Title: tormail help please
Post by: indoorfarmer on October 17, 2012, 09:19 am
Was wondering I need to send a confidential email to someone and do I need to send from tormail or can I send from regular email and still be straight as long as the email is going to a tormail account?

If you want it to be truly 'confidential' you'll need to use PGP to encrypt it. Tormail is NOT a secure email provider. The only thing that Tormail lacks is your IP address; all emails are stored in plain text on Tormail servers. They also have your login name and password, just as hotmail, gmail, yahoo etc. do.

Always presume that any system you are using has been compromised, and that goes for Silk Road too. Encrypt all sensitive or identifying information in messages within Silk Road and externally when using email.

By all means use Tormail to send your message, but ensure that you encrypt the text before pasting it into the message and sending it.
