Title: BitVPS.com: Quality Virtual Private Servers for Bitcoin
Post by: ageis on December 23, 2011, 09:55 pm
hi all. . I'm posting on behalf of BitVPS in order to advertise our services to the fine users of Silk Road.

We sell virtual private (and dedicated) servers in exchange for Bitcoin. So far we have two clusters (one in Dallas and one in Chicago) and, being relatively new, we're growing all the time. We have dynamic pricing, we have full virtualization, and our clusters are guaranteed never to be overcrowded.

Here's the thing, Silk Roaders: No warez, no Tor, and no illegal activity. While Bitcoin is a semi-anonymous currency, these VPS are not. You will be required to fill in your real information. If those terms are unacceptable to you; don't even bother applying -- your order will be discarded.

Right now you can get hooked up with a basic server starting in the range of 3-4 BTC. We do offer discounts for hosting Bitcoin-related projects. Over the holidays I am doing a little bit of a sales drive to bring in customers.

Take a moment to check out our plans: http://www.bitvps.com/services-pricing/virtual-private-servers (http://www.bitvps.com/services-pricing/virtual-private-servers)
And here is some information about the servers: http://www.bitvps.com/aboutus/about-our-servers (http://www.bitvps.com/aboutus/about-our-servers)

If you have any questions just e-mail sales@btcvps.net . We are also on IRC at #btcvps on Freenode.

So whats the point of paying with bitcoin if we have to fill out our real information?

Your question seems to rest on an assumption that anonymity is the only reason anybody would use Bitcoin. . . which is clearly not the case.
Each person who uses Bitcoin is, in their own small way, working against the hegemony of the credit card companies, banks, and PayPal.
We want you to be able to buy the goods and services you want without getting screwed by PayPal or having to deal with the bullshit of the global financial system.
We accept payment with Bitcoin because we want to provide a quality service to the people who are already users of that currency. . . Those are our people.
We want to grow the market, see Bitcoin flourish and watch what it can do. We have faith in it.
Besides, Silk Road can hardly be qualified as anonymous, and even Bitcoin itself is only psuedo/quasi/semi-anonymous.
