The calm before the storm

I will be making an announcement in the next few days which I have no doubt will echo around the world media and I feel as the new Dread Pirate Roberts, this will be the last time I can communicate with everyone from the old community alone to reflect on the bad times we have faced and the challenges we have overcome to get here.

We have lost some of our comrades and we lost our old market - this is saddening news but it is also something we now cannot change. As a community we have to mark where we will leave the weights of the past behind and now is the time to move on so we can focus on the bright future ahead of us. We've had difficult times in the past, but then we will also have difficult times in the future. This isn't the end of our struggle, and I can hope we can all carry on fighting with the same vigor, courage and dedication as we have these past few weeks.

You have all been very kind and patient to me in my first few weeks in this new role - for this I cannot thank you all enough. There have been times already when I have wanted to quit and hand over the keys to the first person I seen, but I only need to look at the many shining examples of characters here to keep me going with all the support we have had. This is in my opinion the hardest job in the world - but looking back at what we've already overcome now gives me strength, not grief. Somebody come and torn away our home, but like the faithful people we are, we are now standing our ground to rebuild it again not to be put down just because we were knocked back.

I cannot say how long I will be around. I do not know if law enforcement have some kind of secret methods of attack which will find me tomorrow. But I do know I will fight this to the end, whatever the cost may be. When you join Silk Road, I like many of you dreamed about being the Dread Pirate Roberts thinking it would be great for how many bitcoin you can earn and you don't have to do much except sit behind a computer. As time went on though, I realized the money isn't what you're in it for - I have actually made a substantial loss so far getting this up and running and I intend to place most of the revenues of the site into investments for our future. I think when you look past the money aspect, that is where the true wealth is, knowing you have stood for something you believed in and that even if it is your downfall, you were not afraid to defend to the death everything you have come to love.

If/when I do fall and probably locked away for the rest of my life, do not think of me please, I am just a single person proud to do this - I would ask you all to remember the idea which has driven this community forward through what was almost the destruction of our friendships. Dread Pirate Roberts is now immortal and if you devote yourself to that ideal, and our enemies cannot stop it, then the idea becomes something else entirely.

They may have sunk one ship, but now they have awoken the kraken.

I look forward to speaking to you all with my next big announcement and godspeed to everyone in the quiet before the storm, for we will rise again.

I think the one thing the wars on drugs, communism and terrorism my country has waged has proven one thing that will lead to our ultimate success.

You cannot wage war against an ideology and win. Silk Road is the first succesful underground drug community because we believe in our freedom of choice. Thank you Cap'n for taking the helm.

Considering what you are about to do I can understand what you might be feeling. You are on that point of no return. You can go now but once you start, there is no return.

Also considering the dream of the market, the ideas, the voices of reason, and the people involved, I am not sure I could leave myself.

I personally wanted to thank you and the rest of the team, especially for those that cannot be here but wish to. Many people want to be a part of this.

I've followed advice by Libertas and other mods from the old forum. Directed people to BMR to order, none of them were scammed or busted.

I feel rather proud that I can do such things for somebody. I'm proud of the dream. The dream is what you are part of, a dream you and other people made a reality.

Anonie.

Well said Master Roberts.  You have our full support, as always.

Well spoken DPR!

The worst thing USA could have done in the war against drugs was creating the ARPA-net eventually leading to the creation of the beautiful and diverse Internet we have today. Thank you, US military.

The quiet before the storm. We have land in sight and a destination getting closer. Excitement is slowly starting to build. The anticipation of reaching an unknown world ahead full of mystery and discovery. The hope of finding a new place to call home and for it to provide the freedom and opportunities that were lost when our last place was taken away from us. We are not convicts or slaves. We are free and the world and all its resources are there for us to make the most of and use. We must defend our new home from the barbarians and invaders that wish to take away our freedom. We must keep this new home safe and protected. And we must protect our captain who lead us here.
Long live the Silkroad.

Good luck Team SR 2.0.  I believe everyone here would like to see this project succeed.

