We are happy to announce a brand new site called The Armory. It focuses exclusively on the sale of small-arms weaponry for the purpose of self defense.
The issue of whether weapons should be sold on Silk Road has been brought up and debated too many times to count. I have heard good arguments on both sides of the debate and had to really think hard before choosing to take this direction. Here is a brief summary of my thoughts on the matter and why I chose to spin-off a new site rather than ban weapon sales completely, or allow them to continue here:
First off, we at Silk Road have no moral objection to the sale of small-arm weaponry. We believe that an individual's ability to defend themselves is a cornerstone of a civil society. Without this, those with weapons with eventually walk all over defenseless individuals. It could be criminals who prey on others, knowing they are helpless. It could be police brutalizing people with no fear of immediate reprisal. And as was seen too many times in the last century, it could be an organized government body committing genocide on an entire unarmed populace. Without the ability to defend them, the rest of your human rights will be eroded and stripped away as well.
That being said, there is no reason we have to force everyone into a one-size-fits-all market where one group has to compromise their beliefs for the benefit of another. That's the kind of narrow thinking currently used by governments around the world. It's why we are in this mess in the first place. The majority in many countries feel that drugs and guns should be illegal or heavily regulated, so the minority suffers.
Here at Silk Road, we recognize the smallest minority of all, YOU! Every person is unique, and their human rights are more important than any lofty goal, any mission, or any program. An individual's rights ARE the goal, ARE the mission, ARE the program. If the majority wants to ban the sale of guns on Silk Road, there is no way we are going to turn our backs on the minority who needs weaponry for self defense.
So, without further ado, I give you our answer to this whole conundrum:
The Armory: ayjkg6ombrsahbx2.onion
The Armory is run on the same codebase that runs Silk Road, with all of the same features you know and love. However, it is run completely independently with it's own servers, Bitcoin wallets, databases, etc. If it becomes popular, we'll even look into putting it under separate management.
A note to vendors: If you have items in the Silk Road weapons category, please relist them at The Armory asap. We will be shutting down weapons sales on Silk Road on Sunday March 4th.

good move

Genius! Looking forward to checking this out!
-
Smart move! lets see how this goes
-
..thanks DPR for all the work that goes on in the background, so you have not forgotten....
lets pray that nobody has to use any of these weapons...
Peace

This is a great solution to a sticky problem.
-
excellent plan, segregating the weapons trading from silk road may take displace some of the "heat" aimed at this community. however it still feels like a ticking time bomb. *pun*
how long before silk road / armory grows to a size substantial enough for governments to be able to justify imposing stronger internet privacy laws? no one wants another sopa/acta scare. we see it happening with megaupload, soon enough pirate bay. the only way to stay out of their control is to stay a few steps ahead in the technology race. i think they have a lot of catching up to do, but lets keep moving! so far, so good fellas.
-
I like the thinking behind this idea, perfect solution and revolutionary as well. I would hope the server locations of the 2 sites are VERY far apart from eachother. I would hate to see S.R. go down because of a weapons site..This is something that has never been tried, and it is going to attract and ungodly amount of attention if the right people hop on board and do it in a smart manner. I hope everyone is ready, the spotlight is on and we are about to be in for a ride either way..Turn up the paranoia people and lock your shit down and check your vendors, shit could go any where from here. S.R. is going to be affiliated with the new Weapons Site, and thats when governments start to notice wherever you go, and start to look hard and put money towards it.
Buckle up,
-NS 8)
-
Also a last minute possibility Beta Test..I would have spoken amongst the community for those members who are associated with Pro-Gun opinions, and outsourced yourself some start up vendors that are already Veteran here that can be trusted and allow them to authorize other sellers, and buyers with custom logins on an Invite Only Basis. Guns being especially a touchy subject to deal with especially, even with Escrow, that doesn't guarantee its not LEO on the other side because this is the opportunity that LEO looks for and we amongst the community could better verify our own. I guess everyone can take their own chances, but I think security could be stepped up here especially since we have learned lessons since SR's infancy that we can apply to the Weapons Site to better it. Its brand new, lock it down now to those we know better..Try to take the BTC's out of the eyes for a minute..

This is just such an elegant solution on so many different levels. It's literally BRILLIANT.
Unintended side-effect, a lot of different government agencies won't be able to share funding for joint operations anymore mwahahaha. (Think DEA/ATF joint taskforces etc., nuh uh not no more for this Road bishes).
I am really extremely pleased with this decision, it was a very very smart move. No more "Want a Glock with your Crack" sensationalist headlines anymore either.
I'm literally BEAMING here....

Tasers, here I come!

