An update on the situation
« on: December 01, 2013, 03:22:45 pm »
*update- December 10, 2013, 02:32:05 am* - http://silkroad5v7dywlc.onion/index.php?topic=7450.msg116152#msg116152

Right now, I like many of you can feel the shock of recent events which are now compounding together. As Sheep has closed and Black Market Reloaded have announced they are also soon to shut down this has put strain on our team unlike anything we've seen before. Tor was not designed to handle services of this size and so this is a network problem, not a Silk Road problem.

We are working on a way around this right now but unfortunately the only way to obtain a realistic impression of how successful our changes will be is to place them into a live testing environment which is something we never usually do, but it is required in these circumstances. Over the next 24 hours there will be a lot of up and down with the market and I can assure you we are working on it so please be patient, these are challenging times for our community and requires us to reach into the unknown of this technology as we scale.

I will make another announcement when we have more news to share.

Take as long as you need. Better to have a safe market which is regularly updated than allowing it to crash hard with the massive influx of people from sheep and BMR.

Cheers, Red.

Not sure if I'm just in a quizzical mood but most threads on here are utter bullshit with no meaning behind them or a healthy topic to discuss.

As a vendor on sheep market I've lost £ 16K. It's virtually destroyed us we've had to use our savings to pay ours suppliers. I still have debts with people that I can not honor at this time. 16,000 is a heavy impact on our cash flow. I feel fucked over big time.

I'm thinking this is along the lines of something like a mythical multi-headed beast.

DPR-Thank you for all you have done and are doing in order to allow us to have the freedom to choose, and a community of mostly  honest people. (I know that there are a lot of scammers out there, but if you follow three simple rules)  1)Never FE 2)Cover your ass 3)Keep your coin in a wallet outside site.) Do that and you will limit your risk ten fold.

I can't even imagine how much it takes to keep something like this running. So for that I thank you and stand with you!

mate i totally understand how you feel. when silkroad the first got sized we lost everything we had worked for over 2years working 18hour days and always rolling my profit back in, i had a nice portfolio of vendors accounts that i used and rented to people who i knew had the links to make it and gave many there first break. On friday night i saw the first of the back lashwhen 3 men started th kick my front door in. I to have been left with nothing but problems andunreasonable debt for supplied products only given upfront because of my word. problem is as solid as my word maybe it means nothing if you cant back it up. im weary to want to restart and spent weeks depressed and unable to function in the way i would had normally because of the way my life had vanished snatched over night with out warning and im now spending time in public ducking and diving to avoid people, friends some life long. so these acts of greed have monster sized never ending problems. in some ways i feel worse off than before silkroad.

As for the authenticity of sheeps claim's, i believe they are telling the truth after looking at block chain records and the list of withdrawals made puplic by sheeps admin. there site was just beginning to gain market status and had a booming trade so see little reason why they would run when they where clearly making progress on there market place status.

Could the market be divided into categories? One for cannabis, one for stimulants, etc? Each with a different Url and linked though the side menus? I know nothing about code so this may ve a stupid idea...

If the site is sharded into different urls then it should not be done by item type, but by random user ids. Sharding needs an even distribution.

If the bottleneck is the hidden service system then many hidden services could feed into the same server. This would also make DDOS very difficult.

Chill out man, they were not talking to the admins here, i don't know why, but they are talking on this forum to the sheep admins.

I am a Sheep refuge and i would be very grateful if they can manage to setup a solid working market which i can also use.

Keep up the good works and i hope you guys will be able to serve everyone soon, i hope we can finally settle on here and just have a good time instead of all those paranoid things going on all the time.

I just feel stupid i did not come here in the first place and went with that Sheep market, now i lost all my money because i made bad choice.

This is why I never trusted sheep/atlantis and will not trust these new popup markets like pandora and tormarket.  The sr folks seem legit busting their asses trying to create a functional and secure market.  That is probably the reason it has been 2 months since sr first went down and SR is just starting to implement the market site functions.

Good to see the SilkRoad team are keeping the community updated and are sharing information on what is going on behind the scenes and I give them my best to take on the traffic of past marketplaces albeit BlackMarketReloaded was the marketplace that gave SilkRoad a run for its money and will be up soon with v5 and share the glory with SilkRoad.
Knowledge is power and as a community that knowledge can be used as a tool to aid the community, as I am only human if anything I submit on these forums is incorrect please contact me directly or quote the noted error and I can learn from my mistakes and minimize any form of misinformation.

I have a lot of faith in this site and people running it. Take all the time you need to get things right.

After BMR is gone there ain't many other sites than SR2 which don't look like a scam.

BMR will come up in few months but it's possible there is new people in charge, so one don't really know what it will be about ... I certainly hope it will be for real ...
We need several healthy market places with people in charge who have some values.

It's kinda crazy that our worst enemy comes from the inside. The spineless creatures creating scamming sites are greater thread than LE. If I would be a vendor I would have no trust in sites now. . .  I used to think that never FE, right now if I trust the vendor I will FE. Escrow system as it is must change into being out of the site, too much risk otherwise to vendors ...

Ok I wish a good sunday to everyone, and to those who are having a dark weekend - remember things will always eventually get better ...
No I haven't seen your MDA...

