Hey man. I'm looking to buy some bitcoins using a prepaid visa gift card. I'm completely new to silk road, and am pretty much just figuring things out as I go. I thought I might try contacting a seller to see if I could just directly buy bitcoins through someone instead of going through a website. Hope to hear back form you.

I would normally say you are paranoid but it is weird he wouldn't contact a mod or something. If it were me and google was broken, I'd be looking to ask posters who have alot of posts or seem to help new members, it's weird he would contact a seller.
Just be careful, and if they do get you don't spit in the sink - it makes them go apeshit in there.

Probably just a newbie, but good that you didn't fall for it. Usually something like that, or somebody asking me where I'm at, or trying to get address, I say something to the effect that I know they aren't LE, but people would misunderstand such requests, and we try *not* to know much about each other, so that we can continue in freedom. Mostly a little schooling and they give up...but if they persist, then I get hard...

Hahaha! A big +1 for you Nomad for always helping to keep the humor in these threads. They can get monotonous to keep up with if the only things in them are mundane (and sometimes outright depressing too). Besides the obvious benefit of the humor, I know when I was a noob it was oppressive to try and read all of them when there wasn't some uplifting content to keep me going. I think we're much better off (both buyer and sellers) to have all newbies reading and keeping it interesting is certainly a big part of that.

Get info from him and charge him an extra 15-25% exchange/inconvenience fee
email exchanger from new address with prepaid visa info and have him send the BTC to bitcoin washer
send from washer to new accounts on SR
send from SR to bitcoin washer to exchanger
Cash :-p
Oh and mail the product from a different city/state :-p
and maybe raise the inconvenience fee much more, thats a real bitch haha.