It will be very interesting to see how much the launch of SR 2.0 is picked up by the mainstream media.  Will it make 'waves' or merely 'ripples'.....?

Remember, Dread Pirate Roberts is only a pseudonym, passed from leader to leader. What you should focus on most is not when they'll catch you, but rather when you should pass on the torch to the next leader.

To quote, yet again, the Princess Bride,"Roberts had grown so rich, he wanted to retire. He took me to his cabin and he told me his secret. 'I am not the Dread Pirate Roberts' he said. 'My name is Ryan; I inherited the ship from the previous Dread Pirate Roberts, just as you will inherit it from me. The man I inherited it from is not the real Dread Pirate Roberts either. His name was Cummerbund. The real Roberts has been retired 15 years and living like a king in Patagonia.'"

Don't get caught. Grow rich, pass on the torch, and live like a king in a far away land. God speed good friend, you are far braver than most.

May I suggest - when the site is live, post the code. Maybe a tarball for anyone interested to check out and review, or perhaps a hosted git, so that we can all collaborate together.

Not just for security review, but so that when you set sail, either to retirement or something not as grand, the community doesn't need to recreate the wheel yet again and again and again...

You have my utmost respect DPR. You are truly an extremely brave soul and have been thus far an amazing new captain. What we have here will never die. This is a movement that will come and go, time and time again. This community is filled with amazing and beautiful people. A rebellion of many types of minds, many of the people here are far beyond the average intelligence, some even geniuses. A few a little crazy and unfortunately even some scammers and pervs. But the community as a whole, we are an army. Ready to take on whatever comes our way like any real soldier for their cause. We are all here by your side, through hell and high water. There will always be casualties in war, but what higher honor of falling out by then what you vehemently and always will stand for. We will win this war one day and enlighten the minds of the masses to our free market and ideals. I wish you the best captain and I thank you for looking into the future of our campaign, our WAR, then to collect as much money as you can and run. You are a rare breed DPR and I stand by your side. I hope one day you will get to pass on the torch, and pass it the right way and go live the dream on Island with cash by your sides and all the party favors you could ever want, when you've done all you can or the heat gets to hot. But if not, know your hard work will never be forgotten and it will always be alive and passed on through this community of warriors,  whether it's the way you've received the torch, or by passing it to whom you feel is next in line. But no matter what, the fire will not go out until we win and you will always be remembered. The flame of my vigor has been reignited by your words and we will stop at nothing. This community will forever live on!
Thank you DPR and all of the crew by your side for making what we stand for and what we love possible to continue. We have already left our mark, now we show them how strong we really are!
You are our Captain DPR! We are always by your side!!
DPR and The Silk Road will live on, we will never surrender!!!

Just one advice, what ever you do.. DO NOT LIVE in the infested usa. Parasites have infested all your connections and the cure is not out yet. Iam sure we can find a cure to merciless kill off this infestation sometime but right now you dont want to live in the us.

DPR, Please take the necessary precautions to avoid capture. I'm sure that you already are doing so. Sure there is Honor is martyring yourself for the cause, but there is also much to be said for being a Leader. Many of us here, I'm sure, don't have the knowledge or ability to Run this Ship. So Much gratitude is given to those who sacrifice themselves for the cause & to Lead our fight against the unjust War on Drugs.

DPR is the General or commander, We (Buyers & Vendors) are the soldiers, and those who know nothing of the Silk Road, I'd equate to Civilians. Obviously U.S./World Govts. are the 'Commies/Enemy', so to speak, lol.

I'm so excited to see this Calm Before the Storm Post. Some feeling came over me & said "Hey, maybe today's a good time to check up on the forums, see if there's anything new" haha & here I am to read this wonderful news :).

FBI May have won the Battle, but they will not Win this War Against the People!!