But have you seen the DRAGONS in the kitchen ?!?!?!?!

come on guys lets not fight between us, lots are in shock and have a right to hate the world right now and will say things that they normally would not say. if we are to survive these ups and downs we must be united and stick together. What DPR is doing is a very difficult job that's normally got a safety net in place in the form a long testing period, He is trying to find a very fine balance between the masses now firing requests at a sever that was just getting warmed up and was idling at best to one now crashing because we are confusing the fuck out of it as its never seen such traffic hit it all at once now he has to judge the amount of connections to allow and be able to handling the data and get it to the correct place and processed in the correct way. Its not a easy job as the smallest adjustments can course wild  unexpected and unwanted side effects and these setting are vastly spread over hundreds of adjustment possibility's. spur him on, if you cant be nice don't say anything at all, Hes under enough stress and he might have a thought time as he begins to  start services the site needs. Give him something to smile about when he reads :) he is a brilliant man and he is by far the best hope we have, he is the only one who can do all this and under such pressure, thing go tits up when im under pressure, what about you? Hes still only human like us all :)

What does this mean for orders placed a couple of hours before the downtime? Sorry I am new to this and had placed an order and was waiting for the seller to confirm order. I assume it should be fine once the status is restored?

This is why I never trusted sheep/atlantis and will not trust these new popup markets like pandora and tormarket.  The sr folks seem legit busting their asses trying to create a functional and secure market.  That is probably the reason it has been 2 months since sr first went down and SR is just starting to implement the market site functions.

I can't trust anything more...

You shouldn't trust anything fully. I respect what DPR is doing here and have more faith (especially now...) in SR2.0 than the other markets, even though backopy is definitely being smart by possibly shutting things down while he can. The seizure of the Silk Road and the Sheep scam should teach us some important things: always use pgp and don't keep a balance on the market that you're not willing to possibly lose. The latter is especially important for vendors.

Right now I'm just worried bitcoins will fall and I won't be able to get what I want with my balance, but in reality this a pretty petty concern.

I am worried how the btc market will react to a 40$ mil theft.  Will it shake confidence on top of a dumping of 40 mil worth on the market?

If you're watching the charts, I'd say it's happening right now thanks to Mtgox's Black Friday no commissions, there some big trades diving the price as I type this.

Great. Sheep Marketplace probably stole it. I highly doubt it was a "thief".

They have paused withdrawals for over 2 weeks while they collect more BTC from my customers and I as people deposit money and spend (and we collect obviously).

We even contacted support to get it withdrawn - no response.

SHEEP WAS A SCAM - or atleast turned into that.

I'd recommend Tormarket (they are verifying old SR vendors and BMR vendors) and also the new SR 2.0. =D

Fucking asshats ruining all of it during this transitional period to a stable marketplace.

I'm so annoyed at Sheep, bitcoins were just getting stable and now I know at least where I live, we can't even sell them because every trading company has reached their limit and I'm just sitting here watching the prices go down and down. So happy with DPR though, seriously guys, awesome job, we all know you're doing the best you can.

bitcoin has far out run just us here its a international commodity and when the biggest underground site got shut on us it  was thought it would plummet if silkroad was to see its life time cut short for what ever reason but we saw a fast increase in price thanks mainly tot5he media attenntion they had not counted on and all they really did was seize a man a computer and advertize we are here but in a way far more effecvtive than ever before, when people read and saw the story on the news do you think they said oh shock fuck horror? Not A chance they thought fuck me its about time and put a reminder in their ipads to watch the news at 6pm to get all the details.  the more they shut and report on us the more they show freedom is out there you just need to now how to connect. this can not be won by them because they are a small group of people mainly the people who get paid trying to stop a revolution, get a proper job :)

the recent events just show how important a "idea" like DPR is. Now I understand why the fbi took ross.
Without our captains these markets turn into scam market  in which scum like people are trying to get ahead of each other.

We need DPR and even more DPR´s in future if the markets shall survive.

If the site is sharded into different urls then it should not be done by item type, but by random user ids. Sharding needs an even distribution.

If the bottleneck is the hidden service system then many hidden services could feed into the same server. This would also make DDOS very difficult.

100% this, the main hidden URL should act as a login server/load balancer. Once it verifies your identity, it should give you a session cookie and your a new url that you will redirect to for the session. You can round robin the sessions and if one server gets overloaded have it expire a number of the sessions so they will re-login and hit the round robin again. It may be wise to use SSL with this and have SR2 users download a root cert for SR to ensure no monkey business with the changing hidden service urls.

Unfortunately, with BTC going over $ 1000.00, the thieves and scammers  are going to be coming out of the woodwork. Security will be of the utmost importance as we move this venture forward. If there is no confidence in the market it will never work. We must vigilantly police our own community if there is going to be any hope of success. I would like to still have some faith in an UNREGULATED FREE MARKET.

Good luck with your efforts. Take your time, I think that safety is more important than convenience at this juncture.

Thank you,

Believe me my friend , Sheep was a scam from the start.

The only place I personally now trust is this.
When new BMR pops up it has promise , but looks like it might be run by different people, so one needs to be careful...

I think you are very wrong about Tormarket. I believe it is another scam operation and in core ran by the same people as Sheep was. They might have tricked some new folks to join staff etc. but behind the curtain someone is taking the blood out of the sheep...

Just look at the design. The look might be slightly different, but the functionality is the same, even going as far as having the forum integrated same way ...
It's not some open code you can pick from somewhere. It is no coincidence they look the same.

Forum moderator who got burnt also was told that the Sheep admin was starting or had already a new site running.
Did you notice that Tormarket gave free vendor accounts to Sheep vendors, wonder why...
I had thought for a while that Sheep was planned as a scam, this spineless creature knows what he is doing. He set up Tormarket month before running the Sheep con.
And there's been now Sheep moderators drumming for tormarket, coincidence ?

