There were also some people promoting other "new" marketplaces.

Someone's trying to pick that low hanging fruit. Probably not with good intention either. Tormarket is probably either a scam or a honeypot.
I agree. Tormarket may have a pretty UI, but it all just seems too convenient considering the timing of the Sheep scam and SR attacks. Hopefully it proves to be legit, but I doubt it. We could use some healthy competition on this side of the web.
The way I see it, the more time put into making a fancy GUI with bubble lettering and a gradient, the less time spent on functionality, security, infrastructure etc...

Well that's a pretty good indication!
Although i'm assuming quite a few of those accounts were opened by people who were curious and never became customers. Same goes for the forum too though i guess.
also you could probably take a good 20,000 off that number for spam and alt account. i bet coachella had at least 10,000 of them.
i think a lot of buyers get their info from reddit as well.
You are pretty confident in that troll. If he managed 10,000 accounts, I wouldn't even be mad. That's impressive.