KNOW YOUR DOPE FIEND. YOUR LIFE MAY DEPEND ON IT!
You will not be able to see his eyes because of the Tea-Shades, but his knuckles will be white from inner tension and his pants will be crusted with semen from constantly jacking off when he can't find a rape victim. He will stagger and babble when questioned. He will not respect your badge. The Dope Fiend fears nothing. He will attack, for no reason, with every weapon at his command-including yours. BEWARE. Any officer apprehending a suspected marijuana addict should use all necessary force immediately. One stitch in time (on him) will usually save nine on you. Good luck.
I regret to say that we of the FBI are powerless to act in cases of oral-genital intimacy, unless it has in some way obstructed interstate commerce.

Dumb post, "DPR"

Nobody wants to hear how we should all praise you as a martyr if you get arrested. How about instilling some confidence in us, like "We have fixed the security issue that led to the original DPRs capture."  You are sure acting all high and mighty and up to this point when all you have done is set up a forum. When you are trying to sound philosophical please try and use proper grammar, this honestly reads like the person who wrote it does not speak English as their first language (even though I know you do). If you can't even use proper grammar how can we expect you to make sure every last detail of the site's code has been meticulously poured over.

Of course I'll eat my words when this SR marketplace hits the 1 year mark.

Quote
They may have sunk one ship, but now they have awoken the kraken.
I look forward to speaking to you all with my next big announcement and godspeed to everyone in the quiet before the storm, for we will rise again.

LOL. Ok, jack sparrow. Hire a PR guy please.

Well, I'm not worried about DPR using the correct grammar or not. After all he didn't study literature to become a coder.. I hope? :D

my theory is that there is more than one person posting from this DPR account. In some posts there seems to be a few grammatical errors, while other posts are flawless in nature.

Well I sure hope there is. I'd rather have a team of people working on this rather than just one :)

You would think the "flawless" DPR would have taken the lead on a post of this nature though.

Honestly, if you equate the SR as an organization with various people having different roles to play, I'd prefer the computer genius be working on the technical aspects and allow someone else to communicate on his behalf.

dont be dicks guys.. he is saying that we should praise him.. the media and LE are going to be in a frenzy trying to catch him. the media has made SR 10x more known of and the LE probably has something up their sleeves. I cant believe this kind of insubordinate is allowed. your an idiot if you think the cracked came from the pirates &t c.. his name is dread pirate roberts and he uses pirate like wording as a way to stay anonymous, not because he thinks he is a pirate.. and gramer.. who cares
To support the rebelution we will put aprox. 30% of proceeds towards new exit nodes and relays to make the tor network a safer place.

I hope? :D

I hope the server is grammar protected against Grammar FBI attacks.

Dread Pirate Roberts, the captain, the legend. He is no one man, but in fact a series, it is a title passed down from worthy successor to worthy recipient. On cannot kill a title nor the reputation along with this title. Whether it be this DPR or the next, or the tenth, there will always be a Dread Pirate Roberts and there will always be fear in the hearts of those who oppose him.
To be, or not to be: that is the question:
Whether 'tis nobler in the mind to suffer
The slings and arrows of outrageous fortune,
Or to take arms against a sea of troubles,
And by opposing end them?

Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

This is our slice of freedom and I am very VERY excited about what is about to happen. Many in this community know how corrupt and morally bereft our governments are. What we are doing here is taking the power from those who seek to oppress us and are keeping it for ourselves.

Yes we will run the gauntlet, yes we are at risk of severe punishment if we are caught but they cannot stop us all and the more we stand up against what we know to be wrong the more chance we have of effecting some real change against the fucked up systems of coercion and control that we are subjected too every single day of our lives.

I'm ready.

People should not be afraid of DPR, even if they oppose him. Part of Ross's downfall was the alleged hiring of a hitman. One of the key benefits to the Silk Road is that it takes violence of out the equation in the otherwise quite dangerous drug trade. Please don't insinuate that that the new captain at the helm would stoop to such lows.