If I was a vendor I would stay far away from that place. Sure it can be ok for fast buys, but it will be another con in the end. . .
This individual is one of the worst enemies of black markets. We don't need LE to shut us down, all we need is these greedy blind mongers to crawl among us ...

And second warning, I believe Pandora is also a scam. This site is run by the MEthhead Flag Ship dude. When they ran their poor scam, the moderators were all drumming for Pandora from the flames... Lot of us watching closely came to conclusion that many of these moderators were the Methhead himself.  Just beware, friendly warning ...

So let me get this right[as i used sheep when the RD went down ]-EBOOK101 Hacks one vendor[or the sheep escrow] for 5000 bitcoin or $5million,the admin freaks out n bails with the rest?do i have it right guys?
Its been a funny ride,This last couple of months-only got on tor mid september [after nausing up a previous attempt to get on tor round about when silk road started 2yrs ago]-So anyway, set up a 1st deal,a small 'test run'and as it was oct2nd you all know what happened......oct 3rd.
So having had this great new world opened, but no more road,i ended up on Sheep, linked a brilliant Vendor.Luckily,i only had about £12 floating around in there and a failed delivery worth 50,but hell, the day before id recieved and okayed almost 300 to this great person.Knowing that he wouldnt of got that or dozens and dozens more like it is Soul Destroying, reading all these accounts is too,but at the same time, you have to look at the silk road as the enduring market made up of the only kinda people that can truly run a freemarket for the right reasons-as soon as it came back i began to use it,but i just hope these amazing Vendors havent taken too many hits as its just soul destroying what some people are going through now.DPR And the Silk road crew Are THE inspiration. You guys can do anything you want to do,ive very confidence in you guys.

This is a sad day for the darknet. The major marketplaces have been shutdown, starting with Atlantis, Silkroad, Sheep, then finally BMR. But remember the Darknet has the Hydra Effect. You destroy one, two more appear. You cannot stop an idea. Long Live Silkroad 2.0!

While BMR going down is a thing of mixed feelings, as a vendor (name withheld as I may open on here) I can say that up until now it was not a scam. Never had issues with anything but high traffic on there, and my btc was released with no issues. To be fair though I never kept a large amount stored on there. So now like everyone else I will wait and see what happens with this site as I truly do not trust Tor Market. The fact that the only way you can enter their forum is how you did on sheep bugs the sh*t out of me. ON a funny note deeb bay is still open. lol

Over the next 24 hours there will be a lot of up and down with the market and I can assure you we are working on it so please be patient, these are challenging times for our community and requires us to reach into the unknown of this technology as we scal

thanks 4 update ... madboylu4

Crazy theory but WHAT IF it was the feds and they set these markets up run them and then pull out 40k BTC in hopes of destroying the economy of BTC. Thats one true way they can help stop the ongoing online trades. And also all they have to do is destroy the computer with the wallet of 40k BTC and that btc is gone forever...buttttt it would just make less BTC and make it mroe valuable in the long run lol.

I still don't have the missing bitcoins in my account. It's been 2 weeks and DPR and support aren't telling me anything let alone doing anything to resolve the problem.

SHEEP WAS A SCAM - or atleast turned into that.

I'd recommend Tormarket (they are verifying old SR vendors and BMR vendors) and also the new SR 2.0. =D

( I copy-pasted some of this message from the post I made over at BMR forums. I just want to warn people not to fall into those sites. And for the record I'm not some SR2 promoter, I would love that we would have several trusted sites, unfortunately there is plenty of those out there who want your money no matter the means . . .  )

the new site that linked in the death/sorry letter is ran buy the same people its there plan start a new site before you end the last and watch all the same people return so he can scam you all again.

wake up stop his plan and just wait for silkroad we will find him hes got loads of your cash he wants to spend

i agree with one other comment i saw, where is the okay we lost some money but at least we have our website to work with by cutting the site he looses fuck all and can restart his trap again.

ON a funny note deeb bay is still open. lol

I agree, Sheep was not a scam until the end and even now the "owner" is promising to return funds to those who had emergency addresses.  Who knows if they will follow through with that but the bottom line is that is WAS a decent working platform and we made out quite well, even after counting our loss at the end we did very well.  Now we are eagerly awaiting for SR2 and tormarket to gain steam.

seriously? were where they sent from? and do you have the address you sent it to? all bitcoin transactions are kept in a public accessible record. you can track there movements very easily witch is why a tumber is so vital to hide your spending or vending history and even if told your coins are tumbled and clean dont just take there word double check by doing a tumble yourself!

I think it's great that there are still people like DPR and the crew out there who don't do this out of greed, but to keep the spirits that our governments are trying to suppress alive, to allow free trade, to allow humans to realize themselves without limitations and regulations, and to show that we, the people, will not yield, will not back down, but will keep on fighting until not the battle, but the war, is won!
We all stand behind you captain, you and the team are truly are source of inspiration to all of us!
Thank you!!

i have been using tor now for many years. since sr went down the first time i cant remember my login to the sr forums and seeing as i had to create a new username for sr i guess its only fitting i make an account on her matching. i just wanted to say i cant belief all the pressure the markets are taking right now. if you had ask me last year if the government could damper the market places on tor i would have had a very diffrent response. i have now seen many online markets come and go since then. hell i cant even remember the name of the first market site i started with. sr is truly different though  escrow services are just not offered anywhere else. the servers are not keep to sr standards on any other site. i also dont think any site could ever say they had been taken offline by the dea and still came back up. only a truly incredible and well comment crew like we see at sr could handle something like this. i can truly say even after all thats happened that i fill greatly confident in the captin and his team and that is a truly difficult thing to say especially with the diffcult times that has hit the road and every site on tor in the past months.
Thank you so much for you hard work and support   that you have given to our community.