Thanks Captain! Smooth sailing inbound.

sounds like a great solution! :D

This is good, keep up the work

Excellent!
An elegant solution that maintains the spirit of Silk Road.
Thank you for staying true to your principles. It's a rare quality these days.

ha look at the armory site right now...

captain what vendors can we trust/?

Can we get a signature from you Herr Capitan? You really should sign all your statements SR. Hell, I could be dread roberts.
Thanks, Bikerbum

Bikerbum: ..at the very least you'd need access to the 'Dread Pirate Roberts' internal messaging a/c.....and thats already been shown...

Best for both worlds- 'splits' the heat between SR and the new site while allowing sales of (almost) everything. Great work!
-
Great work cap!

bravo to this.
Just in time for me to start manufacturing hardware, too..... ;)

Kind of pointless since you listed it on the forums. Now everyone knows its ran by the same people.

I have no dog in the fight, but I did follow the thread conversations.
Off the top of my head don't think there could have been a better solution than this.
Genius!

Thank you DPR. A very wise decision where everyone wins.
-
great job DPR!
Always thought weapons should be separate. Thanks!
-
thumbs up SR
-
This is exactly the solution I wanted.
Thank you DPR
-
How come this and silk road won't let me login if it's different servers and w/e?
-
when are you gonna roll out a CP site?
-
thats pretty sick moonbear
-
Speaking for Ben and myself, we're just glad to see the guns have their own place and not be mixed in with the other products.
We know we will take heat for being on SR and that's part of what we signed up for when we came here. We didn't, however, want to or anticipate, taking heat also for the sales of guns or anything else really other than drug products.
There is plenty of attention on SR without adding the guns to the mix so we applaud your solution and are very glad you've implemented it.
Now we can go back to just taking the huge amount of heat that we get for selling what we sell already! haha! ;)
Alex
-
Best solution to the problem. Well done SR! ;D
-
I think that's just Awesome! and I wont be needing that url:)............Thanks! and peace to all
-
great news for people on both sides of the debate. gun advocates get their own place, while the rest of us can be free of the extra attention that having guns on here would create. not that we aren't being watched already, but still!
-
A move to be applauded, well done and thank you for the time and effort this would take.
-
Now if only someone would list something worth buying....
-
when are you gonna roll out a CP site?
are you "booty bumping" little kids now moon_bear?
-
Those anti gun retards are so hypocritical. "It's okay to sell 5g of heroin to some unknown person on the internet (potentially a child), but guns are evil! No more firearms on SR!" What a load of bullshit, these people are such idiots.
-
Great move, everyone is satisfied and the silk road lives on. That's all that really matters to me!
-

1) Some felt the sales of firearms would attract more (unwanted) attention. Point proven, as at least one article has been published regarding SR's sales of firearms, and it wasn't the most nicely worded piece of press.
2) Almost all drug sales are for personal use, which directly harms only the user. Guns are not sold strictly for self-protection...
Those being said, I was apathetic toward the topic of gun sales on SR. Just showing one side of the argument.
With the launch (and growth) of the Armory, DPR will climb the ranks of most wanted men on the planet. How exciting for you, DPR :)
-
Good move.
Frankly, glancing over to the "categories" column and seeing "Weaponry" listed there always made me sick.
-
That was a good idea. SR, is more of a community than some black market.
-
Bikerbum: ..at the very least you'd need access to the 'Dread Pirate Roberts' internal messaging a/c.....and thats already been shown...
Good point taken. But SR still needs to sign all his posts. I remember the URL change debacle. Regardless, it's a damn good idea. Firearms and explosives on another page.
Thanks for your input TWM. I purchase all my ordinance locally and regionly at no questions asked gun shows but for those who don't have access, knock yourselves out.

How many children do you really think manage to hear about SR, set up Tor, find SR, find a way get bitcoins to fund their account, and purchase a product on here? Maybe a few older teenagers, but they are at an age where they're responsible for their own actions IMO. I am all for guns, I own plenty and am very proficient with them, but something just doesn't sit completely right with me on them being sold here. I realize that most likely, the primary buyers would at most use them for home/personal defense, but what about when someone buys one for bad intentions? Selling someone something that they could potentially OD on, that they choose to buy and take, is very different than someone buying something to take another persons life.
I'm still mixed with my opinions though, because I can definitely think of plenty of good, valid reasons for people to use a site like this for firearms and such. I just think it would have been better if it were completely unconnected to SR. In the end, my opinion matters very little, and we'll just have to see how things turn out.
-
This is complete bullshit.
Drugs are one thing because they are a choice made by an individual. Guns on the other hand have one purpose, injure or kill (wait, that's two things). I'm 100% for personal freedom and liberty but when it comes to guns your freedom to own or use one affects others and that's where your freedom and liberty ends.
-
Nice!