I do not believe in a life ruled by fear. This community has given me a chance to connect with kindred souls, and I am grateful for that. I don't know how our Wikipedia page will read half a century from now, hell I don't even know if we'll be remembered. What I do know is that this project, its esteemed Captain, and all those of us who labor with our minds and our words to carry forth the torch of hope that is the Road act righteously, valiantly, and come what may can look back upon these times with pride. I, for one, will not forget what is accomplished here, regardless of the outcome.

Today on CNN they had a story about the DEEP WEB and how the government has been watching a site that is selling guns and weapons....they showed the BMR screen and as was suspected the selling of weapons only brings in the worst kind of attention (along with child porn).  I wonder how long BMR has before they get them...As I watched the report I thought "oh shit" just an FYI...

With parts of the US government hell-bent on gun-confiscation and overall disarming of the US, I expect the BMR is making itself a BIG target by continuing to allow the sale of weapons.   Perhaps this takes 'some' heat away from the new SR....  perhaps not.

Well i guess you just have to make your own decision. I was reading on the last forum and all the drama that was going on there
right after the bust and almost all the heavyweights was vouching for this DPR. I have a lot of trust for example in Libertas Stexo
that was vouching for this project!

But, you should never trust anybody but yourself so if you decide to conduct business in the upcoming market and make
adequate security precautions and act as every member of this forum (including DPR) where the police
what difference does it make?

I have a good feeling about this project and trust DPR integrity based on his posts here on the forum
but maybe i am naive! Anyways I play my life with risks because if you don't play you don't win

You do not need to trust me with your safety. Properly implemented cryptography works and if you use it to keep your address from anyone but your vendor reading and then not transmit any other personally identifiable information you are quite safe as a regular buyer. If you are a vendor or large buyer, there are other ways to further protect yourself too and I would encourage you to read up on the security advice given on this forum to ensure it is reliable information. If you are cautious and take measures to protect yourself, not even I could then place you at risk.

And this is the key thing to take away.

Assume DPR is a fed and assume that these forums and the new site is run by the feds. If you follow basic security procedures and do not place any identifiable information on SR then the greatest impact that can occur is that the feds close the site and take all of your coins (again).

El Presidente is happy to use the market places as we never put any information on to SR forums or servers which we would not give to the feds. Everything that needs to be protected from disclosure is encrypted and only the vendor can see that information and that is the only trust dependency here.

If SR is a big honeypot and you are properly encrypting data then the only thing you stand to loose is some money, not your liberty.

Well put, DPR.

And to the guy asking why we are trusting him so much - well, for me he already shows more reliability and actual interest in the cause than the last DPR. He's paying for shit up front before the market even opens to make sure his site is fully secure, offering money to hackers as bounties if they can hack the site.

I have a feeling this DPR will sil his ship for a long time.

I cant believe this kind of insubordinate is allowed.

Wow thats messed up. Insubordination? I get that admins have some level of power but dont talk about the rest of us users like were some sort of servants to the great gods that are the moderators, how dare we speak ill of them. Give me a break. If someone says something dumb they should be called out, mod/admin status or no.

Personally, I didnt like hear about how close DPR has come to quitting, and how much he thinks about all those funds in escrow he could steal. Yea, that gives me great comfort!

Granted he might be sitting there thinking about the awesome commission he thinks hes going to make. But be honest, he sounds like that little douche mdpr in that whole paragraph. I dont want the leader of my uber-illegal drug peddling website to sound like a little punk who used to get hard ons pretending to be DPR and drooling over BTC's....

… But be honest, he sounds like that little douche mdpr in that whole paragraph. …

Honesty, I noticed the word 'earn'. I also read the line in context with the rest of DPR's post, particularly the following sentences. If you heard differently then the corruption of his words would appear to have taken place within your own mind.

Say what you will, this post did not inspire my confidence in DPR. To me he sounds in way over his head, not mature enough to handle something like this.

Quit the drugs? Everyone here is obviously on some drug or another, and I'd be willing to bet mine are among the least mind altering. Im not geeked out DoD coming in here with conspiracy theories about how DPR is some guy in tampa florida.

I just think it all sounded beyond retarded.

