Title: Finalize Button Unavailable
Post by: USAdd on September 13, 2012, 03:00 pm
Hi,
My customer says that the finalize button for a recent order says that it is unavailable for 24hrs. Yes the order was marked in transit. I was wondering if there was a minimum wait time to finalize after being marked in transit to ensure people don't finalize early, or if this is just an anomaly. Yes the order has arrived and was deemed satisfactory by the customer. Is this just a temporary glitch? The order says 16 days to auto finalize on my end.
Thanks in advance!

As you have less than 35 transactions, you are prohibited from asking buyers to FE. Buyers from vendors with less than 35 transactions cannot finalize for 3 days after the package has been marked in transit. This was put in place to protect buyers from scamming. I'm not saying that you are asking for FE, just stating the rules.

From the Silk Road Seller's Guide (http://silkroadvb5piz3r.onion/index.php/silkroad/sellers_guide)

Quote from: Silk Road Seller's Guide
NOTICE: If you are a new vendor, you may not ask your customers to finalize their orders and release payment to you before you ship, a practice known as "finalizing early". If you do this, you will lose your selling priviledges. Once you have completed 35 successful transactions and have been a seller for at least one month, you may ask your customers to finalize early without reprocussion. In no way do we support finalizing early in general and this rule should not be construed as support for finalizing early for more established vendors.

As the order seems to have arrived in 1 day, the buyer will be able to finalize in 2 more days.

Thanks for the prompt reply! I was quite sure we had made this same transaction before in less than 3 days, but now you have me second guessing myself. Anyhow, shouldn't it have told him 48hrs instead of 24? I'm not disputing that this is the most likely reason, but the times don't seem to add up. I guess it's a moot point, I just find it odd. Thank you for helping me with this. The 3day rule had not occurred to me before your post, but it does sound reasonable.

I placed an order with a new vendor on Tuesday evening and it went into transit early Wed. morning (3:20am).  It says I will be able to finalize this evening (Thursday) in 7 hours.  If my math is correct, that is just over 48 hours.

Here are the details:
Order placed 9-11 at 7:49pm UTC
Marked in transit 9-12 at 3:20am UTC
It is currently 9-13 at 9:03pm UTC
Finalize button will be available in 7 hours....  which will be 9-14 at 4am UTC

So, maybe the 72 hours was changed by admin to 48 hours?  And the sellers guide is not yet updated?

Pat yourself on the back for being a quick shipping vendor USAdd. Keep it up and you will quickly have 35 transactions. Nice work.

Throw your vendor page in your sig so we can see what you are selling.

I'm not entirely sure why it stated 24 hours instead of 48/72. As a poster above stated, perhaps the time-frame was changed by the admins. It wouldn't do any harm to fire off a message to SR Support and see if they can clarify the issue.