I shoot for sport and recreation. I have guns for self defense, in the event that my life, or the lives of people that I care about, is threatened. I have my concealed carry permit, to be able to carry legally (although I generally don't carry), and I am lucky that I have the option to legally purchase a firearm for those reasons. Not everyone has that capability. In my opinion, firearms give people the opportunity to protect their personal freedom and life, they give people an even playing field, so that when somebody breaks into a 60 year old woman's house, she has a chance to defend herself.
I realize that not everyone uses firearms for that reason, but personally, out of everyone I know who owns guns, there isn't a single person who would ever use one to willingly harm another person. I agree that I don't really get a very good gut reaction when I think about firearms being sold on a site like this, but it really isn't extremely different than purchasing one at many gun shows that require no background checks. It makes it a little shadier I suppose, since the majority of items on here are illegal, but when I think of who would mostly be purchasing firearms to commit violence, I think of people in ghettos and lower class areas, who mostly won't be finding their way onto this site, and would most likely have an easier time buying illegal weapons in person. Maybe I'm completely off base, I hope not, because it'd be a shame IMO to see this site start being used for malicious purposes.

this is great. keeping these 2 pages separate is important security i would think. cheers to DPR for standing for what he believes in and also respecting everyone's opinion on the issue.

The seller acc should only be free for Sr seller and not for everybody.
Especially weapons are expensive and gold for Scammer!
Pls Sr or Armory seller make a link to your other seller acc that we can see that you are the same and
not anybody with the same name!
btw. Sell cheap weapons! The most people only need them for one time.
Those anti gun retards are so hypocritical. "It's okay to sell 5g of heroin to some unknown person on the internet (potentially a child), but guns are evil! No more firearms on SR!" What a load of bullshit, these people are such idiots.

I´m don´t think so..
The most kids do not dare to order home to mummy and if it is fuck up it´s a fucking world in which we live!
But one is true the only reason of a gun is to kill someone or something and not to wait for Zombies!
Everybody how need a weapon for sport or self defense buy a legal weapon.
-
Also, this is something that should be watched carefully. If an account over on The Armory has the same seller name as someone over here, use PGP to verify that it's actually the same person as over here. At the very least, PM that vendor account over here and wait for them to respond with "yup it's me" before you do any business over on the Armory.
And the community as a whole needs to keep a very vigilant eye on sellers over on Armory. Items are higher risk, in that they are larger and more easily intercepted (I would recommend component shipping, myself, over several packages), and price tags are higher, meaning scammers will most likely abound.

Great solution to a tough problem. I for one just worried that guns would bring more heat to SR and therefore opted for less heat so I can continue to buy my drugs and live my life peacefully.
-
Great Idea DPR,
TO THE VENDORS....why don't you try different ways of ensuring legitimacy as mentioned in previous posts like private messaging on sr or even sending part/s of the weapon while the money is still in escrow then sending the remainder once finalized.
Don't forget if you can become ranked #1 vendor quick enough you'll absolutely smash it on this site
-
fact of the matter is there are illegal guns on the streets even without selling them here....so fuck it....
-
I think this was a good decision to maintain separate sites . BUT
...Good Lord, the number of self-professed 'liberty advocates' on here -- in favor of gun control is astounding and depressing.
Are you gun-control fools unaware of 20th century history? The millions that have died at the hands of tyrannical governments -- after they have been disarmed under the bleating platitudes of the mindless sheep like yourselves?
There is a REASON that the 2nd Amendment to the Bill of Rights contains an INDIVIDUAL right to bear arms -- in fact this was considered not only a God-given right, but a civic duty in the late 1700s. This because the founders of America understood that an individual right to bear arms was the last defense against tyranny.
I understand and agree that the sites should be separate -- and personally I would not be so unwise as to buy weapons on the internet -- but I suggest all the gun-control morons go read The Gulag Archipelago by Alexandr Solzhenitsyn. Then think about what you would do if the modern-day NKVD secret police came to haul you off, or to haul your mother away, or to murder your father in the middle of the night. Do you think that this part of history will never repeat? That you are immune from the effects of psychopaths seizing political power? That you are 'safe' because you have done nothing wrong?
Think again. History will repeat. Once day , probably sooner than you realize, there will be secret police, secret trials, neighbors hauled away under the cover of night, truthfully screaming out their innocence -- but no one will come to their aid -- as they are hauled away without justice to sprawling gulags. It might be 2 years, it might be 20 years, but it will happen again.
And you going to hide in your apartment, defenseless and ashamed , that you did nothing? .... It wouldn't surprise me at all.
"And how we burned in the camps later, thinking: What would things have been like if every Security operative, when he went out at night to make an arrest, had been uncertain whether he would return alive and had to say good-bye to his family? Or if, during periods of mass arrests, as for example in Leningrad, when they arrested a quarter of the entire city, people had not simply sat there in their lairs, paling with terror at every bang of the downstairs door and at every step on the staircase, but had understood they had nothing left to lose and had boldly set up in the downstairs hall an ambush of half a dozen people with axes, hammers, pokers, or whatever else was at hand?... The Organs would very quickly have suffered a shortage of officers and transport and, notwithstanding all of Stalin's thirst, the cursed machine would have ground to a halt! If...if...We didn't love freedom enough. And even more – we had no awareness of the real situation.... We purely and simply deserved everything that happened afterward.”
-Aleksandr I. Solzhenitsyn, The Gulag Archipelago (Vol I) 1918-1956

