WARNING: Administration Scam
« on: October 25, 2013, 07:48:46 am »
Not actual silk road admins but someone under the username 'ADMINISTRAION'.

Just said I could get early access to the site for vendor privillages if I sent them $50 in BTC.

Watch out people: Nobody, and I repeat nobody send any money until Libertas, DPR confirms its the real deal (which I believe it isn't.)

We have to have each other backs at a time like this.

The adim told me I needed to verify who I was by messaging him my password. I thought it was a strange request, but it was the Admin, so I thought, "Why not?"

Did I fuck up?

I got the same message (for an early access buyers account), but from a user called 'Staff' (http://silkroad5v7dywlc.onion/index.php?action=profile;u=2700). TBH I thought I'd be getting more of these sorts of scams, watch out people!

The only time you will ever be asked for your password is when someone is trying to scam you.

So yeah you fucked up.

The users concerned have been deleted and a mass message is being distributed about this. Anyone who has sent their password to any person at all should change it immediately. I apologize for this error and we are already looking into methods to combat spam in the future.

Just got this message from user named "Registration"

"The time has come to launch the new and improved Silk Road! It looks great and we have finally finished beta testing. The administration team thought it would be a cool idea to have the market be opened and reserved (for the first 10 days) to those who wish to donate our fearless former leader, the Dread Pirate Roberts’s legal defense. He’s facing what could potentially be life in prison, and if it wasn’t for him there would be no Silk Road. DPR is SR and SR is DPR, now and forever.

Here’s the plan - we have created a private BTC wallet that we will collect funds, and an early BTC enthusiast (who wishes to remain anonymous) will “donate” an amount of funds to the official Ross Ulbricht defense fund (https://www.rossulbricht.org). These funds are obviously legitimate as they will be coming from an old school bitcoin miner. We, the Silk Road Administration, will then give this donor the funds we collect. We are not publicizing this as it could not only harm Ross’s defense, but give the media and law enforcement a field day and they might quite possibly try to block donations from this legitimate donor. Please keep this as confidential as possible.

To those who wish to donate, you will be given the new Silk Road link as well as a special access code :)
For the first 10 days only those who donated will be given access to the site. After that, we open it to the public.

This site goes live Friday, October 25th at 6pm EST.

If you wish to donate and gain early access to the revamped Silk Road:

1)Send at least $50 worth of BTC (we urge you to be generous) to our collection wallet address : [REDACTED]

2) Respond to this message with the wallet address you used to donate so we can verify

3) You will be given the Silk Road link as well as your private access code (please do not share)

4) Starting Friday, October 25th at 6PM EST you will be able to create an account and login, make purchases, browse around, and feel right at home

The general public will NOT be given access till around November 5th as planned.

Since our forums are under heavy scrutiny, you may not discuss this publicly. This is in no way a requirement to join, and access to the site will always technically remain free for buyers. This is our way of
showing appreciation to those who wish to help Ross Ulbricht in his time of need.

Thank you and let’s show Ross he isn’t fighting this battle alone!

Sincerely,
Silk Road Administration"

Guys, this is not AIM, I didn't send my password to anybody. I was being sarcastic because the scenario I created is just as ridiculous to me as the scenario of an admin messaging people asking for money. I didn't realize nobody would get it. I think you are right tho, maybe this forum should come with an IQ test.

Weren't vendor accounts priced 10x higher than that? Not a very bright scammer.
