All new users please be aware that if you choose to take the username of a person from the original Silk Road Forums, if they decide to come here and would like to have their username back and can prove their identity via a PGP signed message, I will remove your username to return it to them and ask you to pick another so please to do not imitate well known figures from the original forums.

Personally I dont think this is a good idea. Even though I was just a casual buyer on the old site, and never incriminated myself on the forum, I have decided to abandon my old nickname, and start totally fresh.

I dont think I have anything to worry about, but to quote some of the heros from the old forum: "No-one have ever regrettet being to secure, but a lot of people have regrettet not being secure enough".

In my oppinion it should only be the vendors, that should feel a need to keep their established alias'es.

Even if you feel like you are unimportant to LE, you would be a lot harder to profile, and track down, with a new username. In fact, I believe that if everyone changed their usernames, LE would basically have to start from scratch on their investigation of this site (they are probably already getting started)!

I choose a brand new username even though my last one was well known. It just seems prudent now that the old site (and presumably forum) was busted. Anonymity is all we got. Don't want no punk LE breathing down my back.

Fair point.

But if your forum username was/is different from the one used on the marketplace, and assuming you didn't engage in anything (unencrypted) on the old forum that could incriminate you in some way, then I think keeping the same name should be fine.

Yes I agree, if your marketplace and forum name were the same I'd recommend changing it up for this new site - BTW what are we calling the new site - SR2 ? SR Reloaded ?

Although I didn't post any relevant details about myself on either the old SR marketplace or SR forum, my username was the same on both. Except for my very first order (when I didn't know how to use PGP) , I always encrypted my shipping address.  My concern is that since the spotlight is on SR I don't want to make anything easy for anyone trying to connect any dots. Now just seems like a good time to break from the past.
