Title: A few small changes
Post by: Dread Pirate Roberts on February 06, 2013, 06:52 am
UPDATE (feb 7th): The PIN reset process is now automated.  http://dkn255hz262ypmii.onion/wiki/index.php?title=PIN
If you locked your PIN within the past few days, there's a chance you'll see a message at the top of your homepage.  If anything seems off, just message support and we'll get you sorted out.

-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----
Hash: SHA1

We've made a few small changes to the site to help people get answers to their questions more quickly and to lighten the load on our support staff.

When you click on the support link in the footer of the site, instead of being prompted to send a message, you are sent to a page with instructions for finding an answer to your question, which includes an FAQ page on the wiki, searching these forums if you can't find your answer there, and posting to the customer support section of these forums.  My hope is that the mods and senior members of the forum will spend some time on these boards helping out the newbs.

We also get way too many people asking for PIN and password resets, so I've changed the account page to show a warning message about making sure you know your PIN and password before making a deposit if you've never made a deposit on the account, or haven't in a few months.

We'll see how well this works, but my hope is that it will cut down dramatically on the number of messages we get each day.

cheers,
DPR

Thanks for the update - it's certain to calm some of the fears that have been coming up over the last week or so in response to the changes.

I think redirecting to the FAQ-Section was overdue ;)
Especially since many people are to lazy to search for it and instead spam the support...

It's a little disconcerting to know that people have trouble storing / remembering their password & PIN to a website they intend to organize the purchase and shipment of illegal drugs with. I assumed that the concept of BTC would have been enough to self regulate that demographic.

Stay safe,

Your DrugBuddy.

I hope the newly instated methods help cut down on some of the unnecessary work load for y'all

one question I have regarding the new format -

is it still possible to change / get a new bitcoin address?

the spot where the link for this used to be is no longer there

cheers  8)

That's odd. I still have that link.

Also, obligatory

Thanks DPR, it's always nice to see an official statement.  Especially with all the changes recently.

Mine is still there also, and it works fine as I just used it.

Nice to see some word from the man himself.  I am wondering- is there some secret to getting access to the "vendors only" forum?  I have been trying and asking and asking and trying for months.  I've never gotten a reply from any of my requests to Indigo- is he the wrong person to ask?  I have 99.7% positive feedback from LOTS of transactions over the last 10 months.  Are vendors who ask for FE being excluded?

Maybe that's why I had the most unusual thing happen last night. (I actually sent admin a msg :-[) - Haven't done that in a while!  :D

I know I didn't do anything to make this happen. What I DID do was  right-click on two order #'s to open in sepaerate windows, as I always do, to make sure when I ordered, when they shipped, etc.

Well I ended up in the middle of two finalization's on each page! I don't think I could do that again if I TRIED!  :o

I wonder if it had anything to do with the "upgrades" being done.  I had no intention on FE early, nor was I being asked to by these two vendors, but they're both cool, and trustworthy, so I won't get a rash about it all.  8)

That explains it. Always gets a little "glitchy" when a an upgrade is made. Just like any system.

"..And the band played on!"

Peace 8)

I've been saying that to myself for the last 2-3 months as I've been reading their threads.

Flaxseed  search the wiki bro. Didn't you read DPR's message? LOL

(certain number of posts, forum name must match vendor name, then you must ask a certain mod. something like that)

Make sure you are sending the message to "inigo" ... not "indigo" ...

ok - am I really the only one who is having this problem with the update?

on the account page it used to say:

"to deposit bitcoins, send them to this address:"
followed by a BTC address as well as a link saying "get new address"

but now, for me, there is no such option.
there's only the new link saying "click here to make a deposit"
clicking the link leads to a "first_deposit" URL and displays the new "warning" paragraph

- the link to account settings in this paragraph is dead because there is a mistake in the URL
(should be: silkroadvb5piz3r.onion/silkroad/settings --but instead says: silkroadvb5piz3r.onion/account/settings)

- the provided BTC address no longer accompanies an option to generate a new address

I'm assuming/hoping these are just some bugs to do with the transition

I don't even know why I'm getting the "first_deposit" message because
I've had this account for a good while now and have deposited BTC many times, including very recently

not bitching though, just looking for help, seeing if I'm the only one/if Admin is aware of any anomalies  8)

Thanks for mentioning the broken link.  The link shows up instead of the normal deposit address with the "get new address" link when a user has never made a deposit to their account, or hasn't in several months.  It's there to remind people to remember their PIN and passphrase who haven't deposited or haven't in a while.  After you deposit to that address on the warning page, you will see the normal view with the "get new address" link again.

I notice at the LOGIN oage it no longer offers to enter Pin # if forgot password like it did days ago.

DPR was this one of your changes or something else?
