Silk Road Discussion / Re: WE NEED DETAILS

Hey DoctorClu I have a quick question for you. When trying to log in just before on mac os, I got the message that my request was flagged because it ressembled the DDOS attack. Then I booted tails and could log in without problems.

Now my question, is it possible that some SR user's computers may have been infected by a trojan and used by the hacker in his attack.(as part of his botnet)?

It has nothing to do with that. I got the same message using tails.

Im not educated enough to explain why, but it sure is nothing to do with trojan on your OS in regars the message.

Just as we were adjusting our attacks to suit their defenses, the SR staff has been working tirelessly to defend the market. This requires placing other blockades in place. That page should only be shown when a fingerprint's unique has been served too many times within a window. Adjustments are still being made to what the cut-off point is so wouldn't worry about it. Use a new identity and carry on.

Please understand, every bit of information that gets shared just leads to more questions. DPR has posted some updates, admittedly they are light on detail but for good reason.

We are under attack, you are under attack. Now is the time to hold together and making demands is not helpful. We understand you want answers but have some faith, we will overcome this challenge and those who seek to make themselves enemies of Silk Road will get what's coming to them.

I provided these answers to aid the Silk Road. Not to harm it. I wish the community to stick together. I saw too many threads asking about "Can I get an invite to TorMarket?" and "Check out this other market!!".

I know you did DoctorClu and my comments where in no way directed at you or in response to your sharing of information, you did what you felt was right.

Thanks, Syn. I have no doubt that this will be resolved one way or another. I trust in the Road.

Furthermore I think anyone working on the technical side of SR should have their anonymity reveiled to DPR... as a security protocol. But thgats just my opinion

That is horrible, this idea.

It's loading fine for me. Use a new identity. Getting people to stop migrating over to what is most likely a scam is why I posted this information.

The rival market is indeed Tor Market. They hired some Russian group to do their dirty work. It is a widely held belief that Sheep and TorMarket are one in the same as they are running %90 of the same code.

Is this confirmed? How would one go about comparing the code? Surely you would need access to the source files on both sites?

Their "secure codebase" was torn asunder pretty quickly.

DPR said he had a copy of one of the marketplace's db's.  I'm assuming it's sheep.  I'm also assuming that as part of the attack there's someone looking to get./cripple Tormarketplace's db as well rather than just hitting their botnet provider.

Sorry I missed this question.

Yes the staff currently has their enumerated database including "380 encrypted orders vs 1523 unencrypted". Before moving forward with this attack, DPR gave me his word that he has no intentions of doxing anyone as their userbase is innocent. I have faith that he will hold to that promise.
Let me ask you doctor. Do you think a scam site like this would care if somebody had their users info if they are just going to scam them anyways? I can see this being very valuable to somebody who cares but why would a bunch of scammers care about their customers?

They obviously do not care at all if they are willing to retain the level of plaintext addresses.

Surprise is the first element of any attack.

For all asking both here and over PM, I WILL NOT be providing information on how to carry out these attacks. For those that know how, I would urge you to hold your guns down until DPR has a chance to respond. We all are pursuing peace at this time which was why I was told to stand down last night.

Prof's claim yesterday of "killing the bot" was bullshit. He has been finding various ways to defend and we have been adapting.

I honestly don't like that I have to, but I would rather the community stick together then possibly risk going to a site that I truly believe will pull a Sheep sooner or later. That is exactly what they have to gain by attacking us.

Alright fuck it. I'm tired of forcing everyone here stew and speculate. You are all the patrons of the SR. You keep it running.

I will provide as much information as I can without jeopardizing anyone's safety. Hit me...
Ok,
Where does the majority of the traffic appear to be coming from? random exit nodes or a direct source?
and who's your source?

A Russian provider was outsourced to to perform the ongoing attacks by a rival market. I was contacted by DPR to aid in the response as a botnet owner. We have been hitting them sporadically for the past few days with the help of a couple other owners. I was given the order to cease the attack last night after the market came up and haven't heard anything since.

I can assure you all that it is not law enforcement or "religious groups". It is indeed a rival market.
