I don't like the no feedback thing either. I ordered from someone who appeared to be legit, but am starting to worry I walked into a scam. with neither of us having feedback, I don't know what the outcome will be if it goes into dispute

What kind of scams are you guys talking about?

At this point, more than 2 disputes at a time with a vendor would likely throw up red flags for administrators.
Besides, if people are following the rules and using the escrow system, what is the hesitation? Buying from an unknown or sketchy vendor is your own choice. If someone asks you to FE or they won't ship, you should contact an admin, because that has been explicitly prohibited for 30 transactions.

Do research. Contact beforehand. Don't spend more than you can lose.
You can be smarter than the scammers if you decide to be.

Yeah just do not finalise until product comes. I think that there will be a lot of people who use SR that don't use the forums and I would worry that these people will be the scammers wet dream. They might just think that because they are new they need to finalise.

The problem with that is vendors attempting to obtain a good reputation and thus increase sales are not able to. Everyone has been set back to zero. This is one feature currently holding the SR back, in my opinion.

I would disagree to a certain extent...

Sure, the numerical values and ranking history are no longer next to vendor's names on their profiles.
However, buyers ultimately remember who they had good business with and will seek out those reputable vendors. Once verified, they are very likely to vouch and spread the word of legitimacy.

Feedback isn't the problem at this point. It's just patience and diligence. Assuming the site continues to run, I'm sure the feedback, rankings, and reputation of the top vendors will be restored as it should be. Just takes time.

Question:

What if feedback was never implemented at all?

1.) Buyers would be FORCED to do research on their vendors beforehand and establish legitimacy, unless they don't care about losing their money.

2.) LE would have to do just as much research to figure out which vendors are the "top" vendors rather than just sorting them by rank, and compiling a list as was possible in the first iteration of SR.

Of course, the benefits of the feedback system outweigh the drawbacks, but for right now this is what we have to work with....and really, it's not all bad.

Feedback has been initially disabled to prevent vendors trying to create a large volume of fake sales to get ahead of their competitors and prevent FE scams early on since everyone is on the same level. The feedback system is very close to being enabled however now everyone has had time to establish contacts. Everyone who has already made an order, open or finalized will also be allowed to leave feedback for those purchases too.

Thanks DPR. I have already completed a purchase with an awesome vendor and want to make sure he gets the credit he deserves. That sort of thing is meant to drive sales.

Many vendors are going by different names for very good reason. Everyone is back to zero. Even if some buyers know those new usernames, they wont vouch for them as it could comprise their identity.

1. This would never happen as the vendor would be reported and blocked.
2. Better to scam a few people than fake feedback pretending you have done hundreds of transactions already, encouraging people to buy from you, and thenn you scam 100 in 1 day!

All the big scams were FEs. It was as much fault (if not more) of the buyer then the vendor. If people just don't FE then there will be no big scaming, only small intermittent ones. Not hard.

It's only just opened, you really need to give it a chance. I've made an order and am currently waiting for it to arrive, all seems well at the minute :)
Think about this; the DEA/LE have just had one of the biggest drug busts in history, siezing £millions worth of bitcoins, and within a month everything is back to normal.
It just shows the resilience of our community, I've only recently joined but love it already!

Oh please do not misunderstand us here. We are all happy to see DPR at the helm of a new road. This just happens to be a feature that was integral to the functionality of the old one that we would love to see have a comeback.
