I went to see the profile page of a vendor with whom I was communicating and every time I do so, it just takes me to their message interface.
I'd seen it before and wanted to see what else they had to offer, but now it doesn't seem accessible - even if I cut-and-paste the unique variable from there onto a user profile page.
Does this mean they're gone or in silent mode?
Thanks.

Yes. This may also happen if they don't have any active listings but I could be wrong.

This means that the vendor's account has been suspended / deleted by Silk Road administrators, likely for scamming / threatening behaviour.

If a vendor is in Stealth Mode, it will say so on their vendor profile, and they (and their listings) will be hidden from the search results / categories. If they have no active listings, it will state that on their profile.

Recently I saw a vendor's profile do this but now they are back so apparently it doesn't always mean they were deleted.

I'm afraid it does; a vendor's account gets suspended during an investigation. If the results of that investigation favour the vendor, his/her account is reinstated and their account is watched a little more closely than others.
What you saw was the above in action.

Makes sense but for the record it could just mean the account is suspended, not deleted...

Very valid point; my original post in this thread has been edited to include 'suspended'.

I've definitely seen it for reputable vendors who just have nothing to sell. Granted I'm not a vendor but I'm quite positive on this. Maybe things have changed

This isn't possible as the Silk Road user link is static; when you purchase vending privileges the page at your static link is 'unlocked' for lack of a better word to enable a different template which will ALWAYS have your username, vendor rankings and 'report this vendor' link on it regardless of whether you're making any sales or not. If a vendor has nothing to sell, their profile will show the 'no listings' notice; however, the actual page will always stay the same.
The ONLY way to have a page which is just a user message interface is if you no longer have vending privileges and your account has been demoted to a regular user account.

Thanks, that all makes sense. Hope he's just suspended and will come back, seemed like a good vendor.
