This will come as somewhat a disappointment to many of you, but I believe it is necessary if we are to be secure from the start. We are currently considering adding hours to the launch time to allow us to continue fixing bugs and patching security holes that have been uncovered. In addition, it is likely we will disable the bitcoin process on launch until we can gauge the traffic more accurately - this is to protect your bitcoins as high traffic sites and bitcoin processes do not work well over Tor.

I will try to keep you updated, but launch time will probably not be 4:20PM UTC I am afraid.

My apologies Eileen, but I'm sure it's understandable given what we are doing. We had an enormous traffic spike between 3:55 and 4:30 which has really pushed the server so launch will be interesting as we are firing up another 3 to cope.

Ok all - second disappointment but we as administrators feel it is necessary to prevent chaos upon launch. The confirmed time is now 4:20pm tomorrow (Nov 6), there will be no more delays from there. We have the ability to launch now but if we are going to make a delay, I think we need to brush up more to make the wait worthwhile instead of disabling some features upon launch after delaying it. As said there will be no more delays from here, so you can set timers to auto-publish articles if you wish.

It's due to server load, might take a few tries and we have some dodgy password bug which we have no idea what is causing it yet so we will try get it sorted soon. You're pretty easy to verify to just use random accounts for now and if you can't get on still when traffic has calmed I'll reset your password.

Overall, launch is going well and Twitter is on fire.
