Hi Silk Roader's,
We think it would be really fun and convenient to have a browser based SR chat. Does anybody know if it is feasible? Does this service exist already?
Would be cool place for buyers and sellers to meet and chat. I guess one would have to register a nick name to prevent ID theft etc.. could be tricky. We do not have enough time to work out the other chat SILC?

I'd like to see this as well.
I'm on a mac and cannot for the life of me figure out how to get any of these SILC clients to install.
-
what I'd like to see, is an implemetation of Torchat which allows vendors to be notified of new pm's and orders.
But this really belongs in the Feature request section, please move it nomad :)

This is waaaaaaaay too complicated to implement with the required security. Facebook have a hard time keeping their chat secure... HTML wasn't made for chat, that's why we have SILC.... Why don't you advertise the silc channel on your user page and idle there... the sellers who idle in SILC answer questions and make sales there.

We would agree with Username100 here. Ofcourse we would also like to see it as a feature, in the way that it would make it easier to have contact with our clients. but on the more important side, the security risk. A web based chat would require a direct constant connection that is hard to make using the TOR network.

Colloquy for Mac is a SILC client, but so far I can't get it to work.

HTML based chat would be nice but there is plenty of flaws in the ability to set it up.
1. Every HTTP service that I have setup on Tor gets constantly hit with attacks. The volume is smaller than clearnet but the attacks are more sophisticated.
2. Most chats require either AJAX, HTML5 or javascript client side coding. These are insecure and disabled in the Tor bundle.
3. Server side HTML chat would be horrendously slow.
Currently the SILC server hums along, it hasn't been restarted since we first set it up and is pretty much as secure as we can get it. It is annoying to get the client working but I was under the impression that most Mac users have followed the Mac tutorial with success.

I did a search but couldn't find the mac tutorial. Where is it located, please, sir.
Oh wait, found it:

How do you brilliant Silk Roadians come up with these fantastic ideas?! TELL ME

Hey there,
We are going to check out the tutorials and try to work it out :) Chat would be a great addition for communication with customers.

I would love to see a SR chat but there are 2 many rookies using SR. LE are pros while so many SR users are not 2 street smart. If we have a SR chat we are going 2 have LE each day trying 2 pry info out of people and each day someone is going 2 fall for it.
