Remember, remember, the 5th of November,
Gunpowder, treason and plot.
I see no reason why Gunpowder Treason
Should ever be forgot.
It's Guy Fawkes night, a British tradition.
V for Vendetta was a critically acclaimed graphic novel many years before the movie release. As an avid Alan Moore fangirl, I find myself getting quite defensive over Anonymous's adoption of the V masks as well as the assumption that it's some random Hollywood creation that people have latched onto. Mostly because many of the protests Anonymous have been involved in since going 'mainstream' centre around the ideals of socialism, which doesn't play well with my libertarian and anarchist principles. V was an anarchist, not a socialist. But, I'm being picky.
As for the movie, don't get me wrong, I really like it, it just doesn't compare to the original graphic novel. Particularly considering the depths the novel explores that the movie skims over or alters. For those who did enjoy the movie, I thoroughly recommend reading both V for Vendetta and Watchmen, both are works of art. Now that I'm suitably disgruntled I'll go back to hibernating in my geek-den
Peace,

PS. I love the idea of the 5th as release day.