Awesome post by androgenie!

It can't be said enough that you really really need to trust the site before you deposit your BTC with them. After all there's nothing stopping the admins from said site just walking away with all of the deposits one day. You can't find them. You can't sue them. You can't report them to the government. Darknet is a double edged sword. Protect yourselves accordingly. Trust but always verify. Don't deposit what you can't afford to lose. Don't take orders on coins in escrow that you can't afford to lose. Pretty simple but I know that some of the same people who got burned by the SR bust went over to Sheep and made the same mistake twice.  >:(

SHEEP WAS A SCAM - or atleast turned into that.

I'd recommend Tormarket (they are verifying old SR vendors and BMR vendors) and also the new SR 2.0. =D

Thanks for the update. It was pretty clear that Sheepmarketplace was a scam from the start ( The clue was in the name) It had a clearweb page (ffs) and there was no way I was going to use it - I feel sorry for people that did - but come on use your brains.  I'm sure that SR will do as good a job as possible on this. I'm just glad I waited until SR was back and running properly before using it. The old adage - if it seems to good to be true, it's because it is - springs to mind

Exactly. This is what LE and military folks call "scattering the roaches". Out of chaos comes arrests. That's how it's always been. Panic = impulse and stupidity. Crisis = danger and opportunity. The only question is opportunity for who?

I don't like the sound of this. DPR please take your time with any changes. It is in times like this that LE will find any weakness.

WOW... all I can say is WOW-so many changes in just a split second. Sheep's now down, BMR is closing and SR@ is now up & running! HOLY SHIT. However from the main page I am not able to get into ANYTHING-keep getting and error message. I'm nervous as hell this all is some huge setup and all can't be real. Gonna creep around for a bit before I do anything and let everything get settled. WOW.... IF ANYONE SEES MODZIW's ASS IN HERE ANYWHERE PLEASE TELL HIM I'M LOOKING FOR HIM!! I know he'll be here if he isn't already lol... that also goes for RxKing, Drughero, Ballervision, ChronicPainMan, and Ashylarry.... I'll be waiting and watching! GLAD to be back at home DPR. Did you all happen to catch it on Saturday Night Live when SR got shut down they actually mentioned it in the news segment? OK going away now... stay safe everyone =)

hi hi

being a fellow US domestic roxy vendor, i try to keep in contact with some of the other vendors i've known for many months. i havent heard from modziw or ballervision in awhile. rxking i havent heard from since SR fell, assuming he is staying in stealth and only dealing with existing customers off market.

while sheep was failing, i had messaged modziw and backbone to see where most people were moving. backbone is here, but i never heard back from modziw. hope he's ok and didnt take too big of a loss.

i dont recognize your name however. guess you never ordered from me

best of luck

You new people are so ungrateful. DPR is attempting to optimize the site so that BMR and Sheep refugees have a place to go and you attempt to belittle him? I have not seen one of you show any appreciation. If I was DPR, I would close registration.

I just hope this does not prove to be SR2's undoing.  I think that the safety of the site and its users should be paramount. If that means capping the site at the maximum number of users that can be safely handled, then so be it. TInkering with the basic infrastructure in an attempt to increase capacity could be disastrous.  I know there's an old saying that goes, "Don't leave any money on the table." but in this particular case, it might just be wise to do so.

Security is a bit like religion... some things have to be taken on faith.
Where security differs from religion is that security is NOT retroactive.
Unlike Christianity, where you can come to Jesus, be 'saved' and have all
your sins washed away, with security you can adopt Tails or PGP, and be
secure from that point forward, but rest assured that your previous sins
(security failings) WILL come back to haunt you and bite you in the ass.
The original DPR is the poster child for that, right now.

Hi there!
As a new user to the whole tor underworld, i've spend the past two months, trying to wrap my mind around all this new shit.
I first found about SR2 when i read in some news article about a big bitcoin scandal and curiosity took over from there, as it is in my nature. I must have been reading blogs, wiki articles and forum posts for about 5 hours that day, getting a headache from all this new information, but still couldnt stop. It seemed so dreamy, a utopia even, like stumbling upon an oasis, after endless wander in hot sandy hills and torturous thirst.

I was so tired of the conventional way to get weed. Running around from place to place, wasting gas, having to deal with sketchy dealers gangs even, getting robbed or fearing of being robbed and trying to decide whether to fight and risk your well-being for 10 or 20 euros or just let it happen like a bitch. And for what? Shitty weed, decent at best. Or in the rarest of occasions, some bud that would remind me kind of, the taste or smell of those epic amsterdam moments i had the privilege of experiencing twice.

And now all i have to do to get some premium homegrown buds or hash is to buy some bitcoins, find a trusted seller, order and receive the package in the mail?
Sign me the FUCK up!

If it wasnt for the ridiculous complexion of bitcoin that im still trying to figure out(wallet adresses? offline wallet on seperate OS? transfering between wallets? miners?[dafuq] washing your bitcoin/ tumblers/ bitcoin fog? actually buying the coins in a good price) i would have already jumped to orders and probably lost money. Im just now starting to understand how pgp works and actually trying to use it.
Feels like studying for an exam. An exam where every mistake could be your last.