While folks are arguing whether The Armory is going to draw heat or not, the big question remains if it is going to take off or not. Personally, I see it suffering the fate of Black Market Reloaded if Admins don't act and adopt some fundamental changes. Why the hell are seller accounts free over there? It should NOT be allowed to advertise with 50/50 out of escrow transactions (the standard scam) and buyers should be educated on that.
It's all about creating solid and healthy foundations. Any legitimate vendors in that field will think twice about getting involved, and they will have zero incentive to do so if the place has a questionable reputation with 90% scammers.

The number of great edits you've made to the site lately are just absolutely staggering.

I kinda liked sex drugs and pepper spray stun guns...but valid point and I hate them mixed in real world so kudos and keep on ... Still waiting for reason to buy bitcoin but prices are getting better and pics have me drooling thanks either way..viva la revolution

Note to SR. Unable to message any vendors on there - just stays in a loop
-
Notice to potential buyers - do not get scammed. Example:
look at item: http://ayjkg6ombrsahbx2.onion/silkroad/item/22252
notice the crop. Look at the pattern of the dings on the grip. Look at the background.
Now look at this: http://www.armslist.com/posts/314927/birmingham-alabama-handguns-for-sale--star-bs-9mm
Thing is I SUPPORT an armed populace. More people have been murdered (tens of millions) due to their governments killing an unarmed population. Would you put your kid in a car without a seatbelt? Would you leave your street door open at night? Whay take a chance? The Human Rights Act 1998 states:
*The right to liberty and security of person (article 5)
No problem with pistol ownership - too late to close the door WE THE PEOPLE have a right as the bad guys bhave them already. My right is to life & that of my family. I have a problem with scumfucks scamming folk.
I love being me - fucking love it. :D 8) :-*

Thanks for that digiking, i was about to buy from this seller aswell!
I hate scammers. an this sure looks fishy.
-
The stupid people who like one freedom (drugs) but don't like other freedoms (guns) finally got it! DPR made a unexpected decision to get all people satisfied. And I love The Armory from first sight, it's like having sex with two twin sisters :) And we will have another site for backup purposes if one falls.
-
Problems - as with Black Market R most are scammers. Almost ALL sellers on there will be. Another problem: where's the escrow feature?
Only way to buy a semi pistol: 4 escrow payments.
Get 1st package - finalize.
So the seller says 'oh but I sent it' Say the buyer is the scammer. WTF use is a slide to him if he don't have the rest of the pistol?
I know guns. A slide from one 1911 (for example) will never fit another 1911 (or rarely) of a different maker. See what I,m saying?
No reason for the buyer to scam thus no reason for the seller not to escrow in 3 to 4 parts. The 3 bits (slide, barrel, body and recoil spring/springs etc but won't count them) go together
like a jigsaw. The magazine (clip for you G's) can be bought legally anyway. Escrow or go wank,.

when are you gonna roll out a CP site?
What is CP?

Guys, I've been following the developments on the Armory for a while now and can only refer you back to my post #57 on the previous site. It is quickly becoming a huge mess and ugly parody of BlackMarketReloaded (the scammer money is all too real and anything but funny, unfortunately). Even if the affiliation with SR is still loose at this point, the Armory as it exists now is not worthy to be part of the SR family. And this isn't something that will straighten out with time. Scammers and trolls are wreaking havoc! A first step at cleaning up would be making vendors pay for their accounts, no idea why this was waived in the first place. Maybe DPR is already working on those things and what we see now is something like an alpha release of the Armory...?
-
So many scammers.
-
Great, excellent, very handy and all that.
I myself have been put into a home invasion situation with some prick which had a baseball bat, balaklava, who was going to put across my head, lucky I had a matic handle to block.
But at my age and on a pension for a bad back. Something that went bang, pointed in the air at least for the first initial welcome, would have been handy. But at least he fled as I was not giving up my house that I have worked so long and hard to get.
Only prob I can see is me, living in Aussie, is how in the heck would it get past cutoms.
Anyway GOOD LUCK and cheers. Having a weapon does'nt mean your a criminal. It just makes things more even.

