The boy received pure MDMA instead of the Methylone he was expecting.

They do not fuck around. I have been offered protection by the Sinaola cartel to cook in Mexico and without hesitation or second thoughts I turned it down cold. He has no clue what he is getting into if he thinks he has some kind of expertise at turning on a computer, downloading Tor, and then opening a website. He will quickly learn his true value to them.

On a side note though, DPR could easily win some points with the media by way of a response stating something like:
"The Silk Road is and always has been very active in ensuring only the safest & highest quality products are sold on the market. This type of behavior is not tolerated amongst the vendors and the account would have been banned from selling any products at all had the vendor been outed as a fraud. Due to the seizure of our site in early October, the staff is unable to locate this person to ensure he does not harm other prospective buyers. As the United States federal government is now in control of the data needed to identify this individual, I would strongly urge you to contact your local FBI office and request this information be used as evidence in the pursuit of justice for Patrick and his family. Given only a username, the Silk Road staff can at the very least ban the vendor from using the market and prevent further loss of life.

Why not have a community demand use of the data they seized to identify a scammer that possibly took a life? If the media wishes to spin it in such a way that the story blames the Silk Road, it seems only logical to blame those who are preventing any action on our side.

There is no reason that consumers are not testing their drugs before they ingest unknown chemicals from anonymous sources. No reason. Even more so if this happened just a few days ago.