So after registering to SR2 the day of its (re)release and to BlackMarketReloaded,  Sheep (which despite other posters saying the name didnt sit right whit them, i thought was a perfect match in another sense, like we were all the black sheep of society) i started searching for vendors suited for me. Reading feedback, forums, paying great attention to detail. And i have to say
Sheep seemed as legit as SR2 and BMR. I was planning to buy from SR2 and sheep as soon as i figured the pgp and bitcoin thing and could afford to spend 40-50E on weed
So i was terribly shocked when i found about the whole 40mil "heist" (you've read enough about it, don't need me to say anything more)

Reality check was hard on me, this was no utopia.
It was a global expansion of my situation. A few good guys trying to get  some good shit, have a good time. Fast, easy, safely and with no or minimal losses. But every once in a while, things go terribly wrong.

Trusting someone now seems next to impossible. Vendors asking (understandably)  FE will make the distinction between legit guys and scammers even harder
And who's to say SR will be here in a month? Seems to me black markets are dropping like flies.

I just think all this new traffic will bring more dangers than good folk
Maybe a closed community is the key to making something like this work relatively safe.
Sorry for my rambling

Having a better host with a good server could be a start, and putting a limit on users...
Making it a gated community with invitation registration if it become too crowded.
ofcourse everybody who's registered now are good... but its just a thought  :P

I have trust that they're doing everything they possibly can, however, you do make a good point regarding closing registration and such.

I vote we should keep all current and loyal customers, and let the Sheep and BMR users (assuming they don't have active accounts on SR), wait until all server and system related issues are resolved.

It still looks to hit or miss. The forum seems to be running just fine, but the marketplace is still spotty for me at least.

Not really,
it is still down, i dont get why dont the admin keep it up while improving it on another machine, then apply the changes to the original website.
i guess its already functional and doesnt have major security threats.
if you are stupid enough to get caught, you deserve it.

DPR, backopy from BMR has a point in not being able to cloak traffic to his website without stiff competition that he can trust. Since he endorsed Sheep after the first Silk Road went down and Sheep robbed everyone of their money, he can't trust any other competition cause of the burden he carries. Only way this can all work out is if you can somehow you can work something out with BMR and help each other out with network flow. Other then that, you will see it'll be better off to disappear cause if you're the only market that is going to stay up, you're servers will definitely become a huge beacon in the network and lets just say... that it's not good thing.

Refresh is your friend  Prob not the smartest thing to do but I just put in some orders I was intended to before the site went down for "maintenance". Only use the site if you intend on ordering or moving your coins. Keep traffic easy for those who really need to use the site..**ahemm**my vendors**cough**  8)

Seems to be.  I am getting some errors. I assume it's just a bit of traffic.  So can we make deposits now?

The ‘open market’ concept, away from government supervision, has now taken a further blow: operators who turn out to be Scammers. The Sheep scam highlights a need - if the ‘open market’ is to survive - for operators to introduce full-proof security for the protection of Vendor and Buyer integrity and their deposits. To those behind Sheep the temptation to exploit the Bitcoin boom proved irresistible with the consequence of mistrust of the whole idea of an unsupervised market and to the delight of its detractors. At least BMR has stated its position and the reasons it is now in shutdown and has published its contingency plans. As stated in this forum and other forums by vendors/buyer refugees SR2 will now need to prove not only to those who may, or may not, be willing to persevere with ‘open market’ but to those within governments and the preserves of commercial interests who view the whole idea as illegal, subversive and not in the greater interests of the general public. It will now be the challenge for SR2 to prove to all that it can implement a full proof standard of operation to secure the trust and confidence of vendor/buyer, the media and general public alike. SR2 must not be hasty. It may take time for the full operation to be implemented but to those who support the idea this is by far preferable to a repeat of the Sheep experience or to any other future scammers who see easy money. As a postscript I should add that once SR2 is seen to succeed it may encourage the heirs of BM that competition in the open market concept is both health and vital for us all.

Backcopy is not a pussy at all
He can't manage such a traffic that's all
Since 2 weeks Bmr is very very slow
So I can't imagine how it will be in a week if every sheep user and vendor try to migrate there
The shutdown process is crystal clear

Obviously as a vendor it's a shame to loose in the same time 2 of the biggest and efficient merket place

Let's hope SR2 will be operational ASAP

I'm able to log on ok today. Took a couple of REFRESH'S but I'm on.  Vendors keep trying...  you should be able to get on and process peoples orders.

I hope BMR returns stronger and better than before.  I'm not liking this "only one marketplace" situation....

I don't know nuttin honey bout nuttin honey. So I try to keep my big fat thoughts to myself except those I can testify personally about. These 2 things I only learned today;

1. Sheep planned a scenario designed to wrongly take cash that was NOT theirs from its honest members and vendors! Approximately a week ago they just suspended any one there - buyers and vendors alike - of a simple process for anyone that wished to withdraw coins and send them where ever the fuck they felt like sending them.

This came without warning AND what few reasons for this suspension sudden decision made no sense at all! It sent red flags into the air in everyone’s minds but none of us wanted to say what that sick sinking feeling in the pits of our stomachs was. That saying what it was, would somehow make it all happen. I wrote Pm's to any and all of support and technical support asking and then demanding to allow me – us  all access to our bitcoins. Then finally asked for my vendor activation fee to be returned me from only 3 weeks before so I could take my vendor's account elsewhere.

When I returned this morning to try yet again to badger and cajole my funds from their quickly degenerating atmosphere  of thievery and quickly growing ‘bad feelings’ towards Sheep amongst everywhere there that everyone was feeling. According to everything I could read on Sheep - we weren't the only ones who were being denied any access to their Sheep-site wallets unless of course you wanted to spend your money there!