Scammers and trolls are wreaking havoc! A first step at cleaning up would be making vendors pay for their accounts, no idea why this was waived in the first place. Maybe DPR is already working on those things and what we see now is something like an alpha release of the Armory...?
- and compared to when the same sellers had similar items on SR, from what i remember over the last couple of months the few ended up
being scams and w/o having bought a gun the balance of reviews on the forum suggested they weren't the real deal...!?
-
Nice site
-
Nice to see this separated. Yes indeed, we need to have escrow on the armory as well.
The weapons scams here were common enough, no need to make things worse!
EDIT: I see there is now a 10BTC cost to join as a seller. Good job DPR!!!

The great irony of this black market, is it is teaching us capitalists about the necessity for having some manner of regulation e.g. the B$ barrier to entry ;D

Certainly true. The more ironic thing is that people confuse the private-"law" and private regulations that completely private/voluntary/Anarcho-Capitalist associations automatically impose on people.
This is DPR's property. Under anarcho-capitalism he could demand we all send photo proof that we are wearing pink birthday hats with ribbons coming out the top, and ban us for using the word "upside" in a sentence in the forums. However natural, voluntary market forces dictate those would be unreasonable, yet his desire to keep earning profits have compelled him to create a spin-off where the pro-weapons faction of the community can enjoy his property, and the the non-weapon faction can stay over on SR.
The market has FAR more powerful regulations than the artificial and always-gamed stumbling blocks the state always throws up.
I will have you at least a barebones-minarchist before our time here is done, Pine ;)

Yes. To regulate the market, you must change with the pace of the market, whether fast or slow. Governmental regulations in markets in particular are perpetually reactive. Either behind the times or over the top, they never quite seem to hit the mark.

I wouldn't go so far as to call it "disconcerting". Does it tell me he's one busy motherfucker with no time to proof read? likely.

So I just registered for the Armorary to check it out. I had just logged in for the very first time and I show that I have purchased a lottery ticket for a handgun and it shows in transit. Is this some kind of freebie for new users or what. I never even transfered any coin to the site and show and order already. Kind of concerns me.
Thanks
-
I want to say that I like this idea, because, for me, silk road is about the high, and responsible use.
If I buy something off the armory, i think it will have to be time I say goodbye to Silk Road because the two should never be mixed.
-
Honestly I think it's a bad idea and brings more heat to SR. Once guns and explosives get involved, the gov't will definately take greater action!
-
Once guns and explosives get involved, the gov't will definately take greater action!
The fact that this is common knowledge only underscores the importance of defying them. Drugs, prisons are full of people for drugs. But government REALLY pays attention when you dare to own the tools to stand up to them... I find it astoundingly ironic that the people who should most care for freedom and the tools thereof, are on the government's side. Hide under the bed and smoke your pot while the gov goes nuts... Who cares if everyone else goes to jail for it, They didn't catch YOU (not directed at quoted individual) yet... Anti-gun drug users are cowardly hypocrites. When will you take action? After everyone but you is already hung? Scum... It's not about the drugs, it's about the hypocrisy and lazy selfishness of supporting one right, but supporting genocide against those who exercise other rights.
Drug users are peaceful? No, they hire the government to kill everyone they disagree with. "I like drugs, but I hate guns" is the mantra of shit-for-brains.
But anyway....
When is this new site going to be functional and not suck horribly? I've got all kinds of cool shit I could sell there...
-

Me too, among several other things I noticed. It's a disaster. I'm sure DPR is on the case, just wondering when it'll be a go....

Great move! Hopefully, those LEO cocksuckers will leave our SR alone now. Maybe they will let us smoke our weed in peace and spend their time catching real criminals.

Just what was needed. I'm not thinking of buying firearms but a separate market for them is always a good thing!

Good to see the non-lethal section.
Will give it a go once I get some btc transferred :)

Tools to stand up to them? I doubt you live in a totalitarian society characterized by random government sanctioned murder. The governments beyond the bubble of the USA will pay attention because the rest of the world do not carry firearms, and sites like the Armory are only going to provide a means for armed crime to proliferate; in the UK knife crime is bad enough, i do NOT want chavs to have access to firearms or even non-lethal weaponary. If the armory would like to provide non-lethal social cleansing services i may be interested..
Re "I like drugs but i hate guns being the mantra of cowardly hypocrites"; If the entirety of the drug using community of the UK were happily supplied with their favorite psychoactive of choice, thier drugs will forever stay in thier own blood; never to enter a non-drug user's body, respecting those not involved's rights and autonomy. Whilst if every firearm seeking (nutcase) in the UK were to be supplied with their very own shiney 9mm, the bullets of which they would possess are *intrinsically designed to enter another non-consenting individual's body*, thus in effect imposing this ridiculous American concept of some fucking "constitutional right" to what is really citizen level mutually assured destruction, where apparently carrying more and more weaponry makes you safer.
I love the silk road, but the armory i do not, id rather see a coup d'etat with tabs of LSD and pure truth, than middle class kids wearing some fucking che guevara t-shirt screaming about down with the fascists brandishing firearms and being part of the same pathetic mentality that believes violence solves anything.
But im just standing up for the cowardly hypocrites here, please continue as you were.