It CRUSHES LE to their core to know they are finally on the losing end. All their unlimited budgets and technology cannot stop an idea.

They will never stop DPR, there is already a contingency in place for the next DPR to take the reigns for any imaginable scenario that could happen. DPR's true identity doesnt matter! I finally understand how the man behind the avatar is a non-issue. It doesnt even matter who LE chooses to go after. It just gives LE a rabbit to chase and something to tell their bosses they are 'working on'. But once they catch the IRL DPR, its not game over, its 'oh-no, there is a new captain this time with more advanced knowledge on how to remain safe."

The ship that set sale in 2011 will always be steered by DPR. The feds are terrified. We will never be captain-less.
To DPR, i think you are an even more loyal, noble, and well-versed leader than the last. Your posts give me hope and pause to reflect on all that has happened and how far we all have come, and how far we all will go, if we stick together.

To all, please, heed DPR's words. Learn PGP, practice PGP, PGP, then PGP some more.
Do not talk to cops, there is never a good enough reason to give them your consent or to answer any of their questions without counsel present. Do not rat! We win this war by not helping the enemy. Ratting on a friend, a partner or even competition is one way to slow the cause and in turn only hurt ourselves. Remember, you did the 'crime' and doing the time will inspire the idea that...

Yes-you can lock up one man, but an idea (the idea of freedom) has been ingrained in human consciousness since our beginnings and the desire to be free cannot be locked up!

DPR...you are a modern day William Wallace.

Now is the time to rally brothers and sisters!

Would you prefer the leader who had no sense of fear to bring him back to reality? I feel only a fool would get himself to this stage and not have anxieties as it is too easy to act as a fearless leader online when you don't fully appreciate the real implications of your actions. I am still human and I am not afraid to admit my concerns for the future because we now face challenge and uncertainty.

I like everyone feel great pride in this community and want to help drive it forward, but we must never forget just how real this all is. When you have no fear - then you have lost your awareness.

I like the show of your feelings sir it is nice since everything else is so robotic,
almost like the rave held in the matrix to remind themselves of how great humanity is no matter how much technology there is there will always be humans people get scared just by looking at sites like these let alone run them you sir are the stoutest of the stout a true weathered captain,

This

I feel we must appreciate the magnitude of this commitment, we talking some serious jail time and the fact DPR just made the fucking FBI to his main antagonist! Its not an easy situation to be in even for Bin fucking Ladin! If you don't understand a individual can have moments of
doubts about that fact and need to critically reflect about the situation you have engaged yourself in, is nothing less than arrogant.

This hits close to the chest for me. It's incredible moment in time to be able to be a part of this. But the powers that be want to stomp us out. So we have to do whatever it takes to avoid their boots.

Thank you. I was in the first 100 sellers on the old road. Very early on I felt the old DPR had become really self-important really fast, seeing himself like Che Guevara or something. It was unsettling. Just went through some of my old posts on my old SOS vendor entry and I was leery of SR in 2011 because of that. I NEVER had full trust in the site, but the one thing that the seizure has led to, that I never imagined, is how wonderful the forum is!

Thanks DPR, keep your humility, it's a very important trait for any leader to have. Don't believe what people say about you. Believe your wife, your closest friends, your family and children.

I understand the fear. Anyone who cares about him/herself or the life still ahead would feel some levels of anxiety. At the same time given the recent events over Black Flag run by that deranged meth head, one don't particularly want to imagine people cracking down under pressure. I do believe you and this team over here are all together from different cloth. I will still be one of those who will be coming on board very slowly as I prefer always to be very careful. But I can say I have a good feeling about this new site.

The pressure will only increase. Right now you have almost nothing to fear, LE is not going to come after you as long they already have one Dread Pirate on trial. Simple minds wouldn't understand what is going on, therefore it would give their case a twist in direction they don't want (I could put down a healthy bet for this). And if this Silk Road gets off the ground and flying, they are going to watch over it a while before closing down (if they are even able to do it with highlight now being on security).

