It is also worth noting that someone who orders kilo of cocaine probably has a lot of money that the feds can seize once they bust him, so even if they do not get the escrow money back, they will likely more than be able to cover the loss.

I suppose you have a point that we are already giving our names and addresses to random fucks anyway. The question comes down to, will it be more likely for customs to intercept the package if it is sent via traditional mail, or will it be more likely that all of the people who sign up for the transporter service are undercover LE. I wouldn't be surprised if they are willing to take a decent monetary loss in order to catch someone who they suspect regularly orders kilograms of cocaine. Plus they will of course wait for the buyer to pick up and ID them , and confirm that the order went great, before they bust the buyer. They will already have covert surveillance of them and enough evidence to bust them, so waiting a few days or however long to get their escrow money back and a positive review will not be such a big deal. All I mean by I would trust the mail more than some random fuck is that I am not sure the delivery service wont quickly turn into a giant LE honeypot for busting bulk customers, although you do make a very good point that people ordering bulk here or anywhere else anonymous are already trusting one random fuck to not be LE.

I like the idea of GPS assisted dead drops for moving bulk, or for doing local deliveries of small amounts in a small area. Mail is still pretty safe though, I might actually trust the mail to move a kilo of coke more than I trust some random fuck on a .onion site. In any case the buyer should not give the drop off point or else they could be LE and bust the delivery person, delivery person should pick the drop off point in an area close to where the buyer suggests (by close I mean within sixty miles or so). Biggest risk is that mostly LE will sign up for the long distance transporting service, to bust customers, who are all going to be bulk dealers. For localized dead drops, where vendors deliver inside a local region (probably big cities would be best), I think the idea is pretty solid though. It avoids the need for mail transportation which drops seizure risk substantially, keeps anonymity for the vendor (really it increases it as they can drop product off literally at countless locations) and increases anonymity some for the customer (picking up from a random location the vendor picks is probably even a bit safer than using a fake ID box).

Maybe I'm a bit paranoid and have nothing to worry about but...it freaked me out...I'm really not happy with the vendor either about this...although the tear was not there fault why wouldn't they tape the sides like every other fucking weed vendor?

Probably because taped sides are a flag.

Some of the complaints in this thread seem somewhat unfounded to me. Standard stealth shipping has always been printed labels, flat as possible / small as possible container, vacuum sealed product (sometimes in two or three bags). I am sure it can be improved upon some, most notably with less permeable vacuum seal bags, but if you are complaining about getting a few grams of powder shipped to you vacuum sealed between two sheets of paper in a priority mail envelope, you are really setting a higher standard than has ever been the the case. I have gotten international packages that consisted of powder dumped into heavily taped cardboard envelopes , that sounded like baby rattles when shaken , from the  powder bouncing around all over the damn place. That is horrible shipping. Vacuum sealed flat in an inconspicuous envelope between two sheets of paper? What more could you really ask for other than that better bags are used perhaps?

I note someone in this thread mentioned he thinks his package was seized because it was express shipped. This is very possible, in my experience I have seen far more express packages intercepted than anything else. Especially international overnight shipped packages are inspected in high percentages I think. Fast shipping is also a known flag for drug packages, the faster the shipping method is the more likely LE are to think the package is suspect and inspect it. Slower shipping has problems as well, like being in the mail system for longer, but I am actually pretty positive that slower shipping is less likely to lead to an interception. Maybe somewhere in the middle is best :), but overnight definitely is the worst.

Moisture barrier bags look like they all have metal foil on them. In general I would avoid shipping anything with metal foil on it if it can be avoided, I suspect packages containing metal are more likely to be inspected actually. I will need to read the thread about vacuum sealed bags first I suppose, but my initial thought is certainly that something creating a vacuum is far less likely to have scent permeate it than something without a vacuum. I also recall there was another vacuum sealing thread where someone with a drug dog tested several packages with different sorts of drugs, and the time spans for detectable permeation ranged from many hours to days, increasing substantially with each added layer of vacuum bag. Another technique I have heard people suggest is vacuum sealing the product in one bag, filling another vacuum seal bag with activated charcoal and then vacuum sealing it around the first bag. I have no idea if this is effective at preventing scent from permeating through all the layers or not, but I am positive it is effective at making the package weigh more. The more a package weighs the more likely it is to be inspected, weight is actually one of the most likely things to get a package selected for inspection. They are more interested in stopping big shipments of drugs than personal use amounts, and big shipments of drugs weigh more so of course they are going to be more likely to inspect a package if it weighs more. This makes me apprehensive about doing anything that will substantially increase the weight of a package, unless it is already quite heavy I suppose. Also, I have read in several profiling papers on drug dealers that the most sophisticated dealers vacuum seal their packages to prevent detection, it seems that if the most elite drug trafficking groups are using vacuum sealing that it is a legitimate technique, I have never heard of them using foil bags but I do have citations that they utilize mathematical / physics formulas to determine how long it will take for the scent to permeate their bags, to make sure their product is undetectable for the entire time it is in transit.