For those who don't know how Sheep worked, vendors were NOT allowed to buy from a vendor's account. Sheep was also denying withdraw to a 'buyers' account .... that was sort of a sinking feeling in the pit of one’s' stomach Something was very wrong! DON’T SAY IT THOUGH!  So I came back in around 8 AM to let them know that I knew they were preparing to split with everyone's bitcoins.

That was around 8:10 A.M., the snake had already escaped with the cash! Not even a very slick rip off. Just sort of grab the old ladies purse and run like some chicken shit punk – grab the purse and run with it  type of theft!  No class of any kind. Their  lack of integrity and absence of honor has tainted all future black market sites. It is fixable but only with a continued effort of each members  values can undue this ‘wrong’ done  by Sheep.

2. I had attempted for 2 months to buy my vendors license, if you will - with BMR. But they had this insane rule that a vendor needed to have 1 bitcoin in their wallet before being allowed to post items there for sale. To them it had to be an entire bitcoin whether it was worth a dime or a million dollars made no difference! We're just poor people and couldn't buy more than 1 bitcoin on my pay day - SSD on the first of each month. Its cost/value had no consideration for BMR. But those were their rules. So when our coin arrived to that vendor account turned up .00008 bitcoin shy of a full  bitcoin  - the processing charge Localbitcoins.net  charged to send BMR the coin, I was informed by BMR support that we needed to find another .00008 bitcoin before we would be allowed to post our 40 - 50 deluxe items.

When I figured maybe they would just let us pay the difference on our first sale I saw  just a day  before we’re going to offer to pay twice or thrice the .00008 bitcoin the first sale - I was shown a post in their forums by backopy that stated the reasons for having your vendor account scrubbed from the roster and being banned from the site to boot. Number 1 was to even suggest the very suggestion I was going to …. suggest making that very morning! Lol!

The first coin was paid for using Localbitcoins.com but it never arrived in our BMR wallet.

What could we do or say? There are  no safe place to save bitcoins. We've tried them all! We had 2 separate bit-chain wallets from over 2 years ago and sent each of them a bitcoin from our Mom n Pop Stuff vendor's account wallet. They never arrived. Bit-chain tried to blame it on the operator - us. We had to have entered the wrong sequence of numbers thus sending the coins to the wrong account. Only those wallets allow copy n paste of wallet information and ultimate directions eliminating operator error. Our vendor account history listed each coin sent to the correct address so ??  ???

We'd lost hundreds of dollars at prices then that were in our Mom n Pop Stuff wallet when SR fell. Being the spoiled Silk Road vendor-brats we were from over 2 years as partners/vendors on this most awesome web-site we'd stumbled across in our lives! We made this discovery of The Road by lurking in the chat rooms of drug oriented websites until some guy just sent us a link - no message.  Just an address. When we got hooked up with SR we soon figured that we couldn’t afford to buy anything there and decided maybe SR could use our never down, always upbeat attitudes and we could add to an already cool theme by simply becoming  vendors!!

Besides BMR's bizarre pegging the bitcoin to the bitcoin instead of the USD like the rest of the world does - that's what made getting up and running there next to impossible.  We gave up when they wouldn’t allow our medical supply store to open for being .00008 bitcoin shy of a full bitcoin. Sheep pegged their  activation fees to become a vendor  on the USD – 2 C notes and in just 2 hours we were open for business with 30 items posted with before the sun set the same day we decided to give up on BMR and actually give the dough to someone that wanted it! That day it equaled .8 bitcoin. Of course Sheep people are slimy thieves. At least backopy with BMR seems to be honest about getting everyone to leave the party with their wallets intact and is waiting for everyone to finalize and leave a clean field unlike that slash and run tactics of Sheep’s departing!

You know, I had a point to make here and have totally lost my drift. Good thing no one is reading this, eh?

When we did start a store here we were required to pay $140 for the right to sell things on The Road. It was not titled a bond so we never were offered the money back. It seems unfair that we are being asked now to pay $200 dollars to re-open our vendor account. We did nothing wrong and maintained 100% positive feedback. Zero undelivered packages and made a lot of friend while adding our funky sort of  positive energy  to the phenomenal energies already stewing here  on The Road’s  awesomeness of its own! We do feel it is wrong of management here to even think of charging us to open the store again where past customers followed us to Sheep and have stayed in touch requesting our products here! It seems a bit greedy, don’t you tinks Babba Louie?

These are the things we know to be fact. Tale it as you wish – shrug? There is a lot of mean words in this thread that are not constructive at all – just mean!  Y'all need to take a big CHILL PILL - some of yaz anyway. Stop stressing on this re-opening of SR 2 and how about imputing some positivity! Man up and stop being bitchy towards anyone or one another! Y’all sound like they just need to sweep up the broken pieces of 1 and anyone can do that! Right?

Wrong!

Or just go to bed!

You ever had to wonder what that sound is/was outside your home last night? And each time you hear something wondering, is this the moment the door is going to EXPLODE inwards from a battering ram and a team of SWAT or some other insane governmental gorilla force hyped up on the thrill of killing your junky ass?

Try it sometime and you'll keep your mouth shut about calling people names for not sleeping right for over 2 years and needing to change directions for their mental health. How about their kids - families? Ask D how it felt. I'll bet he'll never forget that feeling! The problem here seems to be that none of ya are experienced in a real one on one relationship with the capacity for extreme cruelty by the man.

Im a software enginer of the wrong type (applications, Mac, iOS, embedded DSP development), but in idea occurred to me - keep we pages dirt dirt dirt simple like html4/sql days and PGP around all the graphics

it raises the bar to entry while keeping web utilitzation to a minum

even if this can't work - think out of this box

All bitcoin transfers from one wallet to another wallet address are kept in a publicly assessable record called the blockchain you can use it by going here

https://www.blockchain.info/address/***enter address you sent to here***

It will tell you all you need to know and where your coins are right now.

