Title: Good ebook websites?
Post by: wowzers on April 13, 2012, 06:30 pm
Library.nu (gigapedia) was taken down and shortly after I had a hard drive failure  :(

Does anyone know of any similar ebook sites? I'm trying to rebuild my chemistry textbook library & am finding it impossible to get some titles which used to be on gigapedia. Cheers

Hi wowzers,

Perhaps at The Tor Library:

or have a browse over at the Free Bibliotheca Alexandrina:

I'm very much clutching at straws here, and these might be of no use to you whatsoever but I hope they can help!

i use them and love them for retail epubs, not a bad selection overall (nowhere close to gigapedia ofc), but they are down for some time too.

Usenet has a huge range of academic textbooks saved to the group alt.binaries.ebook-technical (might have a type in there but that's the group you are looking for).  You can search on binsearch.info for what you are looking for.  There's loads posted in there.  Give me a shout if you need any help locating stuff as you obviously need to get a good newsgroup provider as well etc, I can always upload stuff you are after to somewhere you can grab them from incognito.

I have been using Demonoid for years.  If you aren't already a member you will need an invite but you can browse and search the site to see if they have any of the books you are looking for, to see if they have what you are looking for before you then trying to get an invite code.