So if you were given a gun, you would 'disrespect those not involved's rights and autonomy', because you'd shoot them?
Is that your premise?
You, sir, scare me.

Using a gun on any individual disrespects thier rights and autonomy; and in the UK a gun is only going to be used for crime as other people do not carry guns.
That is the premise of the people who would buy a firearm outside of the US; as carrying a firearm everywhere else is more an statement of intent rather than a tool of defense unless you live in some government-less third world country.
And to say mutually assured destruction prevented a war - if neither side had decided to create nuclear weapons in the first place there would've been no war to "prevent".
My point still stands true; a drug is meant for one person to consume with consent in the majority, with a small minority of drugs being used to spike the unsuspecting for whatever reason. Whereas the majority of guns in the Non-firearm toting world (i.e. not the US) will be used for crime; with a very, very, *very* small minority will be used for self defence, but probably by criminals being shot at by other criminals.
Keep flying this flag of a 'free world' but ive never heard anyone but rednecks sing about guns being the path to anything worthwhile.
-
Switzerland. Again.
Read the book "more guns less crime", which is a comprehensive study of gun bans in western nations (including UK crime stats and such). Might change your perspective a bit, and in my opinion it's the only honest look at the numbers, on its scale, that you can get your hands on.

Ill give it a read, but i think the silk road's products has made too much of a hippie to think arming ourselves is ever going to be a good thing.
Ill go hug a tree and ponder, but i cant help but think the armory will ironically be ammunition for the enemies of the anti-tor marketplace

moralist/legalists will use whatever excuse they can get to impose their vision of allowable human behavior on us, be it drugs, instantly and freely copying bits of digital data (See: ACTA), firearms (since when can in inanimate object be evil in and of itself, or wrong in and of itself?), driving fast without hurting anybody, stopping at red lights for 3 minutes in the middle of the night, etc. Firearms are just a cog in the giant machine, but they are a lynchpin for true freedom (in all of the countries where genocide took place in the 20th century, EVERY one of those populations were disarmed/guns illegal).

So true! I am field trained in all that our great Army has and have many weapons! But I don't think any weapons should in any way be in a place whose main objective is for free thinking souls to get what they should be able to buy at the local 7/11.
I have not even visited the 'armory'.
Shrug?
Good luck! Have fun! And Peace to you ALL!
-
American's have no need to go to the Armory site as everybody there can easily buy weapons whenever they want. I'd say it mainly exists so American's can sell off their enormous bulk surplus of weapons to the rest of the world, primarily UK/Canada and EU
Curious to know if anybody managed any sales to Australia.

An American might use it if they want a purely anonymous gun.
-
I love SR because i can purchase whatever substance I want. Myself, and probably a lot of other members would hate to see SR get fucked for 'weapons'. I would like to see appropriate weapons being sold on a separate market, but not on SR. Keep SR clear and deal with killing machines on a separate page.
This is purely my opinon, but i feel others may agree with it. I feel like drugs and weapons should never coincide. Drugs give people freedom. weapons do not.
just my 2 cents.

if not mentioned - please ban the sale of acid chemicals on both sites. (not the tabs:) the chemicals that people throw on women etc.)

yeah, actually I'm fairly certain that Canada has more guns than America, so I don't know what you're talking about.

per capita, America has more guns than any country in the history of human beings since guns were invented. I'm not going to run over to clearnet and start grabbing sources, but it's true. Even more than Switzerland, where it's mandatory for young men to own an assault rifle and sidearm. Canada is up there (I think 19 million or so were on the registration list last year, which means probably more like 40 mil against a population of 35mil), but US beats all.
-
If Americans weren't so fucking stupid in general then we wouldn't need so many guns. :-[
-
Canada has more small arms than the USA? Lol what is that guy smoking.
Most American weapons are made there, how many Canadian gun manufacturing corporations are there compared to US?
In Arizona there is no waiting period, registration or limits to how many weapons you can buy. Any non felon can sign a background check and buy a dozen glocks on the spot with 30+ round magazines and walk out the door. Phoenix it's dead easy to order anonymous weapons online completely legally, there is no need for the Armory in the US.
http://today.msnbc.msn.com/id/46316454/ns/today-today_rossen_reports/t/rossen-reports-anyone-can-buy-guns-no-questions-asked/#.T5trHWHLfQE
Armory exists for foreign countries primarily because when you get licenses in those countries you end up in a police database and they can search your residence whenever they want to make sure you still have the gun, it's secured, and you haven't done anything illegal to it like taking out the pin in the magazine (Canada). They often don't enforce this law but it's a nice little fascist loophole they can take advantage of should they need an excuse to harass you.
-

Just a quick clarification please mate... I'm not american, but I'm curious to have clarified, that you would voice this opinion out loud, in a room full of marines recently returned from say... afghanistan?
Anonymity is tasty at times eh!!!

