Where in the world is SR pulling their exchange rate from?

At the time of this post the price on SR is: 1 BTC ~= $380.91

So where are they getting a price that is below every other exchange? Or is it a problem dealing with frequency of updating?

It might be an average over the last so many minutes/hours to keep it a little more stable than the instantaneous rate (just guessing).

The method we use to grab the exchange rate has been updated and we have also modified our formula.

Prices just seem to have updated as DRP states.
Can you shed any light on how you are weighting the rate?
Is it exchage volume weighted?

The market price appears to be pretty close to Bitcoinaverage.com. I think they are a little bit high yet, Blockchain.info is a little bit closer to reality. As long as we know what the market rate is, it doesn't much matter. Vendors calculate their price in fiat, and divide it by the market price, so either way, the price ultimately paid is correct. Or at least that's the way it should be done to keep it fair to both buyer, and seller, IMHO.

Current markets and Blockchain.info at time of posting:

Go to: http://silkroad6ownowfk.onion/users/YourSRusername/edit (or click settings) and change BTC to your preferred currency and hit "Update User" then refresh, it should change what's down there.

That's a great question the last DPR had a formula which I could never decipher - it's at 411 now on SR and that appears high - I guess that a question for the mods or SR Support to address

It should be a pinned topic when answered as - the old SR Wiki appears to be no longer