In my opinion it would be better if DPR would not be just one person, because if this goes the path of passing down the torch, what if the site lands with someone who totally breaks down in stressful position and as last move hopes to at least take some coins with him/her. Better thing would be to have five persons with high moral values and each one would have a key, and to take the site down or make drastic changes, each one would need to be logged on and agree to it.

Have not been that active in these forums so I don't know if this is set on stone... Earlier there was talk of having the wallets out of site. I think this is a key in many ways. No-one could steal a whole lot from the inside, and in case of seizure LE wouldn't land on that much on site. Really wish this feature will be natural part of the new site.

Having said all that I wish you all the best in your quest. Remember we all go through many lives through our existence and on this one you are experiencing right now, you are entering a time where there will be storms and heaps of gold all over. I was happy to read that you see beyond the material benefits, this is a lot about also ideology (if one has beliefs).
You are not doing anything wrong, never lose site of this truth, it's the society which is crooked with strange rules which defy logic of any human being who is able to think freely.

There should be freedom on this earth for each of us to choose what we want to put through our bodies. As long as we don't violate another human being in any way, there should be no-one trying to tell us what we can and what we can't do ... If someone chooses drugs to shatter their life, it is still their choice, all others can do is try to help them out of the emotional hole they've fallen into. I believe though here is a lot of responsible users, who know their stuff, and are living a 'normal' life (hate the term normal, cause it so often is connected with state of stillness).

I truly hope this new Silk Road will flourish and if this gets taken down one day, it is just a stepping stone for new one to rise . . .

Good luck in this new endeavor. Like most here, I appreciate your commitment so far, and wish you a smooth transition.

Lets not forget though, theres now a great deal of hype surrounding this. Its difficult not to get swept away by that, but the proof is in the pudding, as they say. So until I see SR rise again - i'm reserving my enthusiasm.

. . .I feel as the new Dread Pirate Roberts. . .

-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----

There can be no "new DPR" as DPR is an individual, not an idea or an inspiration.
The original DPR was sloppy and reckless, we shouldn't idolize him, he is the  perfect example of what /not/ to do. He failed, because he was arrogant and careless. We don't need him back and we don't need a new version of him back, that's like shooting yourself in the foot, and then instead of learning that you shouldn't do that, you shoot your other foot and get angry when it hurts. Next you'll shoot yourself in the thigh, and so on.

Do not imitate a failure, unless you want to be like him, and fail.

++This.  Don't just talk about it, but do it.  In fact, several trusted persons should have the password/key to the DPR account.  It does increase risk to the site but it reduces risk to new DPR (the one and only today).

The challenge will be, how to find such people?  I won't speculate but I expect there is a reasonable way to do this.

This is literally one of the most ridiculous things I have ever seen in my life.
You, are fucking stupid.

Just talking about "passing down the torch" and such tells me you have absolutely no idea what you're talking about.
Ross Ulbright may or may not be the original DPR, but regardless of that he didn't pass down jack shit to anyone. This "new DPR" is just someone who decided to go ahead and try to play the part. No consent from the original DPR, no blessings, no handing town torches or passwords. If he did, this "new DPR" would have the original private key from DPR, but he doesn't.
It's even more important than in the real world to maintain your identity here, we can't have multiple people pretending to be one face and sharing PGP keys, that defeats the entire purpose and is just asking for drama/trouble/someone to squeal.

You have no idea what you're doing, you just logged on here and decided you knew enough.

You have no idea what you're doing, you just logged on here and decided you knew enough.

Dude you need to calm down. Maybe you had taken bit too much of something yesterday because you did not understand what I had written.

I never claimed some torch was passed. Ross has nothing to do with who is in charge with the new site. Ulbright is in prison far away with no internet connection.

