Withdrawals Disabled For 1 Hour - FIXED/ENABLED

Withdrawals have been disabled, this should last approximately 1 hour whilst we conduct investigations surrounding the Black Market Reloaded hack to ensure it cannot be used against Silk Road. We will also take a measure to prevent the server holding more bitcoin than is needed immediately so even if we do suffer a loss, it will only be me who loses money. We take your security and money very seriously and feel you should not be made to bare the loss in the event SilkRoad does ever suffer such an attack.

UPDATE 1: We have found something of interest and have penned a whole host of ideas we are implementing now so we have decided to extend the time withdrawals are disabled as a matter of precaution. If we find this to take too long (more than 12 hours) we will temporarily open withdrawals again so not to cause too much trouble. Thank you for your patience with us and here is to a secure future.

UPDATE 2: Issues have been resolved and new security measures are now in effect. Withdrawals are now enabled.

I was looking to put some more listings up but it's been impossible, I keep getting kicked out even if I do manage to get in.

I'm sure vendor registration will be open soon enough but the #1 priority is keeping the market safe and prevents hackers from stealing our money.  You won't be a vendor for long if a hacker steals all the money.

The BMR hacker could not have stolen the funds no matter what security vulnerabilities were present on a single server if backopy used multisig addresses. When are people going to realize this is the most painfully obvious idea ever.

I know. This DPR seems to have a lot of money. Instead of giving away $1000 to one post shill accounts, he could make an anonymous $50K donation to the Bitcoin Foundation or Electrum developers with the specific deliverable of integrating multisig escrow support. He might end up saving himself an his users from losing millions one day.

Not a bad idea. Something like a bounty for each client that says "To the person or persons who commits the changes that get released in a major version that allows multisig transactions I will give X bitcoins."

BTW even without multisig escrow, markets can store their coins in multisig addresses since they use bitcoind which already supports the feature. This requires no knowledge by or participation from users.

How does this work? Wouldn't SR need the private bitcoin key to sign such a transaction Or could SR publish a transaction to the blockchain without the recipients keys?  How would the buyer claim the transaction if SR went away, or would that be the responsibility of the vendor? Excuse my ignorance, I don't know much about the extended transaction options for bitcoin.
