Title: Warning: Vendor 'notamused' phished.
Post by: grahamgreene on December 24, 2012, 02:50 am
Hi all,

It would seem that 'notamused' has fallen victim to phishing:
http://silkroadvb5piz3r.onion/silkroad/user/0e6c9eeb0b

For customers, if you have encrypted all sensitive information with the vendor's PGP key then you should have nothing to worry about. Not sure how this will affect any orders, if at all.

Stay vigilant, encrypt all sensitive information, and always always always make sure you're using the correct Silk Road address (http://silkroadvb5piz3r.onion/)

I dont know if he has been phished but I saw his super cheap pounds a few days ago, listed at $2000, his OZs are usually around $250 - $300 so I thought it was weird. I thought there was a good chance the vendor was scamming, or maybe he got phished.

Whilst a scam is certainly possible there is currently no evidence to back that up; on the flip-side, it is a possibility that cannot be discounted. notamused has been here long enough to follow correct security procedures which does make me wonder about being phished, but I think if it were a scam they would leave their listings up given the large amount of people seemingly willing to FE for them.

Only time will tell, I guess.

This should be brought to the attention of the people who can suspend his account immediately!!

I have already messaged SR Support regarding this issue; when they see it, they'll take whatever course of action is necessary.

I noticed the FE feedback last week but have not spoken to notamused in months so, I'll be looking into this.

Considering the anonymous nature of vendor accounts I would count being phished as scamming. There is no way we can ever tell what really happened. All we know is 1 thing, multiple people got scammed while doing transactions with a vendor using the name notamused

I for one am not amused. ::)
When I see a price that is too good to be true, well.......
Somebody asked me a few days ago about this vendor. Hmmm, FE, great prices. A bunch of FE reviews, but no real reviews of late. Hmm, I'll wait ;)
So sad :(

Merry Christmas.

What kind of phisher blows up his own spot? Any black hat phisher with some sense would know to milk the fuck out of their catch.

lol that dude just couldn't resist, and doesnt notamued require everyone to FE, im pretty sure only suckas FE, you should never FE unless your fine with losing your coins, it happens all the time supertrips- required FE everyone kept ordering anyway then he had issues and everyone starts bitching cause they lost there coin(thou he now has refunded most), nipplecansuck i saw this one coming once he put up that 10% bonus thing for FE a bunch of people FE'ed and then once again there order doesnt show and they have a bitch fit, only FE if your a noob and have to get your initial purchases

So I ordered from him, probably a week ago, before anything weird started happening.  couple days later that weird thing with the pictures happened where sr address were attached.  Prior to all this he had posted he would be gone for 4 days due to vacation for xmas back around 26th if i remember. Anyways now I go back to his site and its gone.  So was a I scammed? We IM'd alot prior to the order and I felt comfortable and he was answering in a timely matter.  Money gone now I'm guessing?  Also whats the definition of "Phishing". Scamming I get, but phishing is?

Ever been to a website that looks exactly like the actual site, but has a different URL? That's someone phishing. It's a fake page designed to look just like the original page it's mocking, but it'll always have a different URL. Smart phishers will try to make their URLs as genuine as possible. Sometimes they use sub domains to confuse the victim, or swap out a letter that looks like another letter (such as p and q).

I've never ordered or talked to notamused, but it almost seems like he decided to go on a scam spree and blame it on a phisher. Not claiming this is true, just seems like it... :-X

I've talked to notamused before and he seemed like a standup guy. I'd believe he was phished before I believed he started scamming.

Also whats the definition of "Phishing". Scamming I get, but phishing is?

If his account was phished, that means he doesn't have control of it anymore. There used to be silkroad phishing sites all the time. I'd hope he was smarter than to fall for that, but it happens.

I have never used him either but some things are constants.  As ppl have said, unless you don't have an adequate SR profile, there is seldom a reason to FE unless you are prepared to be separated from your coins.  I would be leery of any source whose majority of listings require you to FE or sources who offer incentives if you make deals out of escrow.

Hmm, placed a domestic order for deems 7 working days ago. Sad to hear, what kind of cruel person phishes/scams someone on DMT? That'd like, make all my trips go scary. I shouldn't have FE'd, I figured it was only about 30$ so felt like being risky, but hey, would've been nice to have.

I am unsure of security protocols for vendors here but there should be one where you have a secret question and when support gets an accusation that an account has been phished then they can temp suspend an account and require whoever is accessing it to answer that question. If answered right then the account could be put back in motion and if answered wrong...well I beleive 3 attempts is fair.

This also is one of the vendors I was looking at for ketamine.  I need bulk ketamine. But he required FE for large K orders. Ive done that before, never again.  Never ordered from notamused though.

I hate how it seems so hard to find legit vendors on here. Can't someone just supply me with 100 grams of ket a week without chargin me 1300 an ounce? and have tracked and fast shipping?

Shit, I finalized on an ounce of Ket.  There goes $750 down the drain. Live and learn I guess.

I was looking at his K listings as well. I just didn't feel comfortable ordering k from the guy. Didn't seem like many had and didn't see enough in the forums to show he was legit with those orders.  When I look for a vendor I look for reviews on that specific vendor and about the specific product. Undortunately even though there are a few reviews that are decent about Notamused there were none on the k.

BTW can you update if that ever comes?  While I prob wouldn't order from him now with this thread unless a few months went by and he was getting good reviews on that product, I would like to know if someone who ordered an ounce of K from him ever got it.  Im always on the lookout for a domestic K supplier in the 28-250 gram range.  They must offer different quantities in that range and have good feed back on several of the listings so I know its not a thing where they are reliable on a common amount and then selectively scam on the large orders after you pull the trigger.
