just thought of one...  what was that movie where the guy is an undercover cop and the mask he wears is a constantly shifting face.  drugs are involved, so is LE, and it's just a damn cool movie from what I remember.  It was done in that style where it is shot live, but then each frame is animated afterward.  Adapted from a book if I recall.

Definitly scary.

If theres any lesson that us lowly peons can take out of this, is it not that we SHOULD ALL MAKE SURE TO LOG OUT BEFORE CLOSING TOR?

that's right, if you actually click "logout" instead of just closing your browser, then you session will be destroyed. It is slightly more secure, though we should be protected against collisions now.

UPDATE (2218 UTC):  Ok, we are in the process of rolling back.

UPDATE (2130 UTC): This update isn't going as smoothly as I had hoped.  We're going to give it 20 more minutes to debug and if we can't then we'll roll back to the previous configuration and reassess.

UPDATE (2054 UTC): The site is live again, but very slow to respond.  we are working out the kinks and should have things running smoothly again soon.

UPDATE: we're going to take the site down again here in a minute for about half an hour.

UPDATE:  ...and we're back!

UPDATE: I'm going to keep the site offline for a while longer, up to half an hour, just to make sure everything is ok before we come back up.  will update at 1900 UTC if anything changes.

Hey, had to take the site down for a minute.  Will have it back up asap.

@Libertas: You were only doing your job, but I think you're a fucking douche. I think you are a turbo, super, mega fucking douchebag. You still have my respect considering the effort and advice you give this community, but you are a turd sandwich. Smoke a bowl or get fucking laid bro. Seriously.

This is actually kind of funny.  Lib I hope you see the humor and don't take it personally.

in all honesty, we just haven't been policing it.  its a tiny corner of the market that hasn't really caught my attention, but if what you are saying is true, then yea those fake silver listings and such should be taken down.

Libertas did the right thing and I stand by his decision.  Libertas, you could improve your tact and not be so defensive.  Bruce is not a bad guy, he's a good guy that made a mistake we're not meaning to treat him like a criminal we're trying to apply the rules as consistently and fairly as possible.  I think we can all agree that a transparent rule set that everyone knows and agrees on ahead of time is superior to me playing favorites.

hi folks, wow I am incredibly sorry about this.  last week we were having login issues and we had to rewrite the entire system that handles logins and sessions to get the bugs out.  We overlooked one thing that lead to this mistake.  Basically it was checking weather a large random string of characters was unique.  The odds were so low for what is called a collision that it was overlooked, but indeed a collision occurred in this case.  The chances of it happening were about 1 in 10e^26.  That's 10 with 26 zeros.  Anyway, forensics showed it was the only incidence and we've added a uniqueness check that will prevent this from happening again.  I was actually suspicious when we had a bug free release of the new system!

Thankfully moopydog was honest and didn't do anything wrong, and the user that was compromised didn't seem to mind much.

Hey everyone...  I apologize for this conflict.  I'd like to briefly explain why BC lost his vending privileges despite being a great vendor in many regards.  The piece of evidence that stood out in my mind that made it clear he had crossed the line and had to lose his privileges, was telling the customer that he had saved his address.  I don't remember the exact quote, but it was something along the lines of I'd be careful messing with an anonymous drug dealer that has your address and is psycho.  Not cool.  That's a veiled threat and everyone knows it, and it's exactly why it is against the rules to save customer addresses.

Let me make this clear.  The bar is set HIGH for SR vendors.  You can be great in many ways, but you are expected to follow the few rules I put into place.  Honoring and respecting your customer is in the Seller's Guide, and I take that seriously.  You have to go a long way away from that to do what BC did.

That being said, Bruce, I love ya, I'm sorry for your loss, but we had a deal and you broke it and I told you ahead of time what would happen.  It was all in the sellers guide/agreement.  Honestly I hope you will reup your refundable vendor deposit and give it another go on a new account, but if we lost you, then I wish you safe travels.