If you read slowly the original post by DPR, you can see that he tells about anxiety his been experiencing since taking on the role of DPR. And he writes about having thoughts of handing the keys to someone else. So from here I took the possibility that things could evolve that way. Say year from now he don't want anymore to play the part, then there could indeed happen the passing of the torch.
I believe this time around it could be better that DPR would not be just one person. And if you give it some thought there is no need for sharing no PGP keys. I wrote about the symbolic key each would have to be able to make drastic changes, not PGP, and I admit that sentence of mine could have been easily understood wrongly. Naturally one needs to play the 'part', but it could be tight group behind DPR who together make all important decisions. This I admit would still not be easy, what if somehow a member of LE manages to infiltrate the group... there are risks of it's own in this idea, but if done right I'm sure it would be possible.
Probably this goes the path that man carries the weight alone, I just wish it don't get too heavy in time. It's a lonely place to be.

Ok going to flip the table on you MrHankey . Once you understand that the idea of Ross somehow passing the torch forward, happened inside your mind, maybe you can see it was in fact you who had no idea what you were doing. You were just making assumptions and typing away ...  Sometimes it's better to read things second time before writing off-the-wall stuff like you just did. Take a chill pill my friend .

If I have understood correctly... as long as you can prove you are mollyfan from SR your vendor bond is waived.

I'm sorry man have read about you taking considerate hit in that Project Meth Head madness also...   Sites need believers but do be careful in beginning, that PBF had weird feeling all over, this here is probably whole other deal ...

Thank you DPR and the SR crew for having perseverance and balls I know I could never have, I hope this market flourishes under you like the old one did under the former DPR.
I think this shows just how well knit the SR community is, that they could shut us down and take our leader, and we bounced back within (almost) the month.
Good luck to all the vendors and buyers too. Long live the road!

I will be making an announcement in the next few days which I have no doubt will echo around the world media and I feel as the new Dread Pirate Roberts, this will be the last time I can communicate with everyone from the old community alone to reflect on the bad times we have faced and the challenges we have overcome to get here.

Is it just me, or does someone else wonder why he called it an "announcement" and not "I will be opening a new market"
anymay, maybe I just do too much interpretation :D

Seriously dude, that posting brought forth a few tears.   You better be for real new DPR.  You better live up to the name.  Because if you are some shifty-ass scammer or piker you will have ripped apart a very beautiful and tender dream mine.

The dream that there are indeed great men, ready willing and able to step up to right the wrongs in our twisted society, no matter the price.

God bless you DPR, I hope the fuzz does make you walk the plank for the ultimate sacrifice.  And if you ain't truly worthy, then God dam you mother fucker and rot in hell!

Wishes,

just got chills reading the last few paragraphs.

Right on DPR you have taken the torch humbly and aggressively.  I truly hope we all stick around for a while and tomorrow marks a day in history for all of us here.

As you said we must remember there will be many new faces here.  I have talked to numerous people who now know about Silkroad and the ideas behind it solely because of the FBI shutting it down.... Their attempt to end us actually spread new seeds on freshly watered soil.

Welcome aboard DPR and "remember remember the fifth of November"

How do we know this is not just going to be another scam???

The answer to this question is quite simply, we don't know.

How do we know the original SR wasn't a clever 'long game' scam?  Loads of people (buyer and vendors) lost millions of $$$ worth of bitcoins.  Was this the result of a bust, or was it an elaborate scam?    We don't know 100%.  We may never know.

The same applies for Sheep, BMR and SR 2.0.  All you can do, is protect your personal information (with PGP), and only deal with vendors you feel are trustworthy...  and only send BTC to the marketplace when you're ready to make a purchase.  Do not leave coins in the marketplace.  If it goes down, you may never see them again.

This is the advice being given by the new DPR and his Mod / Admins.  They've been saying from the start, "Assume the new SR is compromised", and therefore take precautions to protect yourself.

Stay safe...  and roll on 4.20pm...

God speed sir.

exactly, just as MrP was saying, you can never be too cautious.  We live in a world of people just trying to take our money and run.  do your best to hold onto it.  Dont just fe for the first familiar name see, nor assume that they are really the people they say they are.  Encrypt everything!