If you check the txid on blockchain you will notice that your account shows one confirmation on the transaction, please be patient - the system is under extreme load. Three confirmations are required before your balance updates.

To follow up on this, I haven't tried sending money to SR since last Friday, but I was able to successfully send money from SR to my Blockchain account just now with no issues.

Regarding your issue, you might want to wait a few more since the system is most likely under some heavy load.

hi hi

@anabri:
backopy has been posting saying the site is majorly overloaded and withdrawals are delayed.  i'm still waiting for a withdrawal of some coins from early yesterday, still nothing on the blockchain. so you're not alone!

hopefully he's still as truthful as always and it really is overloaded. i personally am leaning towards this being the case. if he was going to scam everyone and not return the coins, he'd have NOT disabled deposits. actions speak louder than words.

This should have been pretty obvious to those of us on Sheep who had their accounts suddenly revoked with strange and bizarre responses from support.

Synergy warned everyone here that Sheep was compromised (or at least was about to be). I lost $70(US). Chump change compared to most others.

This truly is the Wild West.

TY all of you! =) All is fine-the deposit has made it over whew... I was just worried that maybe something wasn't completed or there was a glitch or what not but it's all good now. TY TY TY for all of your advice and input. I am relieved and now a little wiser with the blockchain advice! =)

hi hi
glad your coins are safe!

my experience with the withdrawals from BMR is that they are delayed approximately 1 day from when you request. few hours ago i received a withdrawal that i submitted early yesterday afternoon to put it in perspective for anyone else who's wondering

I think it totally sucks that I have not been able to access my account funds due to some sort of problem that is above my pay grade. Its been annoying as hell, but I stand with you DPR, thank you for keeping something this important going. We are a community and we are only as strong as our weakest link. I hope these assholes robbing people-its people like that-that take and take and still rob you blind while they buy you a drink. Thank you DPR and company I can't even imagine how hard it is to do what it is you do.  Much love and stay safe- Fuck LE, you knock us down, we come back stronger.

Can anyone access the SR 2.0 Market? I have been trying for hours now and am getting a "unable to connect" response. Is this just a matter of too much traffic or is the site down for upgrades?

I've been on a few times today and made a few orders and everything went smooth. Didn't encounter any errors like you're describing. Maybe it's on your end? I dunno too much about that kind of thing though.

You new people are so ungrateful. DPR is attempting to optimize the site so that BMR and Sheep refugees have a place to go and you attempt to belittle him? I have not seen one of you show any appreciation. If I was DPR, I would close registration.

Not that anybody really cares what I have to say, but I've been pretty impressed with the way things are being run.  For whatever that's worth, there it is.

I was gone over the Holiday weekend when shit went to hell. Well Sheep was rumored to be heading there for some time.

I come back here to find the market fuckin' improved!

Specifically Cannabis Listings and my personal favorite, vendor ratings!

I don't know what kind of luck led me to SR 1.0 but I'm thankful.

So thanks again!

Thanks DPR, you are quite literally the man. Is there any way the average SR user can help? I personally have rented out 3 dedicated servers(all I can currently afford) to be run as Tor relays, hopefully increasing the overall bandwidth - at the very least - of the Tor network. Would love to donate some money as well, but I know you've turned funding down in the past. You're doing great work for the people, and I think I speak for a great number of people when I say that we really appreciated all that you're doing.

Please do not let SR 2.0 fall like it's predecessor and it's competitors; it could be the nail in the coffin for any kind of organized digital black market.

Keep fighting for the people!

If he had one he'd give one. It could be minutes, hours, days or weeks. Be prepared. You never know.

My guestimate after almost 2 years on here, is anywhere from less than an hour, to 24 hours.

You shoulda been here in November of 2012~! - Anyone else remember that big one? That was a good week with NO WORD!

I don't think this will be like that. They had a little bit of notice, what with SMP going down, and BMR's odd timing of things.

Ah my conspiracy theories abound, but lets' stay grounded! - Hey at least we have the forums! - I remember when the FORUMS went down!!!

Thank you DPR and Crew for all the updates and hard work. I am glad to hear you guys are taking a little break, not that i wont miss the market, but You All Deserve this time to be with friends and family. I hope you guys have the best Christmas Ever. We will be here when you get back and we know you all have done so much for us, and to be honest i really do no have even an inkling of an idea on how to Show our Undying Gratitude. I would like to help to maybe someone can start a thread and explain how us buyers can help, beside just ordering. There are many of us out here who would be more than willing to lend a hand, i am no computer genius, but i, we can do other things to help, Please just let us know how we can help the site and the forums. I have been wondering if we should let others know about Tor and the other markets, but i always follow the first two rules about fight club. So what i read about more Tor users being better for everybody, would you all say that is True? Or should i continue to keep my secrets about Tor and the markets to myself? I am willing to rent server space if someone can tell us how to do this, i do not have alot of money, but without this site and others like it we are all doomed to be Big Brother Slaves. Sorry if this was not the right place to put this all,

tell all your friends to wait for me to start my vendor account, and then get online to create more TOR nodes and then for them to come be my customers once I am permitted to vend  ;).  Just one answer to your question  :P

Check you are receiving a PHPSESSID cookie from /login and keeping it. You will get that message when you access any non /login URI without one by the looks of it.

i'm happy to wait. at least we can expect things exactly like DPR stated. been up and down for a while.

there's no trust for me anymore to sell elsewhere. i'd stick here. hope you are here for a long run and don't quit like a pussy like backopy :)

all respect.

