free speech?
« on: October 08, 2013, 10:29:46 pm »
I wonder what is the stance of the new administration on free speech -even if it is derisory to them- on these pages?

Admittedly there are LEGITIMATE reasons for having a post or account deleted. I was told why my post was deleted and while I do not necessarily agree, I understand their point. Do you believe your account was unfairly deleted?

well, either we have free speech or we don't.  I am seeing the birth of a failed legacy here.  sad, as Ross would never have done this.

Wrong. What the original DPR did and created was great, but lets not step into hero worship territory and act like he was an infallible god who could make no mistake. Accounts and posts were frequently deleted by DPR and staff on the original forums, however they usually had a legitimate reason like I mentioned in my last post. Have you considered that you might have done something that made deleting your account justifiable? You haven't detailed what happened at all.

Free speech does not have to be all or nothing, and its not in any realistic situation. Freedom of speech is a continuum.

I caught your post in time Buttercup, and I was thinking the same.

Probably for the best that you edited it out though.

Not that interesting sevensix76... you didn't miss much. But yes, it is for the best I removed my post because at this uncertain time even opaquely worded posts about something someone else may have said, could be of interest to prying eyes!

The only accounts I have deleted so far are those attempting to imitate staff such as Silk Road, SR Staff, SR Support, Vendor Support etc. If it is other than these you are welcome to mail me and I will look into it with what limited logs we keep.

Freedom of speech does not mean anyone can say anything whenever they want to.  Some things are inappropriate to say.  Some places are inappropriate to speak.

Although anyone may join, this is a private forum with private rules.  The administrators enforce those rules for the benefit of the community.

Unless they're trying to be deceptive (like imitating an old SR user or spreading deliberate security misinfo) just let 'em speak. It'll only look worse for you if you try to stifle it. If they're massive twats they'll just end up with a huge number of people calling out their BS....