So pretty much I think we should take the utmost caution when it comes to changing standard procedure for packaging things. Is there room for improvement? Certainly. There are all kinds of cool techniques as well, for example making pottery out of ketamine and then smashing it to bits and extracting it on the other end. People have done this with coke and they were busted because dogs could smell it , but for ketamine it may be a great way to move bulk. Vendors should really take care to change up their shipping methods somewhat as well, because they want to avoid being profiled. It is also really important for bothvendor and customer to understand the intelligence risk of checking tracking with proxy services, and weigh it against the benefits, and think of solutions that will work for them (checking tracking from home without a proxy is generally a BAD idea, but imo it is generally a bad idea to get shit sent to your house in the first place. Checking tracking with Tor from home on a package that is being sent to your home, is quite likely more dangerous than checking tracking without Tor on a package that is being sent to your home). Also a worry is that vendors use tracking stickers with sequential labels, and that an intercept of a single package sent out could lead to sequential serial numbers being flagged as well.

Security / do not open clearnet links outside of Tor
« on: March 30, 2013, 11:49 am »
I see one poster  (ato72543) in particular keeps posting clearnet links and suggesting that people do not open them with Tor. This is Bad Advice. In one case he had a somewhat plausible explanation, in that he linked to a flash video tutorial on using GPG, and flash CAN circumvent Tor. This fails to address the point that NOT USING TOR CIRCUMVENTS TOR IN ALL CASES. Better advice would be "don't look at flash videos people here post, period". In other cases he is giving links to .html sites and suggesting that people open them outside of Tor. In this case, there is no plausible explanation for why this would even potentially be considered good advice, and it is pretty obvious that he is confused about how Tor works if he thinks it is not meant for accessing the clearnet with it.

there is absolutely no reason to open that outside of Tor and actually it is horrible for your security if you open clearnet links here outside of Tor.

Philosophy, Economics and Justice / Re: Would Anarchy work?
« on: March 30, 2013, 09:34 am »
I'm inclined to think that thinking of anarchy as a concept by itself doesn't make sense. The concept of Anarchy is in the same bracket as the concept of "State". A state can be a state+monarchy, state+republic, state+democracy and so on. But you don't get a State by itself as some kind of platonic ideal or something.

Crypto+anarchy. Anarco+communim, Anarco+capitalism make sense, those are systems you can take practical steps to build. Whether they'll work or not is the issue. I think we've seen a slow but certain shift from hierarchical systems to networked systems over a few centuries.

What I'd ask SS and northsouth and PurpleHue, is what is their vision of the future, say in 2050 and in 2100.

I'm not really sure that you're right about that, to be blunt.  I'm not trying to directly contradict your statement, mind you -- but I'd be very, very surprised if this is the only time in the history of mankind that circumstances and affairs have been like they are today.  Now naturally the state of technology and weapons is new, but societies on the verge of collapse, economies failing, general discontent by the populace at large... that's happened tons of times.

Did anarchy ever come out of it before?  Well I don't know.  I'm not a history buff.  But I'm assuming it didn't, or those who believe it's a good form of gov't would cite it as support.  But then, your position is that it's the technology we now have that would allow it to work.  I don't know about that.  What technology do we really have that radically changes the situation, other than massive levels of communication?

Is that enough to bring it about?  I won't pretend to know that, and I don't.  I also have no clue what 2050 or 2100 will look like.  At the rate we're going, we'll have terrible vegetation, vanishing resources, constant wars, and mankind may just destroy itself by then or shortly thereafter.  Or we may use our technology to create what today we'd call a utopia.  I doubt that very much, given human nature, but it's possible.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Netwar

You should read about netwar if you want answers to those questions. Largely you answered it yourself though, what we have now is a massive capability to communicate with each other, in a secure and anonymous fashion in particular. Also, with Bitcoins, we have the ability to store and transfer wealth securely and anonymously, across national borders with little to no regulation. These are very important changes, and they lead to a natural reorganization of the groups that utilize them, into more efficient and dynamic structures. This is what Pine means by saying that there is a change from hierarchical models to networked models. In a hierarchical model there will be those who lead a group authoritatively, in a networked model there are merely actors, the more successful actors gain followers but they do not lead them in the same sense. It is similar to the online drug scene really, right now DPR runs the most successful site, but he is not the leader of us in the same sense that Pablo Escobar was the leader of his cartel. Rather he is one of the more active actors and has taken measures that bring him the most followers. This structure is extremely resilient to traditional governmental attacks, the first example that pops into my mind is a decapitation attack. With a traditional hierarchical model, attacking the leaders of the movement can kill the movement if successful, in a networked model the most active nodes are easily replaced when they are compromised. Additionally, the network consists of individual actors that can react to change in real time on their own prerogative, this is in contrast to a hierarchical model  in which data flows upward to the commanders and instructions move downwards from the commanders to the actors. Removing the latency involved with that bi-directional information / command chain significantly increases the strength of the network.