Oh I'd be much worse than that. And so help me god if any of them tried to get physical over me expressing my opinion verbally I'd shoot the marauding imperialist fascist running-dog son of a bitch myself.
I just LOVE how the nutriders for our centurions have this subtle way of discouraging dissent by implying everyone who disagrees with the myrmidon fanservice show is a coward or a traitor.

Fair enough... since you feel this way about americans, I'll bet you have nothing in your life that was ever invented, researched or brought about by americans.
Coz that'd make you a hypocrite, and I'm sure you're not!

I feel that way about American government, American military types and American cops.
You apparently think my hostility towards forces of oppression should conflate with the population as a whole.
This is a false assumption.

You know this is nonsense.

Oh I am a hypocrite. If I weren't a hypocrite I would already have a few hundred kills to my credit.. but I lack the courage of my conviction to start killing the bastards responsible for the evil around me. Because I am a hypocrite.. I prefer to take the easier route (that doesn't involve nightmares for the rest of my life) and exit stage left to place where (hopefully) things aren't going to turn in to some dystopian security state quite so quickly. Have a nice day.

Okay, that's really bad and sad, but it's also dumb to think, the ban of such substances would stop those crimes!

I think these substances have a million uses and flameless, facial immolation is probably 2nd to last on the list of priority usages!

In the UK where I live, there was a recent case of a "battered" woman driven to her limits pouring petrol over her husband and setting him on fire.
Shall we ban petrol and matches because some people use them to break the law or shall we ask people to take responsibility for their own actions?
V.
-
...ask gov to react once more...with more legislation to stop (?!) the misuse of petrol to set someone alight for example...
-
..thanks DPR for all the work that goes on in the background, so you have not forgotten....
lets pray that nobody has to use any of these weapons...
Peace
that's the hope -- it's better to have this option, and never have to use it, than it is to absolutely have to use it... and not have it.

I guarantee within a year this will be the END of the Silk Road.
It will garner too much media attention, then the authorities will start taking it much more serious.
This is a HORRIBLE idea. Who the fuck would order an assault rifle in the mail anyway?

Please don't act like you actually believe this. Even the media knows (and mentions it on EVERY damn article) that the armory is 100% associated with silkroad. Why? DPR fucking made it. Hell, whose board are we on right now (see that big "SILK ROAD FORUMS" sign on the top left)? It DOES attract negative attention to silkroad, if not just give them another negative thing to slap onto SR's rep (omg heroin, coke, lsd, AND GUNS???). I obviously don't think it will be "the end of silkroad" but I'm just saying these are the facts.

Hey everyone, this is a great idea, but lets get more people using it! Tell your friends, your neighbors, your parents, hell, tell your little sister. Everyone needs to know about this, that way I can hopefully one day buy a Howitzer off this website. (I'm actually not kidding about that, that would be bad ass, or a tank.)

really? a tank?
why dont u just settle for a nice boys anti tank rifle - it's 20mm and fun as hell.

I really feel the armory should be only used for self-defense or sports and such. I fear otherwise. Not really sure why one would buy a Howitzer or a tank... You can buy vehicular tanks, which don`t have any artillery on them, to drive one though you would probably need to get it registered (if possible) and have lots of free lands to run around one. While I can understand some people`s fascination with such weapons I sometime wonder if really is a necessity for the norm.

I think any weapon that is not a direct threat to national security should be sold. A direct threat is weapons of mass destruction. Hell if you have enough money and you want some F 15 Eagles fuck it buy em. If you feel the need for sniper rifles or whatever crazy shit and you have the money to pay whatever buy it. Weapons are not evil or bad. On the contrary, governments that fear the day when their people will become armed are bad. Weapons are liberating :)
Another solid point about weapons and terrorism to mention: Hand guns and even assault rifles are not terrorist weapons. Tanks and armored cars arnt terrorist weapons either. Terrorist weapons are things like bombs and Boeing jets. So I say we ban the sale of bombs and jets.

