Lets talk about and share names and details of dickhead cops.
I'll start, Deputy [REDACTED] is a dickhead! This dickhead works in [REDACTED]
-
[REDACTED]
You better get LifeLock Mister Piggy! ;D
Very nice! How did you get his SSN?
-
Um, correct me if I'm missing something, but how is posting an LE agent's SSN, address, and phone number okay?
-

We can't posts cop's information? If we can't, let me know. I thought since they were cops...
I understand your point, but I would think this falls under the "do not post anyone's personal information!" rule ... still, I won't do anything until I've heard back from Libertas and/or SSBD about how they think it should be handled.

Dox attack!

I'll just delete it if you want. It's no big deal to me. I personally hate law enforcement and see nothing wrong with it. It doesn't affect the users or anyone here. It might affect a couple piggies though. I doubt many people here would want to mail or call a cop anyways lol. Just let me know if you want it deleted Scout.
-
FUCK THE POLICE!!!!!!!!!!!! KEEP IT POSTED AND POST MORE!!!!
-
they are out to get us....lets not make it personal with them. They might work harder.... as of right now I feel pretty confident with SR cause DPR does not allow dangerous stuff like weapons or CP. Which is great, it keeps a little heat off us(for things we believe is our right to put in our body) but calling out individual LEO....might just attract more attention.
no offense to your post
-
FUCK THE POLICE!!!!!!!!!!!! KEEP IT POSTED AND POST MORE!!!!
While I do agree with your opinion on the matter, I am going to hold off on your request under I get word from Scout.

Still waiting to hear back from Libertas or SSBD on this. My concern is that some people hate LE so much that they would use the information in very bad ways ...
Regardless, I'll leave the decision up to Libertas, SSBD, and inigo.
-
My gut feeling is that this is not permitted.
-
No personal information of any kind is permitted here. You ALL know this; you cannot expect your own anonymity to be protected if you do not protect the anonymity of others, regardless of who they are or what they have done.
Libertas

My gut feeling is that this is not permitted.
I'll go ahead and remove it for now. I would be interested to know if it is allowed or not though. Please make sure it is clear that they are LE when you ask the other moderators for clarification.

Posting personal information of any kind is absolutely not permitted.

Libertas and I are in agreement that even though it is LE, the personal information still has no place on a forum that so highly values anonymity.

When you are a "public servant" with your information all over the internet and press, you can't expect to have any anonymity. They chose the high profile job. They chose not to be anonymous. We choose to be anonymous. Their anonymity hasn't been protected since they took their job as a as a law enforcement officer. Your argument is invalid this time Lib.

I CC'ed DPR on the situation before Libertas took care of it, but I think he will support what Libertas has already said.

We support the police now????

We support the police now????
It's not about who they are or the job they chose - it's about not posting anyone's information publicly in this forum.
-
They put themselves in the spotlight trying to be a badass Porky Pig. They drive around with an identifying number in massive letters all over their vehicle. They wear a badge with their name and badge number. They sign tickets and case paperwork everyday. They get their name plastered in the media and press. They do nothing to be anonymous. ::)
Some people like law enforcement and some don't and now I know of one moderator that likes cops. ;) ::)
As I said, I don't really care, it's no issue for me. I just hate law enforcement. I still respect your opinion to like law enforcement Libertas. No one can take that from you. You could have given a better reasoning though than the sham of a reason that you gave...

This argument works both ways, and sucks for everyone involved. I can think of no potential good that would come of posting dox on LE that would outweigh the potential harm done to the SR community by the great eye of LE becoming intently focused on this forum. What Lib is doing is protecting your ass. And mine. And his. And everyone else.

That is not the point, Jack N Hoff. Anonymity is protected here regardless of whether or not that information is posted elsewhere. As an example, if someone were to find your personal email address and Facebook etc. and posted them here, would that be alright because that information is already in the public domain?
Their anonymity is protected here, just as yours is. I do not agree with the work that they do, but everyone is entitled to the same rights here here whether cop, revolutionary, drug user, drug seller, 'criminal' or whatever else - my argument stands.

