Title: Remembering the SR .onion address.
Post by: thesearstower on October 13, 2012, 03:35 am
There was a thread a while ago with people giving mnemonics that helped to remember the SR address so you didn't have to bookmark it or go to the Wikipedia page to get the link. Here's the one that stuck in my head.

silkroadvb5piz3r.onion

Vagrant
Blows
5
Penises
Including
Zach's
3
Roosters

.onion

It's hard to get the image of a homeless man giving out 5 BJs before moving on to roosters out of your head. That's probably why it works.

This is for everyone: Don't rely on the hidden wiki to get the silkroad address. Someone could change the link to something that looks like silkroad, but then they just get your login info.

I would think that using other words to remember it only makes it more difficult. It's not really a hard link to remember. But it's fun to read how you guys remember it :)

In the interests of plausible deniability I would recommend that you do not bookmark Silk Road itself; save the address in a .txt file if necessary and encrypt that file.

Actually, mate, the "alternative words" are called mnemonic devices, and this technique is what those brain freaks use that go on game shows remembering like 100 digit numbers etc. The choice of words or shapes or devices depends on what is relevant to the individual.

CLEARNET!: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mnemonic

Try playing with it for a bit, you will find this technique really improves your ability to remember information strings that would otherwise be really hard to remember...

You took the words right out of my mouth. That's exactly the way I remembered since it changed as it sorta makes sense if you think about it. DPR=CEO of Pfizer. There it was right in front of our faces this whole time lol.