I don`t know about national security, but firearms in general are a threat to anything around them. Sure I guess you could buy a F-15, sniper rifle, as long as you don`t crash it into a civilian area or shoot an innocent bystander. Weapons I think are far from liberating, its just a never ending cycle of threat. Not really following you here, it doesn`t matter if its a terrorist wielding those weapons, its still a threat to anyone without one. You seem to miss the point, I`m not stating that these weapons are 'terrorist' weapons, I`m saying that all weapons can lead to violence when arming/owning them. A terrorist is a person who terrorizes or uses fear to control or create chaos among a set population. You can not own a single weapon and still be a terrorist. Have you ever seen the nuclear warheads sold on the black market? Now that's disturbing. If the US Govt. would stop playing games with 3rd world countries and actually seize these weapons, I would applaud them. Unfortunately they have wasted tax payer`s money, wasted their resources/workforce, destroyed countless lives and still somehow have managed to stay in control and flee prosecution. I`m sorry but I see the American government as board of war criminals, it is most unfortunate for their citizens.

Please do the world a favor and read the book "More Guns, Less Crime" which is the most comprehensive, unbiased study of Western nation-states that has ever been performed. And I say it's unbiased because the author started out initially with the exact opposite conclusions assumed as what empirical data told him.
What Africa needs is not a fucking drop more of taxpayer dollars in the form of "aid". Straight to the fucked up tyrannical governments, which means more guns and more hired soldiers to keep the gang of thieves in power a bit longer. It's disgusting.

Are you referring to me or the user I quoted? I can sure look into it but I really doubt my stance will change. Things like the birth of tyrannical states/congo war in Africa are not to be ignored. Do you think Africa got most their weapons from China/Russia? No, they got their weapons from the United States. Though now the trade route is dimming, early totalitarian regimes were fueled by American weapons.

somebody should make a "referendum" :P

The US sends a check on our behalf to every country in the world with "Humanatarian Aid" stamped in the check's subject line on a regular basis, even Russia gets a check and we buy fucking everything from CHINA thanks to Prez. NIxon.
That's Democratic or Republican Capitalism, who ever has the checkbook on our account, yet our economy is in the tank because of these greedy bastards, been going on since G. Washington ran the lottory for the Revolutionary War.
That's the America now, and it Sucks. We need the common sense party to take over. Maybe a new revolution is in order. I'M READY..

I've been sayin that for years. Revolution is, most definitely, in order. Doesn't have to be a violent revolution....but things needs to change, BIG TIME.

Sorry, was referring to the user you were replying to. Trying to claim that an inanimate object has some sort of innate morality. bah.
Revolution will come. It's called the laws of economics. Western Nation States are going to get slaughtered by them.

Ahh, alright. Revolution is a natural transition. Its happened over time after time, with anarachy in the middle. I don`t know what lies int he future, but I believe that America is falling slowly. They are attempting to slow that downfall and get back up but it might be too late.

I guarantee within a year this will be the END of the Silk Road.
It will garner too much media attention, then the authorities will start taking it much more serious.
This is a HORRIBLE idea. Who the fuck would order an assault rifle in the mail anyway?
If I remember my history correctly, Lee Harvey Oswald ordered an Italian military surplus 6.5mm Carcano rifle via mail order; the same rifle used to shoot John F. Kennedy. This was LONG before Silk Road, and before gun control, when it was pefectly legal to do so.
Guru
+1.
He did it again later by ordering a .38 Smith & Wesson revolver.

I'm with you, we should be doing the same thing they are doing in Syria, Egypt, and Libya right now.
Cleaning the FUCKING house. And I do mean the pun. Who controls the MILITARY there as they do here, THE RICH.
Instead of BRIBING every country on this planet to democritize, so that the 1%er's can make a profit. We need to scrap the whole system and start over.
But not over the dead cold bodies of every Attorney, Pharmaceutical, Physicians, Medicare Scamming and every other Lobbyist group in the District of Columbia. Oh noooo......that would be treason.

We getting ANY info on the armory shutdown? I think the only vendor selling anything there should get a heads up... No? With such a small market, there's no fucking reason SR needed to spin it off, and the behavior of the buyers proved it... The volume was so fucking low it didn't matter. The argument that it brought heat is clearly proven bunk now. But as it was run, I get the feeling it was never meant to float. $50 account? I get the feeling DPR was deliberately trying to scuttle that ship by inviting the scammers... S'ok tho, I code even better than I shoot...

Looks like there wasn't a high demand for over priced guns on the dark net. Seeing how the vast majority if Silk Road users are American where you can get a gun on almost any pawn shop. doesn't make since to buy one online for those prices. and if you live in one of those countries that doesn't allow guns or has sever restrictions.... I would rather get caught receiving a kilo of cocaine than an illegal firearm.
