Title: Mt. Gox Delays
Post by: mconrad on October 13, 2012, 06:06 pm
Hello

I am new to SR so perhaps I am being impatient but I wired $1000 to Mt. Gox 4 days ago and their support emailed me telling my funds are being held up for AML whatever this means - and I am wondering is this normal?

They do mention AML somewhere on their website , it's got something to do with money laundering ....

Did you access Mt.Gox using TOR? This immediately flags your account and starts their AML / KYC (Anti-Money Laundering / Know Your Customer) procedure. Even if you didn't access Mt.Gox via TOR, in the terms and conditions that you agreed to when you opened up an account with them you acknowledged the fact that Mt.Gox may ask you to verify your identity at any time.

They won't release your funds to you until you verify your identity by sending them a scan of an ID and proof of address.
