Silk Road Discussion / An update on the situation
« on: December 01, 2013, 03:22:45 pm »
*update- December 10, 2013, 02:32:05 am* - http://silkroad5v7dywlc.onion/index.php?topic=7450.msg116152#msg116152

Right now, I like many of you can feel the shock of recent events which are now compounding together. As Sheep has closed and Black Market Reloaded have announced they are also soon to shut down this has put strain on our team unlike anything we've seen before. Tor was not designed to handle services of this size and so this is a network problem, not a Silk Road problem.

We are working on a way around this right now but unfortunately the only way to obtain a realistic impression of how successful our changes will be is to place them into a live testing environment which is something we never usually do, but it is required in these circumstances. Over the next 24 hours there will be a lot of up and down with the market and I can assure you we are working on it so please be patient, these are challenging times for our community and requires us to reach into the unknown of this technology as we scale.

I will make another announcement when we have more news to share.

I sent 3.03 BTC not too long ago which means the current amount sent is approximately $3000.

The TorMarket URL has been filtered out due to it being spammed on the forums recently, this will remain indefinitely.

Silk Road Discussion / Re: New Vendor Registrations Temporarily Closed
« on: November 28, 2013, 04:11:52 pm »
I am getting around to responding mails - please be patient. Sending several of them is significantly slowing us down and as an estimate from our time tracking, I have already spent 4 days (96 hours) answering mails in the past 2 weeks. I am not ignoring anyone so if you haven't received a response yet, I simply haven't caught up to you yet.

Silk Road Discussion / New Vendor Registrations Partially opened *UPDATED*
« on: November 27, 2013, 09:35:01 am »
To allow staff to catch up with our work we have decided to close any new vendor applications. This measure will be in place for approximately 1 week and should give us time to push the major update we have been working on recently to get this place into working order.

Those currently in the process of being upgraded or paying their bond, you can continue as instructed in mail and old vendors can still verify with Sarge for the time being.

UPDATE: The delay has been extended for several more days to allow us to handle the Sheep/BMR influx. We will be introducing an automated system soon and the bond will be increasing too to an amount not yet decided at this time.

UPDATE:Sarge is taking manual verifications. Details here - http://silkroad5v7dywlc.onion/index.php?topic=9108.0

Downgrade your version of Tor and it should be fixed. I have a massive mail backlog which I have not yet been able to get through but this has been brought to my attention by staff and we are aware of the issue, but it is not something we are able to solve as it is a Tor issue.

Apologies for the lack of updates today, we have left the withdrawal system open today and kept purchases disabled as I understand keeping the money flow open for vendors to withdraw from is of a higher priority for vendors and will allow you to hedge it elsewhere in the event there are fluctuations. I will post back shortly.

I will be temporarily re-enabling withdrawals for those who need them and during that time of approximately 6 hours we will be disabling purchases. Note we cannot continue to fix this whilst the withdrawals are processing - but tinfoil is getting expensive as supplies across the world dry up.

Silk Road Discussion / NOTICE: Withdrawals Disabled Temporarily (FIXED)

Withdrawals have been temporarily disabled due to a potential bug being found and this is a precautionary measure. They should be back online later today.

We are in the process of fixing this, some unusual errors are occurring but we are working on it and it is likely we will peg the new rate to Bitstamp. Sales are actually very healthy, we've had almost 2,000 finalized sales already and many many more in transit.

Holy shit. You live here. It all makes sense. The original science alliance was here. Your strike.

You were the man that broke into my home the other day I caught on my camera....

You think I did all this for fun? You left me no choice. I forged and grew with my own hand, things your refused to allow me to sell on your market.

Let me know when they accept bitcoin somewhere for it.

There are several topics like this already, please use one of those. We are aware of the issue and addressing it, the update should be pushed in <~24 hours.
