Title: Official Policy on Services provided from Person to Person
Post by: Burning Babylon on August 18, 2013, 02:38 pm
I have some plans for the future where I intend to offer some minor "jobs" to Forum Users here on Silk Road which would entail things like researching specific concepts I've outlined in my forum threads. For a specific example on something I might ask help about is my thread Mail Systems around the World: http://dkn255hz262ypmii.onion/index.php?topic=172854

The payment would be made in BTC but seeing as these Persons will almost definitely not have any Vendor Accounts I would like to know the stance of Silk Road in terms of what rules apply in this regard if there are any. I've seen some examples in the Domestic Swedish Market where buyers have offered Graphical Services in return for BTC/Product, but this is a bit different as it's been conducted purely by the Silk Road messaging system. I suppose a follow up-question in that case would be is there any difference from asking this in the Forums or from a buyer on Silk Road?

I will pass this up for an admin to comment but I suspect that the normal rules would apply for the exchange of good and services on here in that a vendors account would be required.

this would be treated in the same way as exchange services.  no escrow, no listing price.  you just put a listing priced at zero in the services category.  Basically it is not supported because SR is not a job board, but you can still get around that with zero priced listings if you really want to.

I've been thinking a bit about this answer lately due to the fact I've been thinking about providing some Services to other Vendors and due to some thoughts I posted in the thread Upgraded Listing Options about Product Types: http://dkn255hz262ypmii.onion/index.php?topic=182090.msg1570912#msg1570912 ( one answer according to me would be to put Commission based on Product Categories as I described in this post, but I highly suspect this is currently not supported by Silk Road ).

The thing I'm semi-confused about is Services provided by Vendors to Customers gets treated normally, until the margins get so low it's not feasible to do it through a conventional listing - ie. Bitcoin Trade. Now let's say I hypothetically were to offer some services to other Vendors with very low margins, would I simply have to put it up as a conventional listing or would it be acceptable to put it up as a zero priced listing then? Basically the question is exactly where is the line drawn between a Bitcoin Trade and let's say for the sake of argument Graphical Work done by a person spanning one year? Is the line drawn based on Type of Service, Margin involved for the Service Provided or some other criteria which isn't listed by me? :)
