Title: Simple question: New & old addresses
Post by: joejoejoejoe on October 02, 2012, 03:33 pm
I sent in some BC to a SR generated address which haven't arrived yet. I want to send in more BC to make a larger order and I want to do it to a new address. There aren't any issues with generating a new SR address before your old coins have arrived? It would seem very stupid if so, but I just want to be certain that they'll all show up.

Hi joejoejoejoe,

There have been many instances in the past where users hit 'get a new address' before their Bitcoin has shown up in their SR Account and their account hasn't been credited. To remedy this they have to contact SR Support with the details of the transfer (address, time, amount etc.) and wait for SR Support to credit their account. SR Support are very busy at the best of times, so this can sometimes take a couple of days.

Silk Road uses an internal wallet system to move user's money around; technically all previous addresses used by you can still be used to credit your account, though as I stated above, there can sometimes be problems with using new addresses to send more Bitcoin before the Bitcoin you previously sent has arrived. Some users have also experienced problems sending Bitcoin to their old addresses.

I would recommend that you transfer your Bitcoin to your SR account, wait for it to be credited, then hit 'get a new address' and transfer the next lot. You always want to hit 'get a new address' before making a transfer in order to eliminate the possibility of any problems the likes of which have been experienced by some other members.