Trust me

So perfect! I personally DO know that feeling and I don't blame Black at ALL for wanting to implement a change in his life. At least hes letting people get their coin. I do wish it was easier for a low budget vendor with legit goods to get started..

It was the SHEEP admins, they planned it from day 1 they refused to work with any of the other market admins for just that reason, and its the same people behind TORMARKET, thats going to be another scam in a few months. Be careful of the market you trust your sensitive information and bitcoins with

I agree about Sheep. I knew they would pull a scam when this place was up. They couldn't have competed and none of them spoke english or even made sense, it was annoying as hell.

Backopy was unlucky I think though, he seemed genuine from the start. I liked him but hated BMR, just the look and lay out pissed me off.

I'm a SR loyal!!!!

How long you been trying Jack? I've not been able to get on for like 2 and a half hours, not fussed really just wanted to browse but would like it to be back up for everyone before the tin foil enthusiasts crawl out there tin foil shelters, it's only a matter of time now lol

Sheep had more business than any of these marketplaces including new SR and BMR combined before they pulled this scam.  I believe that user did scam Sheep by withdrawing bitcoins that were never deposited just like on BMR and it set the Sheep owner (who is probably predisposed to being an asshole) over the edge and he decided fuck it and just ran off with the bitcoins.  It is pretty obvious that it was not planned as they could have done a MUCH larger heist or continued to operate and made more than they scammed in a mere couple of months more of operating legitimately.  I say the Sheep owner got scammed due to his poor code, got upset and decided to retire with our bitcoins.  The dates of the events all match up and you can see the withdraws in the blockchain.

I don't even know really.  Time flies when I'm working.  About five or six hours I would say.

Maybe so.. we will never know I guess. At least Backopy is going to reimburse people lost out, that restores my faith in blackmarkets and humanities greed.

You lose much on Sheep? I remember you saying you lost the most of everyone with the silk road seizure due to having a couple of accounts.

Not much.  Only about $50,000 USD worth of BTC.  Yes I had a whole lot in escrow on SR and I stupidly felt like it was safe for me to temporarily keep over a million dollars worth of BTC on there so I could make one large withdraw. :(  I keep everything I can on my local wallets now.

I finally managed to get on too but anytime I click something I just get an error sent to the captain.  The captain must have a list of millions upon millions of errors.  Too much for any human to possibly go through.  I wish I got a dollar for every error that was sent to the captain! :D

50K I could deal with. I lost about 60 odd in the SR seizure plus a good bit of product, but a million dollars? I'd be jumping off to tallest building I could find immediatly lol

It was a lot more than a million US dollars worth of BTC but there are much more important things in this world than currency...  Like freedom. :)

Over a million worth was my fault for keeping it in the accounts BUT the rest of it escrow so I had no control over it. :(

ouch!!!  A mill is a big hit but you are right freedom is more valuable!  I hope if you lost that much that it was profit and not your startup $.  If it was just profit you can always make more of that but you can't get back time!  Freedom and the need for a free market will keep vendors and buyers happy for some time to come; this the beginning not the end!

Do you expect updates every minute?  Allow someone to use the restroom and run the site once in a while...it seems like there needs to be a fake DPR that just posts online constantly easing the worries of every bloke with $40 Euros or $60 bux tied up. People need to chill the heck out.

Haha good call. 40 euro or 60 dollar buyers pretty much sum up the bunch sqwauking right now. Chill out folks. There are vendors with thousands tied up right now who don't have an ounce of paranoia. Ride it out people geeze.

I apologize brother but facts were few and far between even for me. Pretty soon after I lost connectivity to the road and the boards all together. We know this it was a ddos attack it was done by hackers unknown atm who requested 5,000 dollars a very low ransom which make its even more strange. It was well organized, planned  and when bob wouldn't pay the ransom soon after it began on a mod or admin email inside the server.

Bob has offered 5000 dollars reward leading to information leading to the arrest and prosecution of these hackers.

Be careful with accusations, people benefit from wars like this, and a vendor could see financial reward from this sort of behaviour
For example, the government organizations that benefit from the high prices prohibition laws create

Just my 2c, not trying to sound paranoid either but there are a range of reasons why someone would want to attack a site like this
A fine example, in Australia our prices of methamphetamine/cocaine are 700+, the sheep marketplace gave easy access to these products for $100 per gram, now the average price is $150, there is money to be made here

What would be great, but is impossible, would be a mass text or email when there is an all clear. I know, obviously both of those avenues have incriminating elements to them, BUT, it still would be nice to have the call. The text/email would have similar internal emotional responses like that of finding a hidden stash you forgot about, or finding that $87 you left in your coat pocket from that party you went to last year, or Publishers Clearing House knocking on your door with a big fat check for a million dollars... Well that last one may be stretching it a bit, but none-the-less you get my point.
I wonder wonder wonder wonder who....

Any one got from Frank lately?
Hoping SR resurrects & comes back to what it was at-least. For all we know Ross had been jailed for our sins (old age) or deviant behavior (new age).

Any one got from Frank lately?

I normally receive my orders from Frank in 4-5 days, so when 2 weeks passed I thought he had scammed me, then low and behold 18 days later it showed up..  The printout had the correct date on it (the day after I placed the order) so it was just the post.  I guess ordering overseas in December can take more than triple the normal shipping time.  I also noticed that the negative feedback he received on BMR was changed, so I'm guessing those people also got their orders really late and had initially thought they were scammed.