Because your gut was telling you that DOXing people and sending mad pizza to their house is a pussy thing to do.

As I said, I don't really care, it's no issue for me. I just hate law enforcement.
Your emotions are driving your decisions, exponentially increasing the likelihood of those decisions being stupid. We all hate LE, but making decisions based on that hate is just not smart.

Think what you will, Jack N Hoff - unfounded accusations carry no weight with me.

Sharing a cops personal information isn't even a crime. Shipping drugs through the mail is a huge crime. Running a criminal enterprise is too. I don't see how this could be bad for anything. It's perfectly legal. Whatever though, let's drop the subject. Anyone can feel free to send me a PM if you want some law enforcement officer's personal information. ;)

That's because you're not thinking this through. Actions have consequences, regardless of your inability to see them.

People here are not criminals, Jack N Hoff. They may be considered "criminals" under the laws of the society in which they live in but those laws do not apply to us here so your point is entirely moot. Regardless of the 'legality' of it in general society, you cannot equate Law with Justice.

Could Libertas be an officer that put on an elaborate charade as a helpful member and customer then gained access as a moderator? This would explain why he wont allow us to post law enforcement officers.

Of course that is possible, though I should think from my previous actions here that it is obvious that that is highly implausible. I have already explained the reason why people are not allowed to post the personal details of ANY person, whether they are LE or not. That reason is clear and concise, and a matter of Silk Road policy. In fact I explained that to you when you were posting child pornography stories everywhere, one of two things that are not permitted here along with posting the personal information of yourself or others.

I'm started to notice several posts with personal information and the mods don't give a fuck about those. I don't understand. Some personal information is allowed, as long as it isn't a law enforcement officer? Why are we protecting known law enforcement officer's personal information but we are allowed to post the personal information of celebrities and such??
Isn't it obvious to you that they support police?

It is pretty strange.... The rules are being broken in several threads... Or the rules need more clarification....

As I posted in response to your report:
Thank you for your report, Jack N Hoff.
Links to news stories that are in the public domain are not considered as revealing personal information - they are widley reported and the person contained in the news report is not being put at risk by having a link to a widely reported news story posted here. A member of the forums, or a member of LE, however, would be put at significant risk where their safety and security is concerned if their information is posted here - I'm sure you can understand the difference between those two scenarios. However, if you have an issue with the forum policy on personal information, please feel free to take it up with the site adminstrators, Dread Pirate Roberts and inigo.
Libertas
That should serve to clarify the issue, but if it does not then the administrators may be able to offer more information.

Cool. So I can start posting law enforcement officer's personal information as long as I include a news article?
You can of course post a link to a news article that is in the public domain, along with the quoted text if desired, as long as it is posted in the off topic section where it belongs.

Jack just make a damn pastebin if you want to DOX some cops. Anonymous does that shit all the time. I'll even read the fucker lol.
Links to pastebins that contain personal information on anyone will be edited in accordance with the 'no personal information' policy; they are treated the same as posting the personal information on the site itself. However, anything that contains information that is posted off site is not Silk Road's concern as long as a link to it is not posted on the forums.

How about their login credentials for their local department's website? Gary's username is "Cochenour 508" and his password is "Deputy508" :)
Whilst this would need clarification from the administrators I believe that this would fall under the 'no personal information' policy. As I am unsure on this particular point, I will check and revisit this, redacting the information if needs-be.

Jesus fuck, humans are such petty ego-entranced pieces of shit. This is what we're up against, people who are awake. Pakistan has nuclear weapons, Iran is trying as hard as they can, the sea is swallowing inhabited areas at a disquieting rate, guns can be downloaded, and this is what most people still are.
Those who are awake: We have inherited a long procrastinated ethical responsibility to shake humanity from its fugue, we can no longer simply observe.
