Dear all,

If you are here then I have already discussed some of the conditions of using information from this sector. It is your responsibility to use it wisely and to ensure nobody gains access to your account. The previous DPR was extremely cautious when dealing with any media or journalist because of bad past experiences so I hope as we build the road again, we can go forward on the right foot.

As a reminder of the conditions of being here - you must not under any circumstances divulge information until the proper moment which will usually be stated on the topic thread or be clearly implied - but if in doubt just ask. In addition, staff have been instructed not to discuss matters with the media for operational security and there will be no exception to this. Any communications you wish to use in a publication which are not already public on the forums must go through myself.

If you do post anything on Silk Road or related topics, please feel free to make a topic or reply here, or simply message it to me, I generally like to keep up with the news on Silk Road as our portrayal is quite important to us as you can imagine.

Any questions or thoughts, use it just like any other part of the forum and when I can I will try to reply - assume those replies are ok to be used in public unless otherwise stated.

DPR

So far those who have access to the press corner are:

Ozfreelancer - AllThingsVice(.com)
Ourreporter - VICE
Mike Power - Freelance/The Guardian/Drugs 2.0

A few more may be added over time but I don't want to inflate the area, too many will probably just result in everything being leaked too early. I know my predecessor wasn't very media-friendly, I hope to change that but of course I still need to stay in the shadows myself as to what my actual identity is.

Try the administrator forum ;)!

DPR,

I've been lending a hand with the Courier project--lots of PMs between Duke & I--and now I find myself with these new shiny green blocks. Thank you for granting me access to this section and for the opportunity to cover the new Silk Road intelligently and fairly, which a lot of the sensationalist media types don't seem interested in.

I have to get back to Duke regarding his latest undertaking, a "DPR saves Christmas" kind of thing; also, I'm going to go through the forum here, familiarize myself with what's going on, and make sure that I play by all of the applicable rules.

Thanks again ... and stay safe.

Be nice, Duke. Introduce yourself. Luke is new here--he came from a galaxy far, far away--and moving to a new place can be pretty tough--especially when you arrive during an earthquake that causes the entire town to fall into the ocean.

Well, thanks for allowing me inside (though perhaps not so graciously at first). I'm as anxious as you to learn the fate of your home. Has the captain abandoned ship?

No. Defcon made an announcement in the public forum. DPR is safe and Silk Road is closing as scheduled.

Gwern,

Good God ... they're just getting around to giving you your green blocks now? How is it that a lazy blowhard like myself got press credentials before you and DeepDotWeb? That poor bastard still doesn't have his, does he? He's about the closest thing to a real journalist here, which is to say that he reports the news in a timely fashion.

Well ... welcome to the club, such as it is. I think we have enough people to get a game of Hearts going. Nickel a point.

And those blocks? I've been stacking them in a pyramid and then knocking them over. It's fun for a while ... if you're drunk.

Ed - That has been rectified. I've just granted press access to DeepDotWeb.
I am no longer a member of staff. Please do not PM me regarding forum or market matters.

Haha Thanks Ed  so it was you who suggested this :)

I was actually refraining from asking for the journalist credentials till now from several reasons, but we will happily accept them since we got them anyway.

Just a short introduction about ourselves (posted an introduction thread here: http://silkroad5v7dywlc.onion/index.php?topic=14634.msg279958#msg279958):

Some of you may know our website and most of you probably not, it can be found here:

http://www.deepdotweb.com/

A bit about us:

- We are the "information gathering" team of DeepDotWeb.com

- We are not native English speakers so sorry about our English in our posts and articles (we have American writer working with us from time to time - but hes not quick and involved as we are, so most of the time we have to write our own material.)

- Our site is a hobby of ours, while our main business is how shall we calll it.... "internet assets".

- Our site was established as  a small "revenge" at our local authorities for busting our friend for buying drugs off SR1 - by making the information about the Darknet / Marketplaces more accessible to everyone and a bit more safe by reporting the problems, and doing this successfully and bringing the information to hundred of thousands of readers in just short 2 -3 months of existence. this was the best and perfectly legal revenge we could come up with.

- We are VERY familiar and experienced with the different communities we gather our information from and know SR for over 2 years.

- We are not in favor of one market on another,  the only thing we care about is the people behind the screens - buyers, sellers, admins, mods, everyone on every market (the honest ones, and the ones that do not wish to harm others by scamming or otherwise)

- We have helped some other journalists before and will happily do that again, so if you think we can help with anything, just let us know, we will NEVER request money or put any terms for our help. we will provide it for free we will be able to.

- We are always happy to publish stuff from our fellow journalists or any other people at our site (like the Raoul Duke article we have published for Christmas and few tutorials written by other people after getting their approval), and we have no problem paying writers for interesting content that our readers will like, no matter who you are.

- We are not to make money out of this! yes, we do have some ads on the site to pay for hosting costs and some occasional programming works, but the time, effort and money we are putting into this work costs us waaaaaayyyy more than we earn from this site, but we enjoy it so we do it!.  we make our living on other places.

Thanks, and hoping we will hear nothing but good news. Be safe.

Gwern,

I never asked, either. Duke mentioned it once or twice, but I told him that I was too big to play with green blocks. Apparently, DDW also didn't request them.

Well ... if I've learned anything in my 35 years, it's that something doesn't have to be on your Christmas list in order to get it. Santa knows. He always knows.

And fuck it. Playing with blocks is fun. I just keep the blinds pulled.