Also Anarchy is NOT a form of government, in the same way that Atheism is not a form of religion. Anarchy is the lack of government. Anarchists correctly believe that all government is inherently coercive, and they prefer a free market approach to society instead. Anarchists recognize that taxation is theft, that people going to prison for drug crimes are slaves, etc. Government is always inherently criminal and rights violating, they steal our money, they enforce seemingly arbitrary laws on us (often religious based), they restrict what we can do (beyond not restricting others freedoms). Anarchists are purely pro-freedom and they correctly view government as inherently pro-slavery.

Security / Re: Tor video chat, audio chat, or text chat?
« on: March 28, 2013, 06:11 am »
I don't understand what the fascination with voice communication is. I absolutely hate voice communication, text is superior in every single way, from a security stand point, from a practicality stand point, etc. Yeah let's use a communication medium that is extraordinarily difficult to secure or anonymize, that requires our dedicated attention to a single conversation at a time, that we cannot replay in our heads verbatim easily, and cannot take time to think of our responses without a lot of awkward pausing. Fuck voice communication entirely. And yeah let's also throw video in so we can communicate our emotions with complex facial gestures IN ADDITION to prosody, instead of using our brains to determine emotional state from situational inference !!! :D :) ( really :/ ) !!

I personally see the drug laws within the United States relaxing in the upcoming years. We are in serious debt,no longer can we afford to lock up individuals for drug related crimes;attitudes are changing. Drugs are a personal choice, I believe there should be age restrictions, but other than that, you should be free to do what you want to your body.

As time passes and more and more old people die and more and more young people are allowed to vote, there could be some serious change in the drug laws. Old people are mostly irreparably  indoctrinated , young people are mostly wise to bullshit and lies (probably largely thanks to the internet!). It is too bad that we don't have upper age limits on voting as well, since we have lower age limits. Although I favor anarchy, I also favor revoking peoples right to vote when they turn , I dunno, 60? People start to get really out of touch. I listened to some old people a while ago and they pretty much said "Praise the good Lord Jesus, may he save us from the coloreds, the homosexual agenda and the druggies!." Once the majority of people like that are confined largely to the history books, maybe we will have a chance at living in a somewhat freer society. Chances are it will also be quite socialist though, which sucks, but given the choice between libertarian-socialism (freedom of life, financial slavery to the collective) and fascist theocracy (no freedom at all, Biblical laws) it really is a pretty obvious choice.

There are some troubling things on the way.  Google glasses are one of them, they will be taking pictures constantly and sending them to google.  Just what I need is some dumbass wearing google glasses at the bar when I am trying to have some fun.

Also interesting is the recent research into FMRI lie detectors.  They can now look at a real time brain scan and tell if people are lying about a task.  Zoom ahead several years, they will be able to see our brain waves from a distance, and tell if we are on drugs, have altered mind state, are anxious, sexually aroused, etc...  Bad news for privacy...

They can already tell if we are anxious from a distance, that technology has been incorporated into many airports. Very likely they can tell other things from a distance as well. They have extremely accurate lie detection tools now as well, as you mention, and even have fairly accurate mind reading tools as well (requiring direct links to the brain though).

It is true though that a compromise of the server should not be too devastating. The worst that should come from the server being compromised:

A. Customers who don't encrypt their addresses with GPG are fucked (they should have learned to use GPG themselves)

B. Customers and vendors who use fed controlled entry guards are fucked (Tor is not magic, but apparently the feds cannot trace through it with traffic analysis to locate hidden services, so I guess I wouldn't worry a whole lot about this)

C. The escrow may be stolen and or seized

D. The site may be temporarily taken down, the .onion addresses may be compromised (but DPR has a private GPG key and can authenticate any new addresses as being legitimate)

so it wouldn't be a good thing for sure, but it would not be game over man by any means, unless DPR is hosting the site out of his bedroom and all of the vendors happen to be using fed controlled entry guards and none of the customers are using GPG and there is no isolation of the web server at all.

by which I mean, there are more effects out there than you can get from traditional psychedelics. By a lot. I don't know about these new chemicals , as I have sworn off taking untested drugs long ago now (well, sort of long ago), but the old school research chemicals are not really trying to replace traditional psychedelics. They are adding to the list of psychedelic experiences. If you want to limit yourself to the traditional psychedelics, more power to you I guess. But it is naive to say that only the traditional psychedelics are any good. They do tend to be some of the best (LSD IS the best), and they are pretty much all the safest, but they simply do not cover the same range of effects and time durations as the research chemicals do. None of the traditional psychedelics give cartooning or tracers like 2c-b does, for one out of thousands of examples. None of the traditional psychedelics give the same auditory distortions as DIPT or 5-meo-DIPT. There is a full world of psychedelics out there and saying they are all LSD knock offs for stupid kids who can't get LSD is just stupid.
