013, 08:29 pm »
I have looked into this and the vendor in question does indeed have a FE policy, which he is entitled to have as he meets the requirements for it.

Quote
BUYING REQUIREMENTS
-------------------------------------

EVERYBODY UNDER 10 TRANSCACTION MUST FE.

FE FOR HIGH VALUE ORDERS

It is clear that the vendor considers this (and perhaps anything over $100) to be a high value order. Of course we advise against FE, but you agree to the terms set out on a vendor's profile when you place an order with them.

Please see the following section of the SR Wiki on what to do if you do not receive your item within 10 days of it being marked 'in transit':

« on: June 14, 2013, 03:44 am »
This is not a Silk Road product offer, and arms are not permitted for sale on Silk Road itself so it doubly doesn't belong here. All items offered for sale on the forums must be sold through a Silk Road vendor account. I would advise you to take that into consideration before advertising a restricted item for sale outside of the Silk Road ordering system.

Thread moved to the appropriate forum.
