Nothing to do with pgp? True.
A toy cipher? False, it is one of (if not the only, I am not sure) only unbreakable encryption algorithms in existence.

"toy" in the sense that's it's broken or stupid? no, i meant that it was something that you made up on the spot, which speaks to your skills

unbreakable? if you say so, i know very little about crypto

I did not make it up on the spot, it is called a OTP. It is provably unbreakable if properly implemented.

If memory serves, I believe it was Claude Shannon, the father of information theory, who proved that the one-time pad was secure from an information theory standpoint.

Guru

Yep :)

it is more a case of "why do I always feel like I have read your posts before?".

Mormons think he turned water into grape juice :)

This story, like the one about the mayor in Maryland getting raided and having his dogs shot, is just another in a long line of stories that illustrate how America is becoming a police state. Little by little, we're getting there. The most disturbing thing is how the law tends to side with the cops, almost without exception. You can find (very disturbing) YouTube videos of home raids -- people, children, pets getting shot -- the cops finding nothing, and nobody gets punished. I say "almost" because the Maryland mayor story is a rare exception. He sued and got restitution, but only because he was a well-known, well-respected member of the community. If you're an average citizen, you have no recourse. There is no presumption of innocense. The presumption is that LE did the right thing, even though we have innumerable examples where they didn't. Fuck LE.

What is a police state? Intelligence agencies monitor all of our electronic communications. Paramilitary troops storm our homes searching for substances that are banned solely for the profit of the prison industrial complex. We can't walk down the street without being stopped by police and harassed. Huge amounts of the fruits of your own labors are forcefully taken from you and handed to the state. Everything is regulated. The laws are such that your sentence is entirely at the mercy of the system, simply getting an order of marijuana can be charged anywhere from a low level crime to participation in a conspiracy with a thousand additional charges. Huge amounts of people are paid or coerced into becoming secret government informants. The mainstream media is owned by the political establishment, simply look at what Wikileaks has done versus what Fox or CNN have done. Propaganda surrounds us from the media, the schools, everywhere government sponsored propaganda is blasted at us. They track us by our cell phones, by our license plates, by huge networks of secret CCTV cameras and facial/gait/eye/remote fingerprint recognition technologies. People are arrested for simple things like possession of marijuana and sent off to indoctrination camps or locked in cells for years. Then they are released and monitored closely by parole officers. Our religious rights are trampled, the constitution says that the state shall not respect one religion over another, so why can some religious faiths use Peyote, some DMT? Why can Christians go worship God at church but we can not experience God through LSD or other psychedelics? U.S.A is a police state and honestly the people responsible must die. There is no victory for us until the people who have created this mess have severe damage done against them. A lot of people need to die, and I hope that I get to live to see the day. I hope I live to see the day that these scumbag federal agent slave traffickers are fucking gassed.  I hope I get to see the day that all of the politicians selling us into slavery for the profit of the prison industrial complex get executed by firing squads.

Watching the officers fist bump and high-five each other as they tracked broken glass from the front door through the house

And these cocksucking adrenaline junkies will hide behind shit like "doing the right thing" and the law when they're just playing rambo at the expense of largely innocent people who will never be the same after being violated like that. It wouldn't surprise me if, one day, we hear about the same unprofessional condom fodder breaking into a house filled with mustard gas and black recluse spiders.

Just keep faith that someday they will be lined up against walls and shot.

You know what I actually apologize for even making this thread. Shannon says plenty of good things and a lot of it is even apparently unique. I just find it strange that out of every single poster here, QTC and Shannon are the only two who I feel inclined to accuse of plagiarism. It is nothing personal honestly, just a strange thing for me to feel this way.

/dev/urandom should be more than good enough

dd9jn, the lead developer of gpg disagrees with this, his opinion is that urandom is certainly not good enough and random is probably not good enough, i don't know why he thinks this though and will have to ask him next time i see him online

i agree with the both of you though that you don't need to worry about the quality of your entropy pool unless your name is saddam bin laden muhammad ali jihad, i was mainly worried about the speed of the pool since i'm an impatient fuck

Well if /dev/random isn't good enough then /dev/urandom can't possibly be.

I don't know what everybody has against reporters. Investigative journalists doing things that put innocent people are risk? Bad. Propagandists workings by proxy for the state? Bad. Real journalists? Good, and a respectable career at that.

ben, that post from k was a toy cipher and has nothing to do with pgp

jforce, if you want to learn more you should buy/download a textbook on security engineering, you can learn a lot of things about security engineering/security models without any previous knowledge, learning cryptography will require graduate-level math knowledge though

I always had the feeling shannon was QTC, I'm wrong frequently tho

Oh I am sure Shannon is QTC because QTC was always plagiarizing people too.

2067
Okay I can confirm that Shannon knows a long list of private scene forums of the past, still would be nice to know who she claims she was on these forums (especially as all of the names of those forums have been leaked at one point or another). If I actually know who you are why not just tell me the nym you used. I just find it strange to see you write things that are so similar to things other people have written. At first I was just going to ignore it because really I don't care, but after so many times I really just would love to get to the bottom of why this is happening.

2068
by the way did you tap into our private ECDH encrypted IRC conversation when we in real time discussed the customs seizure letter he got + I gave him the advice of calling from a burner phone? I can't imagine where else you heard about it, considering I was on every forum he was, and hm let me think I know every single person involved with that deal who knows about what happened and I have no fucking clue who you are !! Why would he talk with some random person about importing so much LSD?

let's see here:

my post almost five months ago:

What about all of the vendors who used fake ID boxes and didn't get busted because of it? One vendor who had 5 grams of crystal LSD seized and didn't go in to pick it up because the tracking said "Held by non-customs federal agency" comes to mind. He called from a burner phone from a random location to inquire about the status of his package, and they kindly informed him that they wanted to question him about a baggie of material that was discovered in his package. Another also comes to mind where hundreds of sheets to multiple people resulted in raids, and since everyone else who participated in that order got raided he decided not to go to his box to pick up his package. What about all the people who drop their boxes after they find out one of the people who they get shit from was arrested, making it so they don't give a fuck if the person gives shipping info to the feds. What about the fact that its harder for LE to put a bunch of fake ID box locations under constant manned surveillance than it is for them to log all of the addresses on outgoing mail from a vendor they put under surveillance. What about the fact that there is technically nothing stopping you from having vendors use broadcasting interception detection technology to alert you if your package has been opened in transit. What about the fact that they sign for the package for you ? What about the fact that if some asshole you order from decides to blackmail you with your address or spam your address, you can just drop the box and get another one? What about etc etc etc. Fake ID private mail boxes are the clear winner, but try to use in state ID if you can.

your post today:

it's actually not a terrible idea

i know somebody who suspected an interception and called up the usps from a burner to inquire about their package, they helpfully disclosed that a package containing an unknown white powder was seized, then that person simply never went to pick it up

This is not the most blatant example of plagiarism I have seen you engage in, but although I have been noticing it for quite some time I have not been keeping records. My favorite was when you copied a post off SOS talking about how admin of OVDB ran multiple forums in the past and closed them down only a few months later, that one was pretty much a word for word copy of someone I actually know and talk with (someone who you are not).

2070
It is not just the experience but the very wording. In some cases it looks as if you have directly copy pasted something and only changed one or two words around. Plenty of people here have shared past experiences and contacts with me, but nobody else here has shared past posts with me.
